Return of the Fallen Volume 9 Chapter 30
A city built in minutes naturally raised brows from all across the continent. Especially when they found out who had done it. With a city raised and created out of god metal, Zephris could keep his family safe for the most part. He still needed to focus his attention on his research. He was so close to perfecting his Azirian but an empty city brought its own challenges.
Zephris found a solution. A creature that lived in the depths of the mountains. It was the type that was naturally strong and its culture was one that found absolute loyalty in strength. After bringing these creatures under his wing, he enhanced them with a baptism of blood. Their intelligence, strength, and magic all improved by leaps and bounds and they could now manipulate the Orichalcum city.
Zephris crowned one of these creatures as a king of this city. This king followed Zephris’s every command and everything below him followed as well. With this, Zephris now had a city made from god metal along with protectors of said city. Now if there was ever any trouble, nothing would be able to touch his family without going through an impenetrable city and a powerful army or so that his how it should have been.
Only a day after Zephris thought himself secure, a visitor boldly trespassed into his city.
“So you are the famous saint, Zephris the alchemist.”
Zephris was surprised by the woman the moment he saw her. The power she exuded, it eclipsed his in totality.
(Another Titan! The first one was difficult enough to deal with and in the end, I could only seal him away and capture him. This woman though…There is no way to contain her. She…she is the strongest existence I’ve ever come face to face with outside of the Negative Zone.)
“Who are you? You know of me, you stole away into my city and with that much power, your existence is above even mine yet you haven’t killed me. With that much power, I doubt someone hired you as no one could possibly ever control you or hold you to service. More than that, I doubt there’s a single thing in this realm that is worth your attention which again begs the question why have you come to me?”
The Titan smiled hearing this.
“Are you trying to flatter me or do you really not understand why I have come?”
Zephris really had no clue until he thought about the Titan he had recently captured.
(Could she have business not with me but with the Titan I sealed instead?)
Zephris slowly lifted his hand revealing a bracelet made of god metal.
Hanging at the end of the bracelet was a tiny sphere made from some type of transparent material. The clear piece was only around an inch in diameter but on the inside, a small enraged face could be seen within. It was the other Titan.
As soon as he revealed this bracelet and the Titan inside, the woman’s eyes flashed and she gently held out her hand as if waiting to receive it. Zephris though couldn’t just hand this titan over, after all, this titan along with the others who attacked his family, their fighting sent thousand-foot tidal waves crashing into Feya. Their greed to keep him in check caused vast devastation and killed tens of millions of people. Not only that, this titan clearly held a deep-seated grudge against Zephris now. To Zephris’s knowledge and ability, there was no current way of destroying a titan fully as they were basically pure energy with consciousness.
Were he to release this titan from its cage, it would not stop until one side was fully wiped from the world.
“Miss, I don’t know who you are, nor your relation with this titan but he is something that can not be allowed out of this cage. He will only bring destruction to the world and all of its inhabitants.”
The woman looked around at the city before looking back at Zephris.
“I heard the screams of this forest as you rooted it from the dirt and crushed it with these dull walls, is this not hypocrisy on your end.”
Zephris nodded.
“What you say is true but this is necessary. I built this place to protect my family from beings that wish them harm, beings that continue to come after me and will not cease to hurt me or my family. Not only that but my work will do far more good than harm when all is said and done.”
“Really. I’ve heard your name for a while now but have not looked too deeply. After hearing about all of the destruction, I assumed your title as a saint was a title of mockery. Are you telling me you’re actually a saint and it’s all of these so-called enemies that are persecuting you, you hold no responsibility?”
“Miss, believe it or not, I do what I do for peace, not war.”
The woman couldn’t help but raise a brow but her curiosity came forward.
“We’ll see if you’re lying or not. After that, I will decide what happens next young man.”
Zephris didn’t know what she meant but he understood one thing perfectly well. If he were to make a single wrong move in front of this woman, no doubt she would destroy him before he took another breath.
The woman pointed at Zephris and before he could say anything, her eyes began to glow with several different colors of light. Purple, gold, and hints of grey. The very next moment, Zephris felt a power beyond him grip him and hold him in place. At first, he naturally wished to resist such power but every instinct within him screamed out for him to not move an inch.
Then to his absolute shock, his eyes began to glow and project something above him. It was his very own memories.
(This woman, her power…she can see my memories just like my Mind Frey.)
Zephris had worked decades tirelessly before he managed to perfect the Mind Frey and thought him to be a genius among geniuses when he finally created it. After taking in so many memories of others he thought himself to be the most intelligent and gifted being in this world but turns out someone also had a gift and that gift could be used the exact same way as his Mind Frey. Not noyl that but the woman in front of him was a Titan. Who knew how many millions or even billions of years she’s lived. The amount of information she held, when compared to Zephris’s own would it not be like a grain of sand vs every grain of sand in the world.
An instant had come and gone before the woman released Zephris and her power faded.
She went quiet as she thought about his memories before she simply curled her finger and Zephris’s bracelet flew off of his wrist and landed in her hand. Her expression then turned angry before she started to yell.
“YOU VILE SON! AFTER EVERYTHING I’VE DONE FOR YOU! AFTER EVERYTHING I’VE TAUGHT YOU AND YOU DO THIS!”
To Zephris’s surprise, the woman shouting was directed at not him but instead the titan inside the clear piece. The titan as well was shocked and tried to talk back.
“Mother I had to. This lowly creature was causing trouble everywhere he went. If I got control of him, everything would return to normal. At least that’s how it should have been. Who would have thought this ant was stronger than he looks and he
“SILENCE! YOU INSOLENT WORM! I HAVE TRIED AND TRIED AND TRIED BUT MY PATIENCE IS HAS BEEN WORN DOWN TO THE NUB. NOT ANOTHER WORD FROM YOU!”
The woman then tossed the bracelet back to Zephris and he fumbled a bit before he caught it with widened eyes.
“Zephris, I have seen your past. The island incident was not entirely your fault. You did instigate plenty of it but I can’t blame you for people attacking you and being greedy. You though have your own demons but at the same time, it seems you really are trying to give this world peace. I too care about this world. I try not to interfere but this time was a rare event. Who knew that one of my foolish sons would try and capture a small mortal, only for him to be countered and be the one captured.”
The woman’s eyes began to shine once more and a mere second later it was done.
“There, I have reversed the destruction and fixed everything only my son has distorted and destroyed. The other damage and deaths, that is a mortal thing to handle.”
The woman then turned to leave but Zephris quickly called out.
“Wait a minute. What do you mean you fixed what your son has done, what do you mean by all that you just said, and what exactly is going on and who in the 7 realms of hell are you?”
“So many questions but you didn’t even ask why I tossed my son back to you.”
Zephris held up the bracelet and the titan inside was about to curse when the woman flicked her finger. A beam of energy shot forth and landed directly on the bracelet where it then sealed the titan’s mouth shut.
“Don’t you dare say a word Torzz. The disappointment I have right now, you disgust me. Were your father around to see what you’ve done, do you think he would let you off. As of now, you are to remain in this man’s grasp. I give this man permission to hold onto you until he deems fit. It seems he’s the only one with a reasonable sense around here. As for me fixing things, I merely returned the waters to the ocean and repaired the land. Those that my son killed, I brought back to the land of the living. Looking into your past, I see that you really do care about the world and wish for peace but some advice I’d give you, don’t do everything yourself or you’ll go mad.”
The woman then turned once more and vanished. A lingering voice entered Zpehris’s ear.
“As for who I am. You can simply call me Detra. I am the mother and watcher of this world. Take care young mortal. I hope you can reach your goals, I really do.”
