Return of the Fallen Volume 9 Chapter 111
As the two fought in the ever-expanding depths of space, the Lower Realm began to quake under their might. Blow for blow, power condensed and exploded out around them. Because they were in space, these explosions traveled in all directions in a seemingly chaotic matter.
They moved at a speed that would leave even true experts dizzied as they fought.
They came upon a belt of asteroids as they flew and crashed directly into these massive heaves of rock, ice, and metal causing this stretch of belt to scatter all over. Fera threw a heavy punch with just her strength behind it and inexplicably space was torn and the scattering asteroids were reduced to powder. This punch of hers contained no magical energy and was pure force, yet it defied logic.
There was no wind from her blow, nor some physical force that went from her fist in empty space and hit the asteroids. Instead, there were residual after-effects as the LKower Realm continued to shake and even warp here and there.
Kazuki took this punch head-on ripples of flesh danced on the surface of his body as they were torn away, only to be replaced instantly. Kazuki then raced forward causing small visible waves in space. These small waves were the Lower Realm warping more and more.
Flying directly at Fera, he threw a punch at her face. With a slight twist of her neck, the punch only scrapped her cheek. She then grabbed at his wrist but Kazuki would not allow himself to be caught so easily again.
His hand was at his side before Fera could grab it and his foot rose into a front kick.
Fera attempted to move out of the way once again but Kazuki’s kick was a feint and instead, the white flames beneath his foot burned brighter and combined with darkness and aura. Fusing these three energies, Kazuki’s kick unleashed his touch of death directly into Fera’s chest.
Fera was tossed backward as the combined power pierced her chest like atomic needles. They tore through her chest and organs, reducing them to a liquid state before the energy exploded out of her back. Fera controlled space around her and tumbled no more. She looked down at the large hole in her chest and could see her internal mush insides but this only lasted a fraction of a second as everything regenerated and repaired nearly instantly, closing the wound as if nothing had ever happened.
Fera smiled as she mouth the words.
Not good enough little rat.
There was no sound but Kazuki didn’t need it to understand exactly what she meant.
The two stared daggers at one another before once again clashing. Exchanging hundreds of thousands of blows within a second, a silent battle took place in the stars above. After throwing too many punches and kicks to count, once more the two connected and were launched backward.
Fera smashed heavily into a moon, standing up, the moon was now fragile like glass. Simply taking a step off the moon, it crumbled apart beneath her feet. Kazuki as well crashed into a planet in the distance and smashed through it entirely. Due to his body’s toughness, combined with Fera’s Demigod strength, he went through the planet and continued flying before he finally stabilized. More than a hundred thousand miles away, the two could still see one another and only hatred was between them.
(Kazuki this isn’t going to work. You two have reached a state that cannot simply be bashed apart with brute physical force. The both of you regenerate too quickly in this Lower Realm, at this rate the Realm with fall apart and we’ll all die.)
Kazuki knew Zephris was right. They had been fighting for only a few minutes now but it was obvious this could no longer be solved with fists.
(Then what do you suggest?)
(I already mentioned it earlier, you need to attack her soul. Break it apart and destroy it. Without her soul, she’ll be no more than a lump of flesh and you can kill her with ease.)
Kazuki shook his head.
(You know I know that. I’m asking how. My aura is not strong enough to break her soul. She on the other hand could destroy mine in an instant if not for my Devouring ability. Not only that in order to be the most effective with an aura attack I would need to get in close but her strength is still above mine. If she gets a hold of me and rips off my head it’s over.)
(Do you really not know what to do. That strange ability of yours. When you devour your own magic, it strengthens your soul. Feed the spinning void inside of you with your magical energy and grow your soul and aura.)
Kazuki shook his head.
(I can’t do that. I need it in order to keep my speed up with Fera’s. If I start eating my own magic, then I’ll lag behind her and she’ll catch me in an instant. Not only that but look where we are, the magical energy is spread too thin as it is.)
Fera teleported directly in front of Kazuki and punched him directly in the face. Kazuki’s thoughts were already jumbled but this punch left him swaying. Before he could recover, Fera teleported behind Kazuki, her hands coming together as if she were about to pray as she delivered her combined fists downward like an unholy sledgehammer as they crushed into Kazuki’s chest and stomach.
She teleported once more but as she tried to deliver another blow, this time it was Kazuki who teleported away.
(I don’t think so you little shit!)
Fera’s eyes glowed and she focused on the flow of Kazuki’s energy. She knew exactly where he was teleporting and the moment he reappeared, she had teleported after him and followed him, appearing by his side almost instantaneously. Kazuki predicted this and teleported again. Fera as well continued to follow.
In this way, a strange cat and mouse game took place as tiny flashes of purple light skitted across space.
In his soul world, he and Zephris were still communicating while he was on the run.
(Damn, she’s teleporting on purpose. With Detra not stepping in, it means Fera has free reign to use her space magic. She can’t crush me with it or hold me back any longer but she doesn’t need to. Using this instantaneous movement means that the only way I can stay a step ahead of her is to use space magic as well. I don’t know how much her core holds but there’s no doubt it can hold much more than me. Do you understand what I’m saying Zephris?)
Zephris was feeling the pressure and one could tell in his tone.
(Yes, it means you will run out of energy long before she does, and with that extra power she has over you, she’ll catch up to you and you’ll basically be a sitting duck.)
Zephris was lost on what to do. The way to kill Fera, the both of them knew. Devour his own magic, grow his soul and aura in one shot and then attack her soul with his aura. It made perfect sense, but under these circumstances, he was using his power at a fast rate, a rate that would see him dry of energy at some point. When that time comes he would be screwed.
(There has to be something I can do. Zephris, I don’t suppose you have any ideas, because I could really use one.)
Zephris racked his mind but very little came to said mind. However, one thing did occur to him.
(Kazuki…What about the stars. There are far too many stars to count but the ones who shine upon you, can’t you use the energy from them?)
Kazuki’s eyes lit up. His aura expanded and stretched in every direction towards the stars as he tried to sense them but he quickly found a problem.
(I can sense the element of fire but it’s too far away. In order to absorb that energy, I would need to get fairly close to one of them. The distance to the nearest one would take all of my energy just to teleport to it. The risk of teleporting near one and then being out of magic with Fera right upon me, she could catch me fairly easily then. Not only that, I can sense a force of gravity so great that even I would be crushed.)
Kazuki and Zephris were back to square one as they continued to teleport all across space.
(Damn, this makes no sense. How can space be so empty of the elements? We are literally surrounded by space in every direction yet even the element of space and darkness is so weak. Is it because we are in a Lower Realm?)
Zephris’s complaint was not unfounded. The two were in the depths of space, one would think the element of space, darkness, and light would be abundant but Kazuki could only detect small strands of energy. It was thin and almost fragile in this state. Almost as if someone of their power and strength wasn’t careful, the fabric of this place would completely fall apart and all would be lost.
(Is it really because of the Realm? Is this why Fera called this place a prison?)
