Return of the Fallen Volume 9 Chapter 40
The Miasma, under the mysterious woman’s control, it moved faster than lightning in some instances. Surrounding expert after expert, it melted their bodies with relative ease and consumed them. As it consumed, it grew bigger and bigger and at a faster rate. Even as this speed consumed some of its mass, the amount it ate made up for it in spades.
Several experts found themselves on the brink and instead of being snuffed out, they wanted to at least try and take this Miasma with it. So with the last of their will, they self-destructed but this of course only fed the Miasma more and more. Their so-called self-destruction was only a meal instead of anything that would be considered true destruction.
The situation went from bad to worse as people began to panic and fire all of their magic wildly. Some of this magic was swiftly gobbled up into the Miasma while some were fired below at the city and its surroundings.
Those that were still inside the city, finally realized that something was wrong. They took notice of all of the shaking and explosions above and they flew out to see the cause. They were horrified to see the once small purplish-black Miasma was now a few miles across and wide, along with many of their friends or acquaintances were stuck inside of the dark and were melting away.
They not understanding the consequences of their actions, unleashed all of their power unto the Miasma.
“YOU FOOLS! IT ONLY GROWS STRONGER WHEN YOU FIRE INTO IT!”
They did not heed this man’s call and continued to fire in a wild and disordered manner.
At the same time, Torzz could see the ground starting to fall apart. The experts had fired their magic like crazy and had hit the ground. Now shockwaves and quakes were spreading across the continent.
The ground, under such tremendous force finally gave way beneath the entire metal city and in one fell swoop, the city was swallowed down into the darkness below.
“If you keep this up, my mother will come back and the two of you will be forced into conflict.”
The woman shrugged.
“Torzz, is it me breaking the continent, or is it them? I am merely controlling the Miasma, they are the ones who have dog shit aim and are collapsing all of the lands. If your mother can not see that, does she even deserve to be called a watcher?”
Right after the woman said this the two paused and sensed a powerful force drilling its way up toward the surface.
“Hmm, I know there are several hidden powerhouses in this world but to think one has been laying beneath us all this entire time. Torzz who is the one coming.”
Torzz’s mood changed and it was clear he was angry.
“That is my younger brother.”
The power of darkness came out from the large hole that swallowed the metal city. It was about to attack everyone and everything when it observed the Miasma and the experts going at it. It then turned and called out to Torzz.
“Brother, why have you barged into my territory? Are you challenging me?”
Torzz tone became cold.
“Beneath Feya is your territory not above it. And if I am challenging you Zetrazz, does this mean you accept?”
The dark energy pulsed and a face the size of a hill formed from it.
“If you wish to fight big brother, I’m more than ready at any time. I was just slightly surprised. After how many eons, you have been avoiding my call. Tell me, is today the day you truly wish to be torn apart by me. If so, just declare it out loud here and now so mother knows that you yourself accepted and she will not blame me.”
Torzz suddenly went quiet. He would be more than glad to rip Zetrazz apart but he wasn’t 100% confident. Recently, his younger brother had been growing more and more powerful at a frightening rate and he had no idea how or why. If the two of them really fought, it was possible he could lose.
“Hmm, brother, have you forgotten your tongue and become afraid. Does this mean you’re backing down…again? Hehehahahaha. You’ve grown weak or maybe I’ve simply grown far too strong.”
Torzz stared coldly at his brother and felt his rage boiling over. Even if there was a possibility of him losing, he couldn’t stand Zetrazz’s smugness. His power began to gather, and in response so to did Zetrazz’s. Right, when it seemed like the two would come to blows, The mysterious woman, held up a hand and a wall made of light separated the two.
“Torzz is it you who now serves under me or am I mistaken?”
Torzz nodded.
“I did not lie when I gave you my oath. I’ll die before I break it.”
The woman nodded.
“Then tell me, when in the 7 realms of hell did I give you permission to fight, hmm?”
Torzz felt his anger climbing even higher but he knew the woman’s strength and cooled down fairly quickly.
“You did not give me permission. Forgiv
“Silence! If I wish to hear an apology, I’ll let you know. I only wish for you to do what I command and nothing more. If you understand then nod and step back.”
Torzz said nothing and nodded before retreating a few steps back.
Zetrazz was shocked by this.
“Brother, have you really been tamed? In what world is this possible?”
Torzz said nothing and only glared at Zetrazz.
Zetrazz finally looked at the woman in front of him. He could sense a vast amount of power coming from her. It was far greater than his own but he still cared not. In his eyes, she was still a being of the flesh while he was of energy itself. He was immortal and she was of men and women. They were ants. He truly looked down upon her.
