Return of the Fallen Volume 8 Chapter 40
With the Blood Essence of King Azar coursing through him, Dreunz was imbued with near-limitless strength. At the moment, he could rip god metal to pieces as if it were strips of cloth and right now he had something far softer residing within his grip, Kazuki’s head. With a slight squeeze, Kazuki’s head would be crushed and instant death would follow.
Dreunz’s hatred for Kazuki was something unexplainable by now and because of this, there was zero hesitation. The moment his hand had covered Kazuki’s face and head, Dreunz immediately closed his grip.
*Tshhhh*
…
An odd thing happened. It was something Dreunz had never experienced in his entire life. The moment he squeezed Kazuki’s head and tried to crush it, a strange feeling shot into his hand and he could no longer feel it. He tried to send strength through his arm and into his hand again but by the time his strength traveled the short distance and reached his hand, the feeling was again there and his strength gone.
Dreunz was more than confused but he quickly got over it and simply grabbed Kazuki with his other hand and again tried to crush his skull.
…
Again a strange sensation traveled into his hand and his strength faded. It was like thousands of tiny needles suddenly pierced his hand and severed every connection, whether it be flesh and blood or his magic. It disappeared, followed by a weird stinging pain. The pain at first small but as microseconds passed and became milliseconds, the pain ascended upward to unprecedented heights and was almost unbearable.
It literally felt like his hand was rotting from the inside out. Kazuki grabbed Dreunz’s wrist and a smile appeared on his face.
Dreunz felt something was off and his madness slowed and a peak of clarity returned as Kazuki spoke with a cold bitterness that sent chills up Dreunz’s spine.
“After having every advantage, there was absolutely no way for me to win. You had a barrier with untold power that you let collapse under the poisonous rain. Your swords are no longer protecting you and your suns are further away than I am to you. All of these powers surrounding you, I should have clearly lost to you but now, you allowed me this close without protection. It seems your hatred has left you without logic and has clouded everything.”
Dreunz realized something was incredibly wrong but at the same time, how could he be in any danger. So what if his barrier had been destroyed, so what if his swords and suns weren’t at his side. What did any of that matter? He was still filled with power from the Blood Essence. As long as he had that inside him, he could easily destroy Kazuki.
This was Dreunz’s initial thought but right away he knew…Deep down inside for some reason, he sensed grave danger. The confidence from Kazuki and the strange feeling in his hands.
Alarm bells were ringing in his head, screaming at his mind. The cloud of madness vanished in an instant and Dreunz immediately let go of Kazuki’s head and tried to retreat. Kazuki though had already too a deep breath inward. When he started his training with Zetrazz, it was in order to learn Aura breath. Zetrazz had explained how Aura breath was not only a method of increasing the strength of one’s soul and giving them protection but learning it in the first place gave one great mastery and control over magic themselves. Such mastery and control that it became second nature like breathing.
Spending two weeks inside of his own soul world, time was warped. One day in the real world was equivalent to one hundred days inside his soul world. With Zetrazz’s help, Kazuki was pushed time and time again until Zetrazz’s skill was hammered into Kazuki. Like that, around two weeks passed in the real world while around four years passed in his soul world. Training in and out under agonizing conditions for that long, learning Aura breath, Kazuki did indeed learn to perfectly control the element of darkness along with his aura.
The power of darkness flowed alongside his aura and then from the depths of himself, his ki circulated as well. All three at this moment synchronized and flowed around each other like a perfect storm. Kazuki, for quite a long time now, had been trying to copy Glacious’s black flame. Fusing two powers gave one a terrifying attack. Of course, he had ended that in failure too many times to count which eventually showed him something new.
In an instant, the three powers combined in the center of Kazuki’s forehead and shot forward and into Dreunz’s hand. The combined energies had fused together and shot into Dreunz’s hand. These energies amplified one another, again and again, and again. They were no longer three individual powers and had become something new entirely.
This fused power ripped through Dreunz’s hand, destroying his bones flesh, nerves, and blood. It destroyed everything inside his hand. It broke the bit of aura and burned away all of the magic that Dreunz had poured into his hand.
Dreunz though, whether it be because of this new form of energy was not something he understood or could properly detect or maybe even because he was blinded by madness, either way, the moment the inside of his hand was destroyed, he hadn’t even noticed. All he knew that had happened was his power and strength had left his hand and a strange pain began to build in it.
Dreunz switched hands and Kazuki once more destroyed the inside of Dreunz’s hand. Dreunz finally caught on that something was off and tried to pull away but Kazuki had gripped his wrist. Once more the fused power gathered in Kazuki’s palm and was shot into Dreunz’s forearm.
Once more, power and strength were gone, and all that was left was a building and nearly intolerable pain.
Dreunz felt fear climb up his back and tried to pull his arm away but his strength was missing from this arm.
“YOU WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!? WHAT SORCERY IS THIS!?”
Dreunz felt more pain climbing up his arm and only now looked down at his arm and hands. They were entirely limp and covered in black spots that grew. The spots looked like fresh bruises or something similar but the pain that came with these black spots was far beyond normal. It started to feel as if his hands had been cut off and even his forearm had been severed.
Dreunz immediately brought his foot up and extended his foot.
*BAM!*
He kicked Kazuki dead square in the chest and shattered every single one of his ribs.
Kazuki was sent flying backward through thousands of feet of rock and he spewed mouthfuls of blood but this pain was nothing and could not hide his smile.
Dreunz was about to take flight but right after he kicked Kazuki, he felt that same strange feeling in his foot. The boot he wore was a magic tool and could transform with him to fit his size. After he kicked Kazuki though, the boot instantly fell apart and degraded as if it were a thousand years old. Not only that but black spots began to appear all over his foot.
Dreunz’s eyes widened and now he was fully pulled out from his blind hatred. Yes, he still hated Kazuki but all of his beastly instincts told him to bury his hatred for now and flee as fast as he possibly could.
The last time he had fought with Kazuki, Kazuki had turned the tides and he was forced to fly away. He had hesitated when things turned bad and when he wanted to teleport away he was chased down and wasn’t given a chance to. This time he would not make the same mistake.
Dreunz eyes both glowed with purple light and he was prepared to teleport as far away as possible. However, just when the element of space had gathered in and around him, a weird mechanical-like voice echoed out over the area.
“SEVERING TEMPEST!”
*FWOOOOOSHHH*
Danny appeared in the air above and slashed out dozens, hundreds, thousands of times in an instant.
Blades of energy came raining down atop Dreunz. Dreunz could sense the strength behind these attacks and felt no threat but the moment these blades of energy came slashing down around him, he realized these were not meant to cause harm.
Each of these blades of energy carved away at the gathered space element. Little by little these blades of energy were severing his space magic and half of what he had gathered dissipated and vanished just like that. None of them were strong enough to cut fully through his power but instead chipped away fragment after fragment of the element of space.
Danny raised his blade again and again slashed through the air.
“SEVERING TEMPEST!”
(Damn, this one is trying to delay me! I cannot teleport but does this bastard think he can keep me from fleeing. Think Again!!)
Dreunz dodged most of the energy blades and turned to fly away when once more a shout rang out.
“ENDLESS NIGHT!!”
Several dark blades came crashing down upon Dreunz and struck him heavily in the back. They weren’t enough o damage him but ti still knocked him backward.
Following Shaila’s attack, two more attacks descended downward.
A beam of dark energy and a blast of fire.
Danny, Shaila, Tozu, and Sasai, all of them had returned.
