Return of the Fallen Volume 8 Chapter 15

Mei started to pout, but Tsura ignored her puppy eyes and went back to Bozek.

“Bozek, out of all of us, you are clearly the strongest. Mei and I both have combat experience, but compared to your own and with your strength, well, you can see where I’m going. Not only that, but Garn thinks he killed you. He’d never expect you. You can move across this continent at a great speed and arrive back in the Patar desert within two weeks. To deliver a warning to Nunully and the others, this is something only you can do.”

Bozek didn’t quite know what to say. He had just escaped death, but he was to be made to go right back into the lion’s den. He barely managed to escape last time, and that was only thanks to a precious treasure his mother had left him as a child. Said treasure was no more, and so if he got hit by Garn’s powerful weapon…Death was guaranteed.

At the same time, though, Bozek felt a sense of responsibility. Not for his own safety but for the innocent people who had no defense in this war. Garn was supposed to be one of the shields for the people, but he was a crazed animal. If he were left alone, he would surely find a way—find an excuse—to kill more innocent people. Glacious and Etora could easily stop Garn, but they were constantly busy.

Etora could barely be pulled away from combat for only a few minutes at a time. That was how long one of Fera’s bodies would take to be restored. Etora would just barely be able to overcome one, and afterward, he would replenish himself with food. After a few minutes, though, Fera would divide some of her soul and create a fake body.

What was worse is that Fera was clearly doing this to weaken and exhaust Etora and Glacious, but the two didn’t understand why. Fera was at the 7th stage; she had no need to divide her soul and make fake bodies to fight for her. She could come to the Feya continent in a near-instant if she really wished to. Yet, she did this fake body thing time and time again.

No one could understand why, but it was because of this that the two never let their guard down.

If Bozek went to send a message and were he to run into Garn, then he would be completely alone. No one would have his back.

“If I do this, I don’t know how I can succeed. As I said before, Garn must have changed the story and convinced everyone that I’m some sort of traitor. If I go and Nunully doesn’t believe me, she may join Garn’s side. Even if she hates him, if she really thinks I betrayed humanity, she would fight me, would she not? Your daughter is at the 5th stage, just as I am. Although I believe I am superior when it comes to fighting, to go against her while holding back would be detrimental. If she joins hands with Garn, for me to go against one isn’t impossible; to go against double would be sending me directly to my death.”

Lamia slapped her large chest, and it caused a bouncy jiggle, as she proclaimed.

“Nene would never do that! She knows how vile Garn is to the core. He tried to have her killed numerous times. Her hatred and mine run deep for that old bastard.”

Bozek shook his head.

“She’s on his side now, though. Times are strange, and right now we are all at war. Even if she hates Garn to her depths, would she not choose his side if she really believed she was doing it for humanity’s sake? Can you honestly say she wouldn’t?”

Lamia became slightly pale in the face.

“Then…Then what do we do? Garn will turn on her the moment he sees fit. ”

Tsura gently pat Lamia’s arm to comfort her.

“Lamia, breathe. We will find a way.”

Tsura went quiet for a moment. Sipping the end of her tea, she set the cup back down.

“In order for Nunully to not attack you, we would need to convince her. Bozek, do you have any way to contact her directly?”

Bozek sighed inwardly before shaking his head once more.

“I have a new magic device that allows long-distance communication, but because it is designed to communicate to a faraway place, it can only connect to one person and one person alone.”

Tsura and Lamia’s eyes both spoke without words. The question was obvious. WITH WHO?

Bozek felt like an idiot at this moment, as he realized.

“Ah! I can communicate with King Brian!”

Tsura was unsure of who that was, but Lamia knew. Her brows furrowed as she recalled.

“King Brian, isn’t he barely in his 20’s. Even if he’s a king, what can he do against Garn?”

“You three have been in this tiny world for a while, so you may not know, but King Brian is currently in charge of strategic movements, and he is the one who leads the army. Garn orders him, but it’s all superficial. Brian is brilliant. Nunully, I believe she would listen to him if he were to give the message.”

