Return of the Fallen Volume 8 Chapter 33
While some of the Ancient beasts concentrated and fired their power continuously into the dark fog, others barely made any effort, if any at all. Both Dreunz and Camila watched this with anger. At this time, though, there was almost nothing they could do. Ancient beasts were prideful and listened to nearly no one. Being at the top of the food chain brought about a sort of arrogance.
The only one they would truly listen to was their King. Other than that, everything else was based on mood and was left up in the air.
Dreunz began wondering what King Azar would do to these fools once he found out about their unwillingness. Camila, on the other hand, was more brutal and only thought about how she would kill these selfish fucks. All she wanted more than anything else in the world right now was vengeance against Kazuki and the beasts at his side, but because of her so-called comrades and their lack of effort, it was taking much longer than she felt was necessary.
If she could rip their throats out along with Kazuki’s, only then would she be satisfied.
Inside the dark fog, Kazuki could clearly sense Dreunz’s dual suns. He knew things were about to get more difficult. It was one thing when his enemies were firing their magic inside the dark fog aimlessly. With Danny’s saber and sword forms, he could cut through their energy and render their magic mute. Dreunz’s power was different.
He need not fire his power inside to disperse the black fog. Even with Shaila using her all to keep this dark fog around, light and dark were counterparts of one another. The more light there is in this situation, the less dark there could be. With Dreunz’s power, his dual suns would create so much light that Shaila’s darkness would be shredded apart, and they would all be revealed.
Kazuki’s plan did not work if they could be seen, so he put his all into trying to destroy such an attack. He threw one javelin after the other toward the Dreunz, but two large, tanky Ancient beasts continued to block his blows.
It was strength viruses strength. At this range, Kazuki’s throw was even more dangerous than earlier, but the two Ancient beasts blocking were no sheep. With their physical bodies, they fended these javelins off with punches and kicks. While their fists and feet bled, they just managed to deflect these throws.
Tozu and Sasai, as well, had yet to stop shooting columns of fire and beams of dark energy at all the other Ancient beasts. Each of their attacks, though, was minuscule and weak. Petering out the moment they come in contact with the enemy’s barriers. These weak attacks only caused the enemy’s confidence to grow. They felt the only real threat inside the fog was Kazuki, and his threat was not one that came from magic but instead raw strength. As long as they overwhelm the human with their magic, he would meet his end the moment the fog was destroyed.
Because of this, the mood of most of the Ancient beasts started to change very quickly, and they grew cocky. So cocky in fact that a few started to have a casual conversation right there and then.
“Dreunz, is this all they can muster?”
“Right, the human may have decent strength, but even with his full strength, as long as we’re prepared, even his javelins can be knocked away.”
These Ancient beasts started to look down on Dreunz. He was defeated by such a pathetic group that likes to turtle up. They then thought about how he lost, and a few began to chuckle.
“Dreunz, how could you let this human trick not only you but your grandson as well. Such incompetence. If you just pay attention to this human’s tricks, it becomes obvious how he fights. Such a petty way of fighting; it’s nothing as long as you have two eyes and you aren’t an absolute fool.”
*Hehehe*
*Kukuku*
Several laughs spread among these Beasts and Dreunz felt his blood boiling. The way they spoke, they were clearly calling not only him a moron but his grandson as well.
(These fucking worms dare insult me and my grandson! As long as you pay attention, you won’t die. Are they really so foolish!? Are they really seeking their deaths from me so eagerly!)
Dreunz wished to murder them at this moment, but he knew things were not so simple. After fighting Kazuki only a single time, he understood how clever Kazuki could be. During his fight with Kazuki, the human had come up with multiple plans and multiple strategies throughout the fight. Dreunz was clearly superior when it came to both magic and speed, yet he could not put an end to Kazuki. There was always another card he played, another idea he had come up with.
Dreunz had been in many life-and-death battles. Never had he been in such an odd fight as the one he had with Kazuki. A fight in which he held seemingly every advantage, yet he just couldn’t crush Kazuki, and in the end, it was he who was forced to flee for his life.
While Dreunz was on the verge of spitting blood, his daughter Camila’s eyes were starting to shine with a rainbow-like color. The moment Dreunz saw this, he knew what his daughter was trying to do. Cutting an ounce of his concentration, he willed one of his blades of light forward and made a small cut on her upper arm.
The moment she felt this cut, the light in her eyes faded, and she snapped out of it. She stared at her father in confusion, but Dreunz, in return, glared at her. Without words, she knew what he meant, and she could only comply.
“Forgive me, father. I..I will only use that power on my enemies.”
Dreunz slowly closed his mouth. The dual suns had been completed.
“Forget it. They…for now they are not worth it. King Azar will put them properly in their place. For now, let us finish what we came here for and put this to rest.”
Camila continued to gnash her teeth but she obeyed her father.
Dreunz shouted at the other Ancient beasts once his suns were complete.
“PREPARE TO KILL THEM THE MOMENT THEY ARE EXPOSED! WASTE NO TIME WITH GAMES AND TAKE THEIR HEADS ON THE SPOT!”
Even though he told them to prepare, a few of them clearly didn’t care. Even though they had witnessed firsthand a few of their comrades die at the hands of Kazuki merely minutes ago, they only saw it as their comrade’s foolishness. After all, the other beasts at Kazuki’s side were weak and Kazuki himself could only throw javelins. If this was it, the danger was quite limited.
This confidence of theirs was exactly what Kazuki wished for. Even the javelins he had been throwing at the Ancient beast since they arrived were not with his entire strength. With their guards lowered around an enemy, they only had their selves to blame for what came next.
Dreunz’s dual suns didn’t have to enter the fog to destroy it. With a slight movement, these hill-sized sources of light began to destroy the dark fog. Dreunz simply moved them close to the fog and the fog started to fade as if a cowardly enemy in retreat.
Energy gathered at Dreunz’s fingertips and Camila rotated blades of wind at her side creating several tornadoes. A few of the Ancient beasts also made storms of lightning or walls of blazing infernos. A few of the others though still stood around in the sky with no fear at all. Even the magic they prepared was only in show and play.
The dual suns moved closer and closer, and the dark fog shrank more and more until it was only about a hundred feet long and the same in width.
The moment it came to this, Kazuki inhaled deeply. His lungs filled with so much air that his stomach and chest expanded. He gathered his aura as he inhaled, and using Zetrazz’s technique, he combined the element of darkness with it.
The dark fog surrounding them was now about 20 feet in diameter.
With his power gathered, Kazuki forced all the air out of his lungs using both his strength and inner ki. His aura breath came rushing out in a monstrous roar.
*RAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!*
This roar exploded outward and boomed into the sky. The last of the dark fog was torn through by his roar, which caused the air in the surroundings to crack and explode further. The sky shook and boomed as if a thousand bolts of lightning had descended, and their thunder echoed out in mad fury.
The Ancient beasts all felt something shake within them and reverberate at their very core. This, though, was only for a split second, as the very next second they all felt their eardrums rupture all at once. This roar was so loud and so terrifying that, for the briefest of moments, they felt as if it was their King who roared at them and not some human.
Several of them had the hair on the back of their necks stand, and instinctually, deep down, there was a feeling many hadn’t felt in a long long time…Fear.
Including Dreunz, they were all stunned for a moment and froze on the spot.
This was the moment Kazuki had waited for. Several javelins appeared in his hand at this time, and with everything he had, he threw them with all of his strength.