The woman could see the despise in his blackened eyes and couldn’t help but smile.
“Is there something you have to say to me?”
With his brother now a lap dog, Zetrazz’s interest in him wained. Instead, he focused on the reason he came here for. He could see the Miasma still engaging with the experts. In his eye though, the Miasam was only consuming the experts while the experts were the ones destroying the continent.
“Hmm, they are breaking the continent but mother has not reached out to me. This situation is odd. Should I just kill them all but this fight is rather entertaining. That dark presence, it moves strangely yet I can’t sense energy from it, what is it?”
The woman started to grow pissed from being ignored.
Zetrazz could care less though and instead made a decision.
“I think I’ll let the fight continue. I’ll protect the surroundings for now. If those fools win, I’ll kill them. Since that Mist isn’t actively breaking this place, I’ll let it slide.”
Zetrazz moved and dark energy surrounded the area. He fixed the lad they had destroyed and placed a barrier over the one the woman had placed, except his covered beneath the ground as well. Zetrazz grew more and more interested in the fight and wanted to see who would win.
The woman behind him though was pissed. The power of space and light combined at the tip of her fingertip and without a second thought, she fired it at Zetrazz. The power contained within this one-shot was enough to sink the entire continent into the very depths of the ocean.
Zetrazz though predicted this would happen and quickly moved out of the way. The moment he avoided her attack, it was obvious where her attack was heading. It was about to impact the world. If it did this, she would be responsible for breaking the world apart and for breaking Detra’s rule.
The thought of an unexpected war and that the cause would be her. She was more than willing to fight but if the reason for the fight was due to her purposefully breaking the world, it would be her that was left in the cold. It would be her who would be held fully responsible. She was not afraid of Detra but she was terrified of her own ancestors. If she was held responsible, she could be banished or far worse.
The woman quickly upturned her finger and the direction of the shot changed. This woman grabbed at the empty sky in front of her and she tore space open, creating a door to someplace far away. Her shot flew into the tear in space and exploded. Just before the shockwaves escaped from this tear, the woman sealed it closed and the tear in space disappeared.
The woman stared hatefully at Zetrazz. He had dodged her attack on purpose. Zetrazz though laughed.
“Bwahahaha. You fell for it so easily. If only you had gone through with it all the way. The ones in the higher realm would have torn you apart and there would be no escaping them.”
The woman was taken aback and her eyes were wide in disbelief.
“You know who I am?”
Zetrazz nodded.
“Only what mother has told me. Go and pretend to be angry at your brother. Ignore you and provoke you so you slip. It almost worked. No chance I’ll get another opportunity like that again but who knows. You should not have upset mother. Now not only is she watching you but so too am I.”
Zetrazz began to sink back into the ground all the while laughing at the mysterious woman. The woman was pissed but she was now on guard against Zetrazz. She didn’t dare try and attack him for fear of being tricked again. She knew this was a warning to her. As long as she doesn’t do anything too crazy, he won’t interfere but if she makes a mistake, then both he and Detra would find their opening.
The woman glared at Torzz.
“Why did you not warn me about your brother’s devious ways!?”
Torzz reminded her.
“Was it not you who told me to be silent. I simply followed your wishes, master.”
The woman grit her teeth before nodding.
“Right… I am no longer in the mood to play. Since I can’t empty my fury upon your brother, I shall have to be satisfied with these so-called experts for now.”
The woman’s attention turned back to the Miasma and the experts still fighting it. As she was dealing with Zetrazz her control and focused had broken several times and the Miasma had floated around randomly but now that she was back in full control, she turned every bit of spite and every bit of her rage onto them.
The Miasma once more moved like lightning and covered expert after expert. They fought with everything they could, they scrambled and attacked with their all but there was nothing they could do. Their barriers did not hold out and even the ones with tougher flesh could not survive after a few minutes in the Miasma before they too were reduced to nothing and eaten.
When all was said and done, the Miasma swept over everyone and consumed them within 10 minutes. None remained.
The woman removed her barriers and so too did Zetrazz. Removing the crown from her head and tossed it back to Torzz.
“Play with it all you like. I’ve now become bored with it. When your done, come find me.”
“Where are you going?”
“This continent has already been tainted by your brother. I can sense a few more in this world. I’ll go and take the one I like best. I feel like ruling for a little while.”
After she said that, the woman vanished, leaving the magic crown with Torzz along with the control over the Azirian and the Miasma to him.
