Return of the Fallen Volume 7 Chapter 85
“MORE!”
This one word was simple yet the moment Dreunz heard it, something within him shook.
(Not only does he seem off but he sounds entirely different. His aura as well is not the same and the way he ate my light just now…this…somethings not right.)
Just as Dreunz was lost in thought, the cage of light swords began to shake and rattle before one by one they shattered like glass.
*Chsshhh chsshh*
Right after they shattered they were reduced to particles and flew into Kazuki’s wide-open mouth. Once more Dreunz’s energy was eaten.
Kazuki’s muscles bulged after consuming this energy and the dark lines around his body grew like someone was painting his body.
Dreunz took a slight step back.
“You…you are not the human Kazuki. You are different somehow. What creature are you?”
Kazuki looked at Dreunz with his one black eye. A demonic smile flashed across his face.
“What I am is beyond this tiny realm and anything in such a realm has no need to know of my business. Instead, food like you should be consumed in silence. Now, come here so that I can eat you.”
Dreunz snorted.
“Such impudence. I was only slightly curious as this isn’t something one comes across but to have such audacity. Whatever you are it’s obvious you are confused as to your place in this world.”
Purple energy gathered at the tips of Dreunz horns and golden light gathered in his mouth as he spoke.
“I don’t know what happened to that human Kazuki but your mistake was taking on the form of someone I absolutely hate. Eat me, hmph, eat this and die!”
Purple energy shot forward and held Kazuki in place. Dreunz then spat a large sphere of light outward and it took on the shape of a radiant sun. The temperature in the air began to rise again and warp before the glowing hot sun shot forward like a meteor.
Kazuki on the other side didn’t even try to move. Instead, the demonic smile on his face only stretched wider before he once again opened his mouth farther than what should be humanly possible.
*FSHHHHHHHH*
The sphere in an instant shrunk down to half of its size followed by another half and so on and so on as it was entirely inhaled into Kazuki’s throat.
Once again the black lines across Kazuki’s body spread out covering him even more.
“Yes, this power, this is what I have been craving. This is what I have been missing for so many eons. Now that I have entered this small realm, never again will I be without. More, I need more and you little beast will be the start. Enough with the teasing snacks. Come here and be devoured by me.”
Dreunz didn’t know how to respond to that. This small human should have been completely obliterated by one of his dual suns yet Kazuki still stood in front of him.
(Not only did this strange human creature not die but it also ate my attack. This thing…this foul abomination must be destroyed.)
Kazuki took Dreunz’s silence as noncompliance but instead of feeling anger, excitement grew.
“Not coming to me, fine, I’ll come and have a bite myself.”
Kazuki opened his mouth and the space magic holding him in place began to flow into his mouth. He was eating his own prison.
Dreunz knew that this wasn’t right nor the time to hesitate. He immediately sent out more space energy and increased it around Kazuki. His swords could hold a being in place but his space magic could swallow up a user’s magic allowing them to not use any at all. This was one of his greatest abilities. To create a prison around one’s enemy and then prevent them from using their magic properly. Dreunz had used this same ability hundreds and thousands of times in the past and it had never failed him. He even held a Titan in place for several seconds which allowed him to escape death.
This ability was one that could even stop a Titan for a few seconds yet not even a second after Kazuki opened his mouth, Dreunz felt a strange suction power, and the very next moment, every ounce of space energy he put into reinforcing the cage had vanished.
“That was tasty but not enough.”
Flames erupted beneath Kazuki’s feet and his body blurred with after images. Dreunz’s eyes went wide.
(This speed, he’s faster than before!
A fist appeared in front of Dreunz’s face but Dreunz was still quicker. A slight turn of his head and the fist ripped past his face. Kazuki’s fist opened and withdrew just as quickly as he tried to grab hold of Dreunz by the neck.
Dreunz flashed to the side and distanced himself.
He could feel something warm flow down the side of his cheek. A small cut had formed on the side of his face.
(His fist is tough. To damage my face by simply brushing past it. I can’t avoid him in this form. My body is simply too big and his too small. I’ll have no time to draw energy and create my dual suns. I must fight him in my human form to have the advantage in speed.)
Dreunz shrunk down and once more took on the form of an old slender man.
Kazuki raced forward, the flames beneath his feet concentrating and growing brighter, his acceleration, in turn, picked up along with his speed.
He appeared behind Dreunz almost instantly. His mouth open, he snapped his jaws close at Dreunz neck. Dreunz eyes widened and he flashed forward.
(I knew it, he is faster than before. If I were still the size of a hill, hed have taken a chunk from my body.)
Dreunz flew forward and pointed behind him.
Several beams of concentrated light fired from the tips of his fingers.
(He may be able to eat a source or two but at this speed, he’ll have difficulty eating them all at once. When he fails to consume them all, I can trip him up and
Dreunz’s thoughts went blank as Kazuki consumed all of the light in an instant. Even the light that wasn’t completely aiming for him. Dreunz watched as his light bent and went directly into Kazuki’s mouth. The moment it did, the lines of black grew more and Kazuki’s speed increased again.
(How is he faster. He can only use so much magic. No, it’s not his magic that’s increasing, rather that strange aura. That is propelling him forward even quicker than the flames beneath him.)
Dreunz sent out his aura and could sense the strange aura covering Kazuki. It was large and dense, much denser than almost any other, he’s ever witnessed. This aura felt like a black abyss. One that consumed everything, neverending in its pursuit, never ceasing and limitless.
Dreunz began to get an idea behind Kazuki’s newfound power but still, he needed to test it.
Curiously he fired a smaller beam of light behind him and again Kazuki ate it up. the dark lines grew thicker and spread a bit more. As they spread, so to did his aura grow.
(Such vile greed. My power is only making his aura grow stronger. I’ve never heard of such an ability yet I’m witnessing it first hand. How am I to beat a creature that eats all of my magic.)
Dreunz felt a weird sense of irony at this moment. Usually, it was his space magic that could consume the magic of others, and make them powerless but now it was he that couldn’t use his power properly on Kazuki. If he did, it would only make Kazuki grow faster.
(I can’t use magic on him otherwise it makes that strange aura grow stronger which in turn makes him faster. His body is also tough. His fist merely brushed past my face yet it left a wound, a small one but a wound none the same. His body is tough but how tough can it truly be. He is a human at the 5th stage and I am an Ancient beast. Not only that, he no longer wears that weird armor. If he’s human, can he not bleed just the same as the rest of them?)
Dreunz believed in this. He was an Ancient beast. a being near the top of the food chain, while Kazuki was a mere human. There was no way he would lose when it came to physical combat.
Light began to warp underneath Dreunz feet and he accelerated even faster. In an instant, he was several hundred miles ahead of Kazuki. Turning around, He saw Kazuki a few hundred miles away and quickly closing the gap. Light warped beneath his feet once more and he flashed forward, charging straight at Kazuki.
(I don’t care what happened to this human. Weird aura or not in the end it doesn’t matter. He is still only an insignificant human.)
The two blurred as they charged ahead and streaks of light formed behind them as they moved faster than lightning.
