Return of the Fallen Volume 7 Chapter 84
*RAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!*
Just before Dreunz killed Shaila, an inhuman roar rippled out from the depths of the vast dark ocean. The heavy rainfall like a clock being wound backward reversed upward and was sent up into the ever-expanding open sky.
Shaila could feel the inside of her ears being torn apart but she had no energy to resist this roar. Dreunz eyes twitched as he winced in pain. The unexpected noise had shaken him to the core. Both he and Shaila shared a look of confusion, obvious that neither knew what or from who that defining roar had escaped from.
After several seconds, the noise faded, and the rain returned to normalcy and fell as so.
Dreunz looked into the whirlpool below and down into the deep pit his dual suns had carved out but it was far too dark to see anything. Still, he grasped very quickly that the shout had come from there.
“It can’t be that human, so then what…”
Dreunz extended his aura and drilled it into the depths of the cold ocean and searched the depression he had left behind and as soon as he did, his aura was knocked back.
(My power…It was repelled.)
For something to repel his aura, it had to be a being as great as he but that shouldn’t be possible. Everyone around him was on the verge of death and they were all weaker than him, to begin with.
Dreunz began to wonder if he had accidentally drilled into some Titans territory, some mighty being he was unaware of that occupied this place. The thought of that though seemed absurd though. This area formerly belonged to Motozu fairly recently and Titans didn’t tend to move around very much outside of their own territory so Dreunz was dumbfounded on what was below.
This feeling of confusion though only deepened as a figure slowly rose up and out of there.
As soon as Dreunz saw who it was, he couldn’t understand what was happening. Not just him but Shaila as well. Seeing who it was, she wondered if her brain had been turned to mush because the person who came from the depths of the ocean was actually
(Kazuki, he’s alive?)
Kazuki slowly rose out of the dark pit and took to the skies. However, as soon as he came into sight, Dreunz only grew more confused by his appearance.
Kazuki’s body was nearly ten feet tall. His hair was wild and had grown all the way down to his feet. His nails were overgrown and disgustingly long as if he had been stuck in a cave for years without care. These were already an odd sight to see but that wasn’t what left Dreunz bewildered.
Kazuki had dark lines running up and down his body. Looking closely, Dreunz could see that they were the ancient language. Kazuki slowly lifted his head and revealed a single eye as black as night. The other one seemed to have rolled up inside his head at some point. This odd look along with the fact that Dreunz could not sense Kazuki’s aura but a completely new one, a different one, he had no clue what was going on.
He stomped in the air with his front hoof in complete arrogance.
“I don’t know how you survived my Dual Suns but I’ve seen the many cards you have up your sleeve. Another trick but tricks will no longer help you. With no more help, you won’t escape my swords of light this time.”
As Drenz was speaking, Sasai flew in from below and caught Shaila. With Danny in his other hand, Sasai flew away at his fastest speed possible. Dreunz watched this with disregard. Sasai was slow in his eyes and he could catch him at any time. Not only that but Sasai, Shaila, and Danny were beyond weak at this time. After he dealt with the annoyance in front of him, it would be more than simple to finish the rest.
Shaila on the other hand was enraged. Even though she was in no state to fight, even though she was covered with deep wounds and bleeding out, she wasn’t willing to leave Kazuki. She had fought Dreunz and she knew just how strong he really was. She felt if Kazuki fought Dreunz once more, then his death was guaranteed.
“Sasai, what do you think you are doing!?!?! We must join forces and help Kazuki right now! If we don’t he’ll die! Hurry and go back!”
Sasai ignored Shaila and continued flying as fast as possible. He didn’t dare stop for a moment or even glance back. A chill ran down his spine. He had seen Kazuki in a similar state and he had been afraid for his life then. Now, something was clearly different. He took a single look at Kazuki and felt that if he truly stuck around, he would be killed in an instant and that the one who did it would not be Dreunz.
“Sasai! Why don’t you fucking listen, take us back right now!”
Shaila began to struggle in Sasai’s hands and Sasai roared at her.
“BE STILL!”
Shaila was shocked. Sasai had never raised his voice towards her let alone yelled. She was angry but she could see that Sasai was clearly terrified and was trembling.
“Sasai, I get that you’re scared but if we don’t help Kazuki he’s going to die. This is more than our alliance, this involves our lives and future. If Kazuki dies, we have none. Don’t you see that?”
Sasai shook his head.
“Big sis it is you who doesn’t seem to understand. I’m not afraid of Dreunz at the moment. If he killed me, that would be a simple death but a welcome one compared to the other side.”
Shaila didn’t get what he meant but Danny quickly filled her in.
“Shaila, it’s not guaranteed that Kazuki is the one who will lose. As a matter of fact, I highly doubt it. You haven’t seen that state Kazuki is in right now. Even I haven’t seen it go this far but right now, he isn’t the one that is in danger. Instead, it’s everyone and everything around him. Sasai is correct in bringing us away. Otherwise, it will be us who die at his hand and not Dreunz’s.”
“That’s not good enough. Explain it properly.”
Danny gave a simple explanation of the Ourodyess technique and the short of what Kazuki would go through when the devouring power was activated. How he would lose himself and therefore control and would attack and devour anything that was near.
“Such a thing exists? Is there no way to help him?”
Danny himself wasn’t sure.
“When I was still fused inside of his soul world, he could seal the devouring power with his aura but something is off. I can’t feel any of Kazuki’s aura whatsoever. If I was inside his soul world then maybe but out here, there is nothing none of us can do except retreat and get as far away as possible. We have to leave it in his hands and hope beyond hope that he can come back on his own, otherwise…”
“Otherwise what?”
Danny shook his head.
“Otherwise this world will suffer.”
Shaila and Sasai felt a chill run down their spine hearing that.
Shaila looked back in the distance, a prayer in her heart.
At this time, Dreunz was completely unaware of such things. Seeing that Kazuki was still alive, his rage for him burned. This was the human who took away his grandson from him. This was the human who took the most important thing from him and left him gutted with hatred and guilt. If only he had been wearier of the tricky humans. If only he had been just a bit more cautious and not let his grandson leave his side then he’d still be alive today. Smiling and happy.
The horns atop Dreunz’s head glowed along with his eyes and several swords made from light flew forward and surrounded Kazuki.
*Schink Schink Schink Schink Schink Schink Schink Schink*
All at once these swords of light formed a cage and trapped Kazuki inside. Small flickers of purple light surrounded these swords and they laid in wait for any magic that Kazuki tried to use. The moment he tried to break free with magic, the element of space would swallow all of the magic.
With Kazuki completely trapped, there was only one thing left to do. Dreunz opened his mouth and roared.
“DIE!”
A beam of highly concentrated light shot forward like a dense laser. The temperature of which was well hotter than a star. As this beam shot forward, the air warped and became slightly hazy. At the speed at which it flew, it arrived in front of Kazuki almost instantly and threatened to bore a hole directly in the center of his forehead.
This however would not happen. The moment the beam of light arrived, Kazuki’s mouth opened far wider than humanly possible. The sides of his mouth tore and for a moment it looked as if his jaw had been dislocated. The beam, of energy not even heading towards his mouth but his chest, with Kazuki’s mouth open, a powerful force pulled at the beam of light and the light actually bent in the air before being redirected into his mouth.
Entering his mouth, his jaws slammed shut and the light vanished.
A deep voice that didn’t belong to Kazuki slowly echoed out into the world for the first time.
“MORE!”
