Return of the Fallen Volume 9 Chapter 57

Asuna was not having it. Anger was ever-present in her expression as she went from disheartened to pissed.

“Wait it out! How the fuck can you say that Danny!? Waiting around is not an option and you know it. If things take a turn for the worse, this room becomes a tomb for all of us. There’s no way we can just wait things out it’s completely out of the question. Now stop spouting nonsense and help me think of something otherwise just sit down and shut the hell up!”

There was no getting through to Asuna, she was way too riled up. At the same time, Danny found no point in arguing. He had already tried to think of another solution but he could think of no way out. Yelling or fighting with Asuna who couldn’t see the truth, if he had breath then it would be wasted exchanging any more words. Besides, there was no harm in letting her go on. why crush her hopes. If she really believed there was something to be done, in this dark time, Danny didn’t wish to break her or anyone else and left it alone.

Sitting down, Danny turned away from Asuna and closed his eyes. Focusing his mind, he entered his own soul world where time was slightly slowed. Not as much as Kazuki’s soul world but still it bought him a little longer than the time in the outside world and allowed him to clear his mind and think.

Asuna hated being ignored and her anger rose. She had promised herself not to be controlled by such emotions so easily but it was a difficult task, especially when she had only made that promise recently. Her fist cocked back before she punched Danny as hard as possible.

*CLANK CRACK*

Danny’s body remained perfectly unmoved and his eyes remained shut. Not a scratch on him. Asuna on the other hand, well her hand was broken in several places and she had a few fractures in her forearm. This amount of pain did not cause her to cry out in pain, instead, she only grew more frustrated.

Nunully tried to heal Asuna but she had forgotten that her magic was being suppressed. Nunully was at the Core stage, even healing fatal wounds was as easy as kicking a rock on the road, yet now, she couldn’t even heal a scratch, even if she were to put her all into it. Just trying to will her magic forth brought an unbearable amount of pain, and still, her magic would not move. It was as if her magic had become a viscous sap or thick mud. It was basically unmoving.

Asuna pulled her arm away.

“It’s fine leave it.”

Nunully stared Asuna down and shook her head.

“Stop being stubborn. I may not be able to heal you but I can still help. We’re supposed to rely on one another right?”

Asuna went silent for a moment before she nodded.

“Good, now give me your arm and stop acting like a baby.”

Asuna grumbled before giving her arm over to Nunully freely. Nunully ripped a bit of cloth from the bottom of her garb.

“Kimi, find me a few straight objects, I’m going to set Asuna’s arm.”

“Does Asuna really need all of that? She should heal fairly soon.”

Nunully gave her a look and Kimi rolled her eyes before scavenging a few straight objects from the pile of treasure. Handing them over, Kimi added.

“Is this really necessary?”

Nunully began to set Asuna’s bones before wrapping a short straight object along with her arm.

“Our bodies are far above that of the average man or woman. A broken bone for us can heal within an hour or quicker depending on whether we have magic or not. Without magic, it’s on the far end, with magic it’s within the several minute’s range. There are pros and cons to this. One of the cons being is without magic our bones would heal in place. That means if a bone is broken and is not aligned properly, it would heal incorrectly and could render one crippled. With magic, our bones would reset themselves automatically. The difference magic makes is undeniable in that way. This is why I need to set Asuna’s bones, otherwise, they would heal completely improperly.”

Kimi was stupified.

“Oh…I…I knew that.”

Nunully nodded.

“Of course you did.”

Kimi ignored this obvious dig and focused on Asuna.

“How is it, does it hurt a lot?”

Asuna shook her head.

“I’ve felt much worse. If it’s this much, I can deal with it.”

Nunully tightened the splint around Asuna’s arm and Asuna in response she grit her teeth in pain as a small tear gathered at the corner of her eye.

“What was that for?”

“Didn’t I just tell you to stop being stubborn? So stop it already. If it hurts, then be honest with us. If you’re sad be sad. If your happy smile, if you’re angry, then shout and punch the air. Hiding your feelings, and acting like everything’s fine like everything’s ok when they’re clearly not. You did that before and when you did you pushed all of us away, your friends. You became cold and closed off emotionally and that made you suffer unnecessarily. Do you trust us so little? How can we support each other if you can’t even be honest with us?”

