Return of the Fallen Volume 7 Chapter 83
Danny could hold the dual suns no more and the two smashed upon Kazuki and Sasai at the same time.
…
For a split second, the world was silent followed by
*CRACK KA-BOOOOOOOOOM!*
The black sky was torn asunder and was instantly replaced by a blinding white light. For hundreds of miles, the sky had been dyed pearl white with not a trace of another color nor a trace of shade. After the initial explosion, all sound was canceled out followed by a high pitch screech as something was vaporizing. Danny wanted to see what was happening but the light was simply too much. If he had actual ears at this moment, his eardrums would have exploded and blood would be pouring from his head.
Not only was the light overbearing to a creature’s senses but an immense pressure spread out in all directions. Danny found it hard to even stay in place. A fraction of a second after the suns crashed into the ocean floor, Danny was still able to stand. The moment this exploding force spread outward, his heavy body weighing several tons was in one sweep lifted off the ocean floor and thrown miles high out and away, tumbling into the sky above.
Tumbling at a speed that broke the sound barrier, when you cannot see nor hear would have frightened most others but Danny was merely a soul in a metal body. His only thoughts at the moment we’re not for his own safety but for Kazuki’s.
(Kazuki only had one more sword of light to break before he was free. Did he escape. Why can’t I feel his presence at all.)
Danny’s aura stretched out to his limits and he scanned the bottom of the ocean but he could not feel nor sense Kazuki whatsoever. Danny was starting to get a dreadful feeling.
At the same time. The bright light finally began to fade.
A battle between two Ancient beasts had not yet finished.
On one side, a large black as night panther stood high in the sky. Wounds covered Shaila from head to toe and blood flowed nonstop. On the opposite side, a large white horse with fur as white as snow and two curved horns extending from its head was left completely unharmed. Not a scratch nor hair of any kind out of place.
The contrast between the two was awe-inducing. To see two mighty beasts who stood near the apex of the world. For one to be so above the other. One white and the other black, it was literally like day and night.
Dreunz looked down at the world below him. More than a hundred feet of the ocean’s waters had been vaporized.
The heat from his suns had been so intense that the frozen ocean could no longer be considered as such. Even now, the steam and water that rose into the sky caused storm clouds to gather and it began to rain with large fat drops of water. The air though was still so hot, that before this rain could reach the ocean, it would vaporize again and return to the clouds above. This process repeated itself several times before the first few drops of rain actually began to hit the ocean.
The large whirlpool where he tossed his two suns down still remained due to his power of space holding the waters apart. The spot below was no more and was now a huge gaping hole leading to the abyss itself. Seeing not even a corpse left and sensing Kazuki no more, a minuscule amount of his rage had calmed. The pain he felt for his dead grandson Alodeus was still fresh but knowing that Kazuki was gone, helped ease it just a bit.
Seeing the miserable state Shaila was in, a cruel mocking smile filled his face.
“Your husband is dead and so is that snake. Kazuki is no more and all that’s left is you and that metal puppet. You’ve lost absolutely everything and you deserve it. You all took my grandson from me, your friends are lucky they have already left this world. I’m afraid your fate will be far worse though. Now that it’s come to this, I will capture you before you have a chance to self-destruct. I will seal your soul and you will be a plaything for 10,000 years. You will be tortured and used by every man that I can find. The old, the ugly, the vilest. You will service every single one of them. Only when you have suffered to that amount will you just barely begin to understand the agony I feel at this moment.”
Shaila’s body trembled. Going all out, trying to dodge Dreunz’s constant attacks at a speed she could not contend with, left her exhausted and direly wounded. She could see Danny in the distance but he was moving sluggishly as if he as well was drained. No matter where she looked, no help could be found.
At the same time, there was no way she would allow herself to be captured and tormented.
Shaila’s eyes began to glow. A mix of hatred, fear, defiance. She would not go quietly into the great beyond. Not if she could still move, not if there was even a single breath left in her chest. She would never surrender.
She began to draw all of the energy from her core. At the same time, she ran forward in the air and her body began to blur. She left a streak of black light as she raced ahead, charging full speed at Dreunz.
Dreunz watched this in both annoyance and anger.
“You fucking she bitch, you really still dare to defy me, even when you’ve already lost. Guess I’ll take your limbs from you first! I’ll break you and make you suffer until the end of time!”
Dreunz opened his mouth and several fast beams of golden white light shot out. All of them went straight for Shaila’s limbs. Shaila on the other hand knew she couldn’t dodge these perfectly and in fact, gave up on trying.
Several beams struck her again and again, but she simply took it. She endured in both spirit and body and charged ahead with a maddening expression.
Dreunz only grew more enraged seeing this brazen spite and fired at her more and more.
The distance between the two was a mere 300 feet. Something both could cover in a near-instant, yet the amount they could fire their magic at one another was that much faster. Dreunz took advantage of this fact and had fired nearly a hundred beams of light in this instant. Each one of these attacks bore a hole straight through Shaila’s flesh. Her entire body was covered in wounds. Her left arm and right leg in this time were completely obliterated and fell away into ash but still, she endured.
She appeared before Dreunz and opened her mouth. A black sphere she had gathered all of her energy into. This black spere held her all, her everything. She knew she couldn’t kill Dreunz with such an attack but she at least hoped to hurt him and make him feel what she was feeling.
With so little hope, she opened her mouth at this close range and shot it out like a cannon.
Dreunz though despised Shaila’s impudence. His body moved like light and with a side step, he dodged the black sphere as if it were nothing.
The moment the black sphere flew past him, Shaila smiled and the black sphere stopped in mid-air and changed direction in an instant. Dreunz sensed this slight change and turned and fired a beam of light behind him but the dark sphere was far too close and the two energies, one light the other dark, had come into contact with one another which resulted in an explosion.
*BOOM!*
As the dust settled, Dreunz who was far too close had caught the worst of it. His left front leg hung loosely at his side and a gash had formed above his left eyelid, along with a long crack that ran through his left horn.
As he realized what had just occurred, his mind went numb for a moment.
(I let my guard down and this she bicth, she actually wounded me.)
Shock, humiliation, on top of the agony and rage. It all boiled over at this moment.
“Fuck it all! I was wrong! Why waste my time in torturing something so lowly, something so cowardly and rotten. Your death will give me one less headache. The north will belong to the east after this day. Die!”
Shaila knew her attack wouldn’t kill him but she had hoped to wound him more severely. She could usher no more energy, no more strength.
(Is this the end? Darling, I wanted to wrap myself around you one last time. Maybe…Maybe our next life we can find…peace.)
Dreunz opened his mouth and his energy gathered in an instant. Just as he was about to fire…
*RAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!*
