Return of the Fallen Volume 8 Chapter 77

“This damn bitch doesn’t quit!”

Etora had just finished speaking of how he overcame the dark being called a Vazul when he suddenly jumped up and shouted in anger.

As soon as he did this, Kazuki, Shaila, Tozu, and Sasai all sensed something approaching from far away. Kazuki stretched out his aura and covered more than a thousand miles easily. The moment he did this he felt his blood boil.

“FERA!”

Etora was impressed with the range of Kazuki’s aura. Comparing it to his own, Kazuki still wasn’t there but his different aura techniques, as well as his mastery, almost made up for his weakness. At least compared to the other Ancient beasts here, Kazuki far outstripped them when it came to aura.

“That’s right. Your vile sister is heading this way. It’s only been a few minutes since I arrived but she’s already tracking me down. I shouldn’t have stayed for this long but I was worried about Nunlly and the others. Garn was acting off lately but I didn’t think things would end up this way. It’s good that you arrived and I wish I could chat more but Fera has to be dealt with.”

Kazuki thought for a moment and was just about to head out but Nunully and Asuna both grabbed him instinctually.

“You can’t!”

Nunully trembled as she spoke but she looked Kazuki dead in his eyes. Her grip tightened around his arm. Asuna as well grew angry.

“Where do you think you’re going? Did you not just promise to never leave us again? You’re not allowed to leave.”

Asuna as well squeezed him tightly but their strength was almost nonexistent compared to his own and it felt like small children had grabbed him.

Kazuki didn’t want to start an argument but at the same time, he couldn’t just let Etora go by himself. He needed to face his sister eventually.

Etora understood Kazuki’s thoughts without him saying a word and put a hand in front of him.

“I know your intentions Kazuki but you can not help me. Yes, you have grown much stronger than where you were before but it’s still not enough. I can feel it. Fera has already killed more than a dozen Ancient beasts as if they were nothing.”

Etora sniffed the air and sensed with his aura.

“These beasts were from the south. They must have come with king Berus. If they’re already dead then Fera’s next target is definitely me. Her fake body is nearly at the 7th stage. Although she can not best me in strength, it still takes time for me to deal with her. With that amount of power, you can do nothing but get in my way. I will lead her away, you get to someplace safe. If she discovers you are still alive, no doubt she will throw everything aside to come for you.”

“Etora, my strength you have only just begun to peek at what I am capable of. Besides I am not alone.”

Kazuki pointed with his chin at Shaila, Danny, and the others.

“You said her fake body is nearly at the 7th stage but that fake form isn’t quite at that level. I and my friends have already dealt with someone who touched that level and it’s us who made it out alive. Besides, last I checked, you had no right to tell me where I can and where I cannot go.”

Kazuki and the others really had dealt with someone who touched the 7th stage. After Dreunz consumed a Blood Essence Orb his power surged upward to near unfathomable levels. Everything about him increased to such an extent that for a brief few minutes, he was almost invincible in Kazuki’s eyes.

If Kazuki had to put it into words then it could almost be summed up with pure luck that he and the rest survived but they survived nonetheless. Not only that, Fera was slightly different, or at least her fake body was. Kazuki had seen her strength and power on display just before he was sent down into the abyssal trench. The strength of her attacks, he knew he could handle them and that speed, he could dodge it. His only real concern was her magic attacks but he felt he could still deal with them to some extent.

Not only that but he understood the weakness of that fake body she possessed.

Etora was doubtful but he knew Kazuki wouldn’t lie, not when it came to such an important matter. He took a glance at Shaila and the others and none of them wavered.

(They really did such a thing? Could it have been when the sky lit up as if a star exploded? After that, the entire continent shook violently and I could sense it splitting apart. So that was them.)

Nunully pulled on Kazuki’s shirt and ripped it.

“NO, YOU CAN NOT GO! NOT AGAIN!”

Asuna as well started to rage.

“Kazuki you bastard! Don’t you dare leave us! Don’t you do it!”

Kazuki sighed inwardly. He as well didn’t really want to go but Fera needed to be stopped. Every now and then the sound of large explosions rocked the sky. Kazuki had sensed Zetrazz forming a large barrier over a wide area far away. Inside was no doubt Glacious and some foes. Kazuki didn’t know who they were but the fact that the battle had still not ended told him enough about their strength. To go toe to toe with Glacious for this long, they were strong, incredibly so.

Kazuki understood Glacious would need help. Things couldn’t last at the current rate. The best way to help Glacious, in Kazuki’s mind was to in fact help Etora. With Etora freed up, he could then rush to Glacious’s side and help him deal with whatever threat he faced.

In the end, this was the goal, free up Etora. If no one helped, Etora and Glacious could both die. Kazuki knew that the best hope for everyone to survive was if Glacious and Etora lived to fight. Without them, there would be nowhere safe for him. There would be nowhere safe for Asuna and Nunully, not with someone to defend them against Fera’s true might.

