Return of the Fallen Volume 8 Chapter 30

A few moments before Kazuki launched a long-distance attack on Dreunz and the other Ancient beasts, he had flown a few hundred miles away from the city of Edngaul and come to a stop.

Shaila, Tozu, and Sasai all stopped with him. Everyone was covered head to toe in Orchalcum armor.

“Kazuki, why did we stop? What are we doing here? And this armor, once we transform into our true selves, they won’t be able to cover even a finger of ours.”

Tozu understood Kazuki might have a plan, but he’d like to be informed if that were the case, so he asked.

Kazuki pointed far off into the distance.

“You all could sense a large aura in that direction, but it seems it’s broken off and headed further south.”

“Broken off. If it’s not heading toward us, then why are we moving as if to fight?”

“You all can’t sense them, but I can. A few thousand miles that way, a smaller group of Ancient beast are heading this way. I suspect they will run into us within the next few minutes. They’ve come from the east, so is it any wonder who they are?”

Tozu, Shaila, and Sasai all exchanged a look. They had all unknowingly felt King Azar’s power. It was terrifying, but they knew they had to face it. When it suddenly changed directions and flew far to the south, they thought the threat was over, but to their surprise, Kazuki continued flying further and further. Naturally, they wouldn’t leave him, so they followed as well.

Come to find out, the reason he continued flying was because the threat wasn’t over. There were more enemies, but only Kazuki had sensed them. They couldn’t help but be in awe of Kazuki’s growth and found it hard to believe that he could extend his aura even further than they, and sense enemies.

Shaila understood, though, that Kazuki was not one to bluff or brag in such situations. So, if he said he could sense other enemies, then she believed his words.

“Kazuki, how many, and are you certain they are headed in our direction?”

Kazuki shut his eyes for a moment and inhaled deeply. With a long exhale, both his aura and dark energy began to seep out of him and mix together. His aura grew and stretched, covering the lands in an invisible power. One hundred miles, then 400, then a thousand, then three thousand. His aura could cover more than three thousand miles. His aura stretched more than three thousand miles before he could feel it faltering slightly.

Just around that mark, he could feel 14 powerful presences. He felt a particular presence. One he was familiar with, with his aura, and knew right away who it was.

(Dreunz.)

Kazuki could feel his rage starting to boil up within him. Because of Dreunz, Kazuki was pushed far beyond his limits and was forced to rely on the spiraling void within his soul world and used the devouring power. In the end, that void, that miniature black hole at the base of his soul tree, turned out to be something akin to a gate to another realm that held a foul creature called a Vazul.

The gate holding this Vazul was breached, allowing the creature into his soul world, where it proceeded to try and corrupt and eat his soul. His brother Kai tried to counter and used up all of his energy to try and destroy the being, but failed. Kai had sacrificed everything that was holding him together and could last no more, and with that, he was no more.

The one who pushed all of this into place was originally Fera, but the one who put the final nail in the so-called coffin, the one who kicked it off, was none other than Dreunz. The hatred Kazuki felt for this Ancient beast was hard to put into words, but Kazuki knew. He knew what lay ahead for the one who did this.

Opening his eyes, he told everyone what he sensed.

“It’s Dreunz, along with 13 others. Each one of them is as strong as Motozu, if not stronger.”

Tozu and Sasai seemed visibly shaken, but Kazuki knew they were thinking with old mindsets.

“Do not worry. Besides Shaila’s growth, you two have become far stronger than you realize. The first time you absorbed the Beast Cores, you were already approaching Motozu’s strength. After this last time, you got even stronger Magical Beast cores to sponge up. I can feel it; deep down, you two are slightly stronger than Motozu and Shaila is even further along than that.”

Tozu and Sasai started to calm down slightly.

“As for the reason why we stopped here, since I know where the enemy is and where they are headed, I will deliver to them some punishment. They think they will attack us with that many out of nowhere; instead, it is they who will be attacked unannounced. Also, I don’t think you all will have to worry about transforming and not having this armor. With my attack, they will have no choice but to stay in their human forms. If they don’t, they will be plucked out of the sky. Facing them with this armor should give us a slight advantage.”

