Return of the Fallen Volume 9 Chapter 124

After Sam, Kimi, Shin, and Triska all left, everyone that remained celebrated as if there was no tomorrow. King Brian though knew things weren’t as bright for the rest of the people all throughout the Feya continent. Not only did they not know what had taken place but the after-effects of battle still remained fresh.

As the world was rocked and shaken, several quakes and tsunamis had spread all around. Even with Titan’s containing nearly all of the damage, it still wasn’t enough to protect the inhabitants of this world. Millions upon millions died and for those that managed to live, most were injured. If one was a Mage and could heal or someone who was already enhanced, they could handle themselves but most people weren’t like this.

Most of the population under Fera and Kazuki’s attacks were left blinded by flares and flashes of radiant bright light. When Kazuki created a tool that amplified soundwaves, those waves echoed out over the world and took nearly everyone’s hearing away from them. At the moment, Gordonia hosted billions of people and even more animals and other creatures who were now both blind and deaf.

The world was in a state of panic and desperation. Taking away all of the destruction to buildings and farmland, people were in dire need of immediate help and rescue.

With more and more magic energy finally coming from the world once again, King Brian knew now was the time to step up.

“SILENCE!”

The thousands of survivors heard their King and quickly went quiet.

Just as he was about to speak, Danny tried to say something.

“Brian, there’s still something I didn’t mention. Everyone was so brash and left before I could

“Not now. If It’s not some other threat, then we have more important things to do. The world is in shock, and the people need my help…Our help. So is it that important?”

Danny shook his head. To those around, it really wasn’t an important matter. Only to him and his friends could one consider it meaningful.

“Good, I need your help the most anyway. Put away useless thoughts and help the people, please.”

Danny sighed inwardly but nodded. Not just him, Shaila came over after hearing King Brian needed help and smiled eagerly.

“If it’s help you need, then me and my husband, as well as little Sasai, will volunteer.”

Sasai snorted.

“Hmph, when did I agree to help? Isn’t our part long over? The fightings over, what’s the point of us sticking our noses in anymore when everything is done?”

Tozu as well didn’t understand why his wife wanted to help. She was never so proactive in regards to helping all of these humans before. The only reason they had helped so much before was that they had an alliance with Kazuki that, in turn, became a friendship. Not only that, but this world was also theirs. If Fera had her way, then Torzz and she would have wiped out any and all they didn’t like. Since the threat was now no more, he was confused by his wife’s readiness to help.

Shaila quickly wrapped Sasai in a headlock and pulled him and Tozu into a small huddle before speaking softly.

“Husband, why is it that both you and little brother are this foolish? Do you not see the bigger picture? Originally, an alliance was formed between Kazuki and the rest of us so that we could deal with the other Ancient beasts. Things led us all over, but our deal with Kazuki ended a while ago with the deaths of both the southern and western Beast kings. That, though, isn’t all of the Ancient beasts in this world now is it. We three are still strong, but who knows who may pop up. Especially since there is now a power vacuum.”

Sasai was slightly confused. With his face a bit squished in Shaila’s headlock, he still managed to say.

“You think the other Ancient beasts will try and make a move. They wouldn’t dare. They would be too afraid of Detra. After all, we are under her protection, and once Kazuki is back, he wouldn’t leave us out to dry.”

Shaila shook her head.

“Kazuki is our friend, and we have both been loyal to one another, but we don’t know when or even if he will actually return. As for Detra, she never said she would protect us Ancient beasts. Not only that, she technically never said she would protect the humans, just she wouldn’t let her sons harm them in any way. Now, I do think that extends to protecting the humans from other things, like us beasts in these trying times, but I think that’s only because she still wishes to have Kazuki’s favor. After all, were Kazuki to return and his friends have encountered some accident due to other Titans or Ancient beasts or who knows what, do you think he wouldn’t place blame on Detra? So naturally, she would shield them, but that shield doesn’t extend to us.”