“If I don’t go, will either of you be able to accept the consequences if Glacious and Etora die?”

Asuna became madder while Nunully froze on the spot.

“What kind of bullshit curs are you trying to put on them. Glacious losing, there’s no way, not in a billion years.”

Nunully snapped back and joined in.

“That’s right! Under the sky, there is no one stronger. Uncle is invincible.”

The moment she said this the dark energy in Kazuki’s compass pulsed. Kazuki could tell Zetrazz took offense to this statement.

Kazuki shook his head.

“You are both wrong. After everything I’ve been through, after everything I’ve seen. There is no such thing as invincible. There is always someone stronger out there and not only that, right now, Glacious is fighting two people who are nearly his equal in strength. Can you not hear the sky crack and tremble every now and then. That is them fighting to the death.”

*Crack Boom!*

Just as he said that the sky erupted and a great echo resounded across the continent, relaying the battle that was currently taking place.

Nunully’s eyes widened.

“UNCLE!”

Asuna couldn’t believe it but the way Kazuki said it, she knew it wasn’t a lie. Something selfish within her wanted to tell him to stay anyway. A voice in the back of her head screamed at her to tell Kazuki to not go anyway. To instead run away to someplace far away together. She wanted to, she truly did but at the same time, she couldn’t abandon what was right. Looking at Nunully’s worried expression, this fact was hammered inside her even more.

Asuna looked up at Kazuki, her eyes reddening.

“Can you win against her…Can you win against your sister?”

Nunully became shocked at that question. It was as if Asuna was giving up right in front of her and was going to let Kazuki leave.

“Asuna! What…What are you saying? He can’t…Kazuki can’t win against her. He must stay no matter what. Uncle…Uncle will surely win. He will save us! He’ll save all of us!”

Nunully shook and trembled even harder than before and tears flowed from her eyes like a river.

Asuna slapped her in the face, shocking her.

“Stop it! Wake up!. Teacher…Glacious is strong, the strongest I know of but Kazuki wouldn’t lie to us. Not only that, the moment we needed Glacious to save us, the moment he was about to appear in the skies, you saw what happened. Something stopped him. The moment we were going to die, your uncle couldn’t get to us in time because he was fighting someone with such frightening strength that it required all of his attention. Teacher, your uncle needs help. Etora is the only one who can help Glacious and Kazuki and his friends, right now they are the only ones who can help Etora!”

This all was like a wake-up call for Nunully. She held her reddening cheek in pain as she looked at Kazuki. Kazuki in turn pulled both her and Asuna in and without a second thought, he pressed his lips against Nunully’s and kissed her deeply.

Asuna and Nunully were both shocked but Nunully didn’t fight it and instead she fell even deeper into his embrace as her breath left her. A moment later Kazuki pulled away and Nunully slowly opened her eyes. Her tears were no more and she wore a listless expression.

Asuna on the other hand simply looked confused and dumbfounded.

“Y..you kissed her. You just went and kis

Before she could finish her sentence, Kazuki’s lips locked with hers and her eyes widened in shock. She quickly broke away from him.

“You…This time you kissssed me and

Once again before she could finish what she was saying he stole another kiss. This one was a bit rougher but this time Asuna didn’t pull away. Her entire body went bright red and she was in a state of shock and felt a flutter rise up from her lower stomach. Her lips felt a tingle and the warmth from Kazuki’s lips seemed to spread all over her body. Her knees went limp and she almost fell but Kazuki held her and continued.

Nunully stared at this kiss and felt some jealousy. Finally, after what she deemed longer and unfair, Nunully pushed them apart. Their lips separated, a line of silver still connected between their mouths.

“Enough enough enough! No more kissing Kazuki!”

Asuna finally snapped out of it and her skin became an even darker shade of red as she shouted.

“What…Who was kissing Kazuki, he’s the one who kissed me!”

Kazuki turned and began to walk away but he made it a mere two steps when Asuna grabbed him once again.

“Hmm.”

“You…You didn’t answer me. I asked you if you could win against Fera. Answer me.”

Kazuki smiled at Asuna.

“Of course I can win. Is there any doubt?”

Kazuki said this with full confidence and a smirk.

“Hmph. Then hurry up and go. You’re wasting everyone’s time.”

“Hmm, you want me to hurry back so I can kiss you again.”

Asuna eyes went wide and unbelievably her skin reddened further as if she were an apple. She then started punching Kazuki on the back as hard as she could but again this level of strength felt like someone was gently patting him on his back.

“Heheh. I’ll be back as soon as possible. I’m off.”

“Just shut up and leave already.”

Asuna shouted one more time but Kazuki and the others had already taken to the sky and left streaks of light in the distance.

As soon as Kazuki was gone, Asuna unconsciously touched her lips. She could still feel a bit of warmth on them from Kazuki, causing her heart to race.
