Return of the Fallen Volume 8 Chapter 56

Berus continued to shout at the top of his lungs but Azar kept him pinned to the ground. A thought passed through his mind at this moment.

(Should I kill him while I’m at it?)

A million scenarios played out in Azar’s mind but in the end, he concluded it was better to keep Berus around just in case and he removed the intense gravity field from around Berus.

Berus continued to shout something but Azar ignored him. His body that was already slightly larger than Glacious from the start of battle, after consuming the blood essence, it expanded and grew several times over. His muscles ripped and regrew and then ripped and regrew. Now he was over ten feet tall and exuded a dense power.

Berus on the sideline suddenly shut his mouth as he felt something was off. Azar’s power was now far greater than his and his beast instincts set off alarm bells in his head. He now recognized the danger. If he kept running his mouth, there was no guarantee that Azar wouldn’t simply kill him here and now.

(This power, it feels god-like. Has Azar actually ascended to such a level. Did he really get there before I Berus!?)

Azar turned his attention to Glacious who was staring back at him with a look of disbelief.

“What’s wrong little lizard, finally scared?”

Glacious’s gaze turned vicious.

“That amount of power, I never knew one could consume their own Blood Essence and grow to such strength.”

Glacious didn’t answer Azar’s question but Azar could tell Glacious was on edge, ready to bolt at any given moment.

Azar’s confidence grew.

“True, normally consuming my own Blood Essence will do nothing but as you saw, when I absorbed it, it was filled with both my power as well as Berus’s. Right now, I am the most powerful being on the planet.”

Glacious didn’t deny it.

“Maybe so, but superior strength doesn’t mean you will win.”

Right after Glacious said that the scales on his body started to change color. They went from a reddish-black color to a full metallic black. His scales seemed to absorb all color from his surroundings, making his scales appear even darker than what they naturally were. These pitch-black scales condensed and became harder and harder.

Azar spectated this with a curious gaze.

“So that is the rumored Supreme God Scale technique. Scales as black as the night and said to be harder than both Adamantium and Orichalcum combined. When I was a cub, my father told me tales of the legendary ancient dragon skill. Long ago it was this technique that allowed Dragons to claim superiority over not just the lower realms but the realms above as well. Somehow it became lost and was said to have died with the ancient dragons, yet you out of all in your clan were born with such a gift. It is this technique that has given you the so-called invincible body. After all of these years, none have ever penetrated it, well there was one. Many years ago you let down your guard and took a powerful soul attack by the Titan called Aruzai. Out of the few Titans that live in this world, you managed to suffer such a loss to the weakest of them all.”

Azar smirked. Glacious though nodded.

“True. I was foolish that day and because of that soul attack from Aruzai, I was weakened to such an extent that I could not use this technique. If you and Berus were smart, you would have tried and killed me then. Now that I have recovered and then some, my Supreme God Scale is no worse than it was. Even with all of that power you now possess, you will only be left with disappointment in the end.”

“Is that what you think!?”

As these words left Azar’s mouth, his body expanded several thousand times and he took on his true form. A lion with a full black mane and fangs longer than the tallest tree. Even though both were the size of a mountain right now, it was clear that Azar was still much bigger.

“Shall we test it out then!? Let me see just how tough these scales are!”

No more words needed to be said. The gravity around Glacious increased thousands of times over but he quickly countered. He couldn’t remove all of the gravity with his own gravity and instead opted to use a sword form.

He opened his mouth and a hurricane ripped out.

(Severing tempest!)

His sword form energy and the element of wind came together and tore away at the suppressive gravity but Glacious found that even with his magic and the sword form, it still couldn’t tear through all of Azar’s gravity. Azar was just that powerful. Glacious felt his body sinking toward the ground but what was the point of having dragon wings if one didn’t use them.

Unfurling them, he flew into the sky and out of Azar’s gravity.

“WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU CAN GO!”

Azar roared and a white-blue column of fire rushed out and at Glacious. The speed of it was far too fast and Glacious was still slightly slow from the gravity. He spit out his own black fire and after his flame was away from him he raised a barrier of fire and tried to lock Azar’s attack with the element of space and crush it with gravity all at once.

Azar’s powerful flame ripped through all of this in seconds, however, after each breakthrough, it weakened slightly. These barriers and powers and sword forms, none of them could last in front of such might and Glacious took the brunt of this flame.

*TSHHHHH FWHOOOOSHHHHHH!*

Glacious was covered entirely in a wreath of thick hot flame. The heat of which was hotter than many stars combined. If this flame had been aimed at the ground, all life would have been destroyed as the very air itself would turn one’s lungs into ash.

Zetrazz observed all of this from the shadows and he began to grow excited. At the same time, his power began to encircle this field of battle. Repairing the continent again and again was already becoming annoying to him. He’d much rather surround all participants who were fighting with his power. He made his own barrier of darkness around a few hundred miles like a cage. Now all damage would be condensed to this small area and he wouldn’t be too bothered to clean up all of the mortal’s messes.

At the same time, this barrier of his made it so no one could come in or out without his permission. That or if they were strong enough to actually tear through his power but he had some doubts about that. On the other hand, he grew even more thrilled at the possibility that someone could actually do it.

Of the three now trapped inside his barrier, there were only two that he thought might be able to do such a thing. Obviously, it was Azar and Glacious. Zetrazz didn’t even bother to give Berus a second look. Seeing how scared Berus became as he was almost sucked into the black hole, this cowardice, if Zetrazz took the form of a creature then it would leave a bad taste in his mouth.

Speaking of Berus, he as well wasn’t far behind and he quickly transformed into a large silverish bear. Blue hardened crystals covered his body in certain spots. From the top of his back to the end of his spine, these sharp hardened crystals covered his back in spikes. Over both his shoulder as well as his claws were covered in these sharp hardened crystals.

The moment he transformed, Azar’s white-blue flame had finished burning and revealed an unharmed Glacious.

Azar was annoyed.

“Supreme God Scales, it would have been disappointing if they had crumbled under this much. At least they live up to here. What about pure strength though!”

Glacious could feel remnants of extreme heat on the surface of his scales but he was still fine. The wind around his scales hissed as the rising heat pushed the air away from him at high speed.

Glacious was still worried about Nunully and the others but he realized he took too long. He should have gone all out and used all of his strength but dragons were cursed with pride. He thought he could take them in his human form and finish them in a few seconds. He never imagined, Azar could consume his own Blood Essence and gain such strength. This was his prideful mistake.

He knew there was no way he could get to Nunully and the rest in time. From the start of the fight until now, only five minutes had passed but he knew he wouldn’t make it in time. He felt bitterness in his heart for being too prideful and too slow.

At this precise moment, Glacious felt a presence moving rapidly in the distance. He had never felt this person’s aura before but with his own aura, he could sense the soul of this person.

(Kazuki! Your alive!?!?!?!?)

Glacious’s expression started to change. He could feel Kazuki’s power and his heart began to calm.

(Kazuki sensed me but he knows he can do nothing here. I don’t know how this has come to be but if Kazuki is alive and has this much strength, Nunully…everything will be fine.)

As Glacious thought up to here, Berus appeared behind him in a flash and tried to stab one of his crystal spikes into Glacious’s back. Glacious’s expression changed and without looking behind him, his tail came whipping down with the combined force of his strength, ki, and gravity.

*BAM!*

Glacious’s tail whipped Berus directly in the face and slapped him down several miles deep into the ground below.

After the ground stopped shaking, only silence came from that deep hole.

Glacious flashed a toothy draconic smile before saying.

“Now that the baby is down for a nap. How about we adults have a little chat.”