Kazuki spoke up to here when Danny flew over. They had left without him, but there was a reason.

As soon as he showed up, the reason became obvious. In his hand, he held a long saber. The blade was a black-silver color, and the hilt was a dull white. Danny’s golem body was well over 9 feet tall, so the saber itself was made to match him. The length of the blade itself was nearly 7 feet.

Danny spoke with an artificial voice as he arrived.

“Sorry, I’m late. Old Sid was finishing this up for me.”

Sasai saw the length of the blade and scoffed.

“That blade is far too much, even for a saber. It will break the moment it lands upon an Ancient beast’s tough exterior. It seems the midget has made you a decoration instead of an actual weapon.”

Tozu glared at his brother before he asked politely.

“Forget my brother’s words; may I see it?”

Danny held the blade up, and with a flip, the sword hilt was in front.

“Go ahead. Maybe you’ll be able to appreciate it, unlike some with bad eyes.”

Sasia hissed.

“What was that? Say it again, I dare you!”

Danny’s metallic face smiled.

“Seems not only the eyes are bad, but the ears can’t hear either. Maybe I should show you just how sharp my saber is; I could use a nice sheath for my new blade.”

Sasai flew over and got right up in Danny’s face, but Shaila quickly got in between the two.

“Sasai, you were rude, and you know it. Both of you stop now, or I’ll get angry.”

Sasai swallowed hard before backing away. He may have grown stronger recently, but Shaila was still way above him. She was stronger than both he and Tozu and could give Motozu a run for its money before it was killed. Now, she’s grown even stronger. It seemed as if Sasai would never catch up to her.

Danny nodded.

“Thank you, Shaila.”

Shaila rolled her eyes.

“Don’t Danny. Sasia may have started it, but you definitely continued it. That mind of yours almost seems a waste if the best it can do is play games with someone at Sasai’s level.”

Sasai took offense to that statement, but seeing Shaila was already annoyed, he wasn’t trying to amp things further, so he willingly or maybe unwillingly shut his mouth.

Tozu ignored all the fuss and held the blade high up. Giving it a few good swings, the wind howled and whistled slightly as it cut the air. Tozu felt the balance was perfect, and he could see several inscriptions running through the saber. He didn’t know what they were for, but knowing Sid’s skill and Danny’s magic, it was most likely something that would amplify his abilities.

He handed it back with appreciation for it.

“This saber is quite good. I don’t know much about human weapons, but I know how gifted Sid is. Surely it can’t be anything less than excellent.”

Danny swung the blade himself lightly. He used less force than Tozu, but the moment he swung it, a small tornado formed and faded in a split second. Everyone could see the difference in skill and handling. Danny had been in Kazuki’s soul world equivalent to more than one hundred years. In there, swinging the sword was an obsession, to say the least.

When everyone saw the difference between Tozu and Danny, they couldn’t help but admire it.

“After the last battle, it was more than apparent that I was the weakest when it came to attacking. I had Sid make this for me in between when he was making Kazuki’s new toys. I may not be the strongest nor the quickest, but with this weapon, I’ll show our enemies what my blade can do.”

Sasai was still skeptical, but he could feel Danny’s overflowing confidence and said nothing in retort.

At the same time, Kazuki pulled a large chunk of god metal from his ring and began to shape many javelins.

“Now that everyone is here, it’s time to lower our enemy’s number.”

Tozu wondered out loud.

“Don’t tell me you plan to throw those from here!?”

After a few of the javelins were shaped, Kazuki smirked.

“Just watch me.”

Kazuki grabbed one of the javelins and arched back. The muscles on his arm and lower back bulged. Circulating his ki, even more power came to him. Taking a deep breath, he used aura strengthening, and his strength grew several times more.

Exhaling, he released a roar and launched the javelin with all of his might.

*RAHHHHHHHH!*

As soon as the first one was launched, he proceeded to launch two more in rapid succession. Each one, as though they had been teleported, vanished out of sight the moment he threw them.

With deadly accuracy, the three javelins found their targets, and it was on.