Lamia was still unsure.

“Even if he’s intelligent like you say, how does that put him on our side and not on Garns? Why would he listen to your words at all?”

Bozek then went on to tell them about the previous king he served, King Tobern.

“Tobern was a bastard through and through. Filled with greed, and somehow could only come up with every wrong decision ever. He was controlled by his own rage, and because of that, he cost millions of lives. Garn was the first to suggest we get rid of him, and so Brian came up with an idea, and I killed him. I don’t regret killing Tobern, but I think this was one of the catalysts for Garn to believe he could do anything and get away with it. As for why Brian would believe me and be on my side, the answer is simple. Garn is a threat to the entire world. Just like Brian, Garn is brilliant. While Brian has a mind for strategy, Garn has a mind for magitech. He took the island prison, the one called Iselda, and converted it into a powerful weapon. When Glacious destroyed it, it took him less than a year to create something even more terrifying. Now his floating palace can block 6th stage attacks and can deal out power at the 6th stage as well. Given enough time, who knows what weapon of destruction he’ll come up with.”

Tsura, Lamia, and Mei all knew of this weapon. From what Glacious told them, it was even capable of teleporting great distances, and it could become invincible. Such a powerful weapon, and yet Garn had thought it up entirely on his own. Not only does he have the mind to invent such a thing, but he has every resource necessary and nothing blocking him from making such devices.

There was no disagreement. Garn’s worsening temperament as well as him having such a grand weapon—a man like him who would give up no grudge ever and would pursue a child just because she wasn’t fully human. The same man who would burn a city of innocent people if he thought it would help his cause. Garn was a disaster to anyone and everything around him, and he needed to be stopped.

“King Brian helped come up with how to deal with King Tobern. I don’t know if he did it because Tobern was insane or if he did it for self-interest, but either way, he helped get rid of one madman. He knows more than all when it comes to Garn, he knows what he is. If there was any man who would help me, it would be King Brian.”

Tsura nodded along.

“Right, if he is as you say, then it seems he would be with you. The matter once again comes down to Nunully. If Brian believes you, then he would deliver the message to Nunully and the others, but why would Nunully believe him? The question is how to convince Nunully. Nunully has Glacious’s full support as well as Etora’s. Even if the world was falling into an abyss, for her, they would drop everything and allow the world to be consumed into darkness, just to help her.”

Once more, the room grew silent. How does one convince someone through a stranger’s words? Whatever the message was, it would be spilled from King Brian’s lips. How would she be convinced that this was the number one problem to solve?

Mei finished off all the fruit and snacks and was licking her fingers one by one when she noticed how quiet it became.

“Auntie Lamia, can’t you just write big sis a letter or something?”

Lamia shook her head.

“Mei Mei, it isn’t that simple. If I wrote her a letter, how would it be delivered? Bozek could take it with him, but what if he’s stopped before he can deliver it? Then we are all right back where we started. We have to somehow make Brian convince Nunully with just words.”

Mei tilted her little head and touched her chin.

“Hmm, then why don’t you just use a secret? Just tell Bryan something that only you and big sis Nunully know. If she hears that, won’t she be convinced?”

All eyes suddenly fell on Mei. The idea was so simple yet perfect at the same time.

Lamia sprung onto Mei and hugged her tightly, squishing her little face between two lovely mounds. It was a dream for nearly any man. For Mei, though, she could only find this suffocating. Parting both breasts to the side with a few playful slaps, Mei’s little head popped up between Lamia’s cleavage.

“Auntie are you trying to kill me with these useless bags of meat? I couldn’t breathe!”

Lamia chuckled and hugged Mei even tighter, while Tsura gently patted Mei on the head.

“Good child, you really are your father’s daughter.”

Bozek was the only quiet one at this time. He wasn’t used to being so informal with so many people at once, and on top of that, he was now seeing a child slap a large pair of breasts around like they were playing things while the adults acted as if it were a normal everyday occurrence.

(These people are odd. Good, but definitely odd.)
