Return of the Fallen Volume 8 Chapter 91
A few minutes later, the details were hammered out as well as they could be in such a short time. Kazuki sat dead center, while Asuna, Kimi, and Sam sat around him, backs facing him forming a triangle.
Danny sat outside of this triangle, just slightly off to the side.
” Expanding your cores and having so much magic inside of your bodies will be incredibly painful and agonizing. It will feel as if your bodies are being ripped apart from the inside out. My ki and magic can only do so much to deal with the pain but you will still feel an intolerable amount of pain anyway. Is everyone ready? Once this starts, stopping without harm will be impossible.”
Kimi swallowed hard but she nodded yes to Kazuki. Asuna as well seemed nervous but she still agreed followed by Sam.
“Then let’s not waste even a moment more. Close your eyes and focus solely on your cores. I will guide the rest, all you all have to do is endure. If your will isn’t strong enough, your core could go out of control, and the pure energy within will flood outward in every direction. I don’t think I need to explain what this means. Just know it’s the opposite of anything good. Take that as you will.”
All at once, Sam, Asuna, and Kimi shut their eyes and tried their best to relax. Their minds focused completely on their Mage cores. They could feel small fluctuations, as magical energy held within their cores moved in and out of their cores as if the cores were themselves breathing. This suttled fluctuation was somehow calming and very quickly the two nervous ones were fully relaxed.
“Danny, you know what to do. The moment the gates start forming, you will have to watch over them completely. You cannot allow them to grow past a certain point, otherwise
“Otherwise I know all of this already. It was mean that came up with what to do. I know the consequences Kazuki. You just make sure you concentrate. Dividing your attention for so many different actions at once is dangerous in this scenario.”
Kazuki nodded. He knew what he needed to do. Just as Kazuki was about to use his aura, Danny added.
“Kazuki…you can do this and with me by your side assisting, it will work so relax.”
Kazuki knew that was the most encouragement he would get from Danny but even though it was little, this was Danny we’re talking about. Any encouraging was rare so it actually meant more to Kazuki.
(Right…I got this.)
Kazuki shut his eyes as well. Without a second of hesitation, he unleashed his aura. Stretching far and wide, Kazuki spread his aura in every direction for just over three thousand miles. Using his will, he shaped his aura into a large sphere. Within this sphere, Kazuki could sense everything with near-perfect detail. As if he could see it, taste it, touch it, and so on. Every grain of sand and every breeze of air. The clouds up above and the rock deep down below. Kazuki’s aura touched all in this three thousand-mile radius.
Taking in a deep breath, Kazuki willed his aura as if it were a hand from his own body, and in one single breath, he pulled at the world around him. He didn’t pull the sand, nor the air but rather magic. All of the magical energy within this sphere he created, every bitter speck, he brought all of it within a half-mile of himself with he in the center of it. Taking all of the magic in such a large open space and forcing it into a smaller area, the magical energy condensed by many times in an instant.
This caused everything to begin to vibrate as energy was smashing into more energy at a rapid rate.
Even with nothing else, the energy smashing into each other caused sparks of electricity to fill the world around them. Little arcs of electricity scattered and crawled up and down everyone’s skin causing all of their hair to stand up on end.
The feeling was ticklish but Sam and the rest were so focused that this sensation was pushed out of thought.
Coming up to this point was of course simple. The next step, however, the difficulty skyrocketed. Kazuki split his aura multiple times and as he did, a strand of aura sank into Danny, Sam, Asuna, and Kimi. Kazuki felt a pain in his mind as if thousands of little needles stabbed through him. All at once, he entered all of their soul worlds simultaneously. Opening his eyes, he saw all four of them in their own soul worlds.
For a moment he was disoriented taking in four different surroundings at once but he quickly got a hold of himself.
Sam, Asuna, and Kim all stood within their soul worlds and were next to their cores. Kazuki’s called out to all three.
“Come.”
Sam, Asuna, and Kimi, as if they had been awoken from a dream suddenly took in their surroundings and became cognitive that they were no longer in the real world but in their soul worlds. Asuna was the first to realize this and was calm. She had gone through something similar long ago when she received a soul attack from the human-faced centipede Zetsu. She was trapped in her own mind for a time untold. Being in such a place was a thousand times less frightful after experiencing it the first time. Especially since Kazuki was in here with her. With him there, she had forgotten the word called fear.
She gladly walked over, almost skipping as she approached him.
“Kazuki, what do we do now?”
Kazuki promptly held up a hand. Not only in her soul world but in the others as well.
“If your not Danny, please do not talk to me. Hearing you all at once is confusing as hell and trying to respond in kind would make no sense to the others. Again, no in here talk to me unless your Danny and if I say anything after this, it is to Danny only, do not respond back with an answer.”
Sam and Kimi stood in front of Kazuki and Kazuki spoke to them all again.
“What I will do next will feel strange but it is necessary. Do not resist it.”
All three had a confused look but they went along with it. Kazuki in all three of their soul worlds grabbed their hand and placed it on their own soul tree.
The very next moment, Kazuki placed his own hand on their individual soul trees.
Concentrating, Kazuki began to run through his own memory. He recalled how he first learned of the Ourodyess technique. This devouring ability that Etora had passed partly to the Boar King who in return passed it to Abura. Later Kazuki used a Mind Frey on Abura and witnessed this ability and it was later activated by his brother Kai and Danny.
Kazuki didn’t need all of the extra crap and simply focused on the moment he was inside the great monster’s stomach down at the bottom of the Abyssal Trench. Remembering the moment the Ourodyess technique was activated inside of him, Kazuki picked out this specific memory.
Kazuki had wondered how he would heal Sam and the others as the destructive pure energy ran through him but he himself didn’t know how to control his regenerative ability like that. Instead, Danny gave him the perfect idea when he mentioned mimicking the wind with aura. Kazuki did not have the element of wind inside his core so for him to use any of his brother’s sword forms at the time was basically impossible. A solution though came out of this problem.
If Kazuki couldn’t use the element of wind, why not mimic it with aura but the question was how when he had no experience using the element of wind with his core. Yes, he could sue wind if he used the ancient hand sings but that only gathered the elements directly around his hands. That and feeling it with his core was entirely different. To overcome this, Danny who held a soul connection with Kazuki, exchanged memories and experiences with him.
If one can gain knowledge from an orb of magic blood, why not do the same with a soul connection. By entering everyone’s soul world and having them touch their minds to their soul trees at the same time, Kazuki connected with their soul trees, he could share with them whatever he wished. In this case, he specifically went for the moment the Ourodyess technique formed within him.
Picking this out, Kazuki allowed it to flow from him freely and enter their soul tree and into their mind. The very second it entered their mind, all at once they keeled over and the connection was cut.
They began to tremble within the soul world and the soul world itself began to shake. The soul tree, something at the base began to form. A small hole no bigger than a pin needle.
The magical energy in the world, the moment these small holes formed at the base of Asuna and the other soul trees, all of the energy started to draw toward them.
Inside their heads, all at once, a small and unfamiliar voice echoed deep within their minds.
(Devour!)
