Return of the Fallen Volume 9 Chapter 104
After Fera and Zephris had teleported away, he could no longer sense either of them. Now he could feel Fera’s true body was racing toward him from the vastness of space. What took him aback was the fact that Zephris was nowhere to be found.
(She couldn’t have killed him, that was too fast, yet I don’t sense him at all.)
Kazuki called out in his mind to try and speak with Zephris but there was no response.
(Damn! Zetrazz can’t help and now Zephris is gone. That just leaves me.)
The rate of Kazuki’s aura dragging up the giants was incredibly fast but it was still slower than Fera’s traveling speed. By the time he brought them to the surface, Fera would already have landed. With Zephris no more, Fera would be able to manipulate the element of space and fully lock Kazuki in place. He would be no more than a sitting duck.
(No, I have to bring them up faster and faster before it’s too late.)
Kazuki looked around for something, anything but what could he do.
(Teleport them!)
His many tendrils of aura started to move like fingers and write the Ancient language beneath the world. Using the ancient hand symbols his aura mimicked space. Just as Asuna would move objects he called out in his mind once again.
(BLINK!)
Purple energy surrounded both of the giant Azirian’s and in an instant, they disappeared and reappeared directly in front of Kazuki. The Spinning void within his soul world was already active and with a thought, he willed it to devour the Azirian’s whole.
The Azirian’s were no more than a foot from Kazuki. He could literally reach out and grab them but the moment they began to fly forward the entire world shook.
(NO!)
Kazuki tried to fly forward and cover this short distance. To move half a foot, he could do this faster than every being in this world, everyone except Fera. The moment the world shook and he tried to move, his entire body froze in place. He could feel Fera’s power take hold of not only him but the two giant Azirian’s as well.
She tried to actively crush him with the element of space but Kazuki already had his aura protecting him. A barrier of his aura folded two hundred times with aura strengthening and gravity tied in.
The moment Kazuki’s body was frozen still, he thought it was all over. He thought this was it, the end but in the exact moment Fera tried to crush him, she gave her own weakness away. Kazuki didn’t know why or how but when Fera tried to crush him with the element of space, it didn’t work. Her power over space was something Kazuki clearly could no longer compete with. After she absorbed another giant Azirian, she could easily kill him with the power of space alone.
The only reason he could withstand her new strength over space up until now was because Zephris used his own space magic to counter her.
Kazuki wanted to devour her power but at her newfound strength, he would not be able to withstand the force of it. Just like earlier when he first took in her red lightning, he first had to weaken it before devouring it because it was simply too much and would have destroyed him. That’s exactly how her space magic was. Just like the red bolts, her power over space, it was simply too much, or rather that’s what it should have been.
Right now though, he noticed that the amount of power she was using on him was barely a tenth of what it was during their earlier fight.
His body was not being crushed and was only being squeezed tightly.
(Zephris, did he already succeed in weakening her?)
Kazuki slowly lifted his arm and confirmed her powers over him had been reduced greatly. At the same time, he knew the effect of the Miasma on Fera would not hold forever. His body slowly moved forward as he tried to grab one of the Azirian’s.
(Just…a little more.)
He gave up on trying to get both of the Azirian’s. He knew if he went for two he would not get either. Instead, he put all of his energy and focus into claiming the closest one. His aura pulled the closest one to him. Less than 10 inches away. If he wasn’t under Fera’s power, the Aiziran would have already vanished and entered his soul world. Because of this, he needed to physically touch this monstrous giant if he wished to eat it.
Right away, Kazuki could feel Fera’s grip on him and the Azirian grow by leaps and bounds as she drew closer and closer. Every second felt as if a thousand years has passed as Kazuki struggled to pull the Azirian another inch and then another.
(Four more…Three.)
Kazuki actively used his aura to pull the Azirian closer while also slicing away at Fera’s own power using the sword forms. Severing the element of space around him though only became tougher and tougher as time ticked away. The more he severed, the more she was able to replace and the faster and stronger her power grew over him.
(Two more…inches.)
The planet quaked and the air ripped apart as Fera’s booming voice echoed out.
“KAZUKI! YOU THINK I’LL LET YOU!”
The element of space condensed multiple times until purple energy could be seen flowing in all directions a space tear formed right above both Kazuki and the Azirian.
(ONE!)
Kazuki’s fingertip was so infinitely close yet just as he was about to claim hope Fera’s hand came out of the rift and gripped Kazuki’s wrist. With all her strength she squeezed.
“I caught the rat bastard. This is my win!”
*CRACK*
Kazuki’s wrist broke in several spots but Fera didn’t sever his hand and held firm. She exited through the rift and it closed behind her. Like a wild river, all of the space energy within a thousand miles drilled into Fera and replenished her nearly empty Mage core almost instantly.
Kazuki felt the power of space completely fold around him and he could no longer move a muscle.
(Why isn’t she killing me? Why hold me in place like this?)
“Your curious right? Why didn’t I kill you? Don’t worry you will die any second, I just think mother might want to see this, after all, she was the one who really started everything. She put me on this path and I’m sure she wants to see your demise.”
Fera’s ring glowed and her black compass reappeared in the world. The moment it returned, it started to pulse wildly. Kazuki could tell without hearing any words just what kind of joy the bitch observing all of this was having.
“I know mother! Are you really trying to argue again? SHall I put the compass away once again or will you shut up and watch me finish this little bastard once and for all?”
The compass went silent or rather the pulsing slowed.
“Mother, give me the souls first. Let me become a Demigod and become what I’m meant to be. When I meet with father, I want him to see how strong I’ve become.”
The compass once again started to pulse with anger and Fera snapped.
“DO NOT SPEAK ILL OF HIM! HE LOVES ME AND ONCE HE SEES WHAT I AM, HE WILL BE PROUD. NOW HURRY UP AND GIVE ME THE POWER I DESERVE!”
The black compass calmed down but there was still anger present. Almost reluctantly, godly aura spilled out from the compass and shot directly into the remaining giant Azirian’s.
At this time, Zetrazz and Torzz did not know what to do. It was obvious Zetrazz would now be killed when Fera became a Demigod, he at first thought his mother could protect him no matter what but the fact that she didn’t show up this entire time left only doubt. Not only that but once Fera became a Demigod, Zetrazz was unsure Detra could even handle her.
Torzz as well was troubled. After Fera shut him down, it was obvious she didn’t care about handing him the world. Even getting exactly what she wanted, she was just as likely to destroy the world out of spite. The two brothers were lost on what to do but that only lasted for a split second.
(If she becomes a Demigod, there is no place in this lower realm that I can hide from her. Even mother might not be able to protect me. Kazuki…Kazuki is my only chance.)
With the Miasma no longer a threat, Zetrazz could once again use his full power. Beneath the surface of the world, he gathered up every ounce of energy. Every bit of dark power he had below the continent, at this moment it swelled upward. Torzz noticed this and the two briefly exchanged a look but neither one said anything to the other, nor did Torzz make a move to stop his little brother’s actions.
Now that Fera was about to become a Demigod, everything became real and Torzz was thrown into confusion.
(If Fera really achieves this, will she remain true to her promise? Will she keep her word?)
The fact that Torzz didn’t know the answer to this only left him more confused. Just as Zetrazz was about to make a move, Torzz made his decision.