“But you just said she wouldn’t want Kazuki’s friends getting hurt, we are his friends.”

Shaila nodded.

“We are, but since we’re also Ancient beasts, we will most likely have a conflict with the other Ancient beasts. Do you think Detra will interfere in every little battle that involves us beasts? The answer to that is obviously no. So in order to come under that protection, we need to make ourselves more involved with these humans.”

Tozu was starting to understand and agreed.

“We need to unify with them so we appear to be a part of them.”

Shaila kissed Tozu on his bald head.

“I take it back honey. You aren’t as foolish as I initially thought; that’s one of the reasons why I love you.”

Tozu felt proud, but Sasai was just annoyed. Finally, he squeezed his head out of Shaila’s strong grip.

“I still don’t get it. How are we supposed to unify with the humans…You don’t mean we b…breed with them?”

Sasai’s eyes were wide, and his cheeks began to flush red.

Shaila rolled her eyes.

“Yep…No you fool! The younger brother is the dumb one, no doubt about it. This is why I volunteered our help. Think about it. If we go around from one city to the next, healing the wounded, rescuing people and so on, we will be hailed as heroes. We can help them as well as live among them in one of their cities as a part of them. We will join them to recover this world and rebuild it. In this way, they will want to protect us if things were to turn for the worse. What do you think would happen if Ancient beasts were to suddenly attack a human city because they were after us? The collateral damage could spread at unprecedented speeds if things weren’t put to a stop right away.”

Sasai looked as if he had been struck by lightning as he realized what she meant.

“Detra!”

Shaila nodded once again.

“Right, she would put a stop to the invaders trying to harm us, not to protect us but to protect the humans around us. The humans would see their heroes being attacked and may even ask Detra to help us. One voice may go mute under all of that pressure, but a thousand, a million people calling out for Detra to help us. That is far harder to silence, and beyond that, harder to ignore.”

Sasai and Tozu understood, but if their very survival wasn’t incentive enough, Shaila’s next words would light a fire under their asses.

“Plus, the quicker we help these humans, the quicker we can eat all of the delicious food they can make. Have you two already forgotten when we first arrived in that human city Kazuki brought us to? The restaurant where we ate our fill. So many different and exquisite things we had never tried, yet everything tasted better than the previous. Not only that but all of the different tasty alcoholic drinks we had. The faster we help these humans and live in their cities, the faster we can enjoy all of their delicacies and more.”

Tozu and Sasai were already licking their lips with desire. At the same time, King Brian had overheard them, even though they were trying to be quiet. He looked at Danny for advice, but Danny didn’t see a problem with it.

“Even if they only wish to help so they can live and eat their fill, there’s nothing inherently wrong with that. Really it’s a plus. The lives they could save and in exchange, they live and eat in human cities. Not only that, they could also help with settling some of the disorder that’s surely running rampant or that will soon follow in the aftermath of all of this. I say, let them help if they wish to.”

King Brian glanced at Shaila and the others, and they were eagerly awaiting his approval. Sure, they could simply take King Brian’s kingdom if they wished, but that would put them on several shit lists, and they were not trying to provoke those that shouldn’t be provoked.

King Brian also knew he needed a shit ton of help if things were to go well.

*Haa*

With a slight sigh, he gave a nod.

Shaila and the others grew excited knowing they had gotten the deal of a lifetime. They could already imagine all of the tasty treats they would get later on, and they started salivating.

With that, King Brian quickly formulated a plan with the help of Danny before everyone began to help all around Feya.

At the same time as all of this was taking place, Detra ordered her sons to help fix and stabilize the world while she went back into space. The two were both reluctant, but they understood the situation they were in, and there was no backtalk.

With the fabric of this Lower Realm almost compromised, Detra needed to fix all of the damage; otherwise, Gordonia would be the least of her worries. With this, she roamed throughout this Lower Realm, repairing the damage Kazuki and Fera caused.