Kimi was loving this and nodded along with everything Nunully was saying and then Nunully turned on her.

“This goes for you as well Kimi. When it comes to stubbornness, you are at the top of the list. You come to a conclusion and then that’s it basically forever. Remember how long it took you to stop blaming Kazuki for all of your problems and for you to finally stop and look at the world around you and realize not everything is his fault. I won’t go further as my words might burn the flesh but if this is really our end, I think we need to be there for one another in our last moments. I don’t wish to die with anger in my heart but instead peace.”

Kimi’s face turned red but she too was feeling the hopelessness of the situation and she couldn’t gather the energy to be mad anymore.

An awkward silence formed between them as they didn’t know what to say after that. Nunnally finished wrapping Asuna’s arm and she grabbed Asuna’s other arm and Kimi’s arm and pulled them over to a quiet corner.

“Nunully what are you doing?”

“All throughout our journeys, there was very little time between just us girls to have girl talk. It’s always been Shin with a silly joke or Kimi going off somewhere just her and Sam. If there’s not much time left for us, I want to have a normal conversation with just us three.”

Asuna looked over at Triska and Shaila and wondered.

“Should we ask them to join us as well?”

Kimi and Nunully exchanged a look and both shook their heads at the same time.

“I use the element of ice but even I’m not as cold as Triska but maybe Shaila is ok.”

Kimi nodded.

“Yep, she only has an attitude when it comes to everyone, well everyone except for her boy toy Shin. If you ask me their way too close for my taste. SHaila should be fine though.”

This time it was Asuna and Nunuly who traded looks. Hearing Kimi say Shin and Triska were way too close, Asuna and Nunully couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

“Bwahahaha.”
“Hehehehaha”

A question mark formed above Kimi’s head.

“Why are you two laughing?”

Asuna smirked.

“Really, you don’t know?”

Kimi shook her head.

“What did I say that was so hilarious?”

Nunully was a little shy about it but she just told Kimi honestly.

“Shin and Triska are too close for your taste but what about you and Sam. Ever since we’ve known you, you two have been all over one another. Whether your jumping on him or literally putting your hand down his pants in front of all of us or the passionate moans late at night. You two leave nothing to the imagination.”

This was the first time she realized that she had been heard doing the deed and she who was normally not shy or embarrassed was now cherry tomato red.

“You all heard that?”

Nunully and Asuna both nodded.

Kimi turned around and tried to leave but Asuna and Nunlly grabbed her by the arms and dragged her to the corner of the room.

“You’re not getting away from us. Didn’t we just agree to be honest with each other, nows’s the time, to be honest? Speak, every detail.”

Kimi denied Asuna’s words.

“When did I ever agree to that?”

Kimi under the gaze of Asuna and Nunully started to spill everything. This might be fine under normal circumstances but there were plenty of people in this room who had enhanced bodies and senses, which included enhanced hearing. So even though Kimi whispered like a tiny mouse, several hundred people overheard this conversation and eyes began to turn toward Sam. Many men looked on at Sam with envy, while more of these people simply couldn’t believe what Kimi was saying and couldn’t help but glance down at Sam’s crouch.

The same thought going through these soldiers and Mages minds.

(There’s no way, no one has one that big.)

However as this thought came across their mind and they curiously took a peek, a shocking outline could be made out. After that, it wasn’t just the Mages that curled up into a ball and cried.

(The gods are unfair!)

Shin felt a stabbing pain in his guts as he knew exactly what the soldiers were thinking and feeling. He couldn’t help but feel the same way back then. He stole a glance at Triska to see if she was looking at Sam’s dick like the others but Triska had no interest in any man besides Shin. She heard all of this and simply found it to be boring.

Shin seeing that she had no interest felt comfort and chuckled in his head.

Shaila on the other hand was always the curious one and took a glance, causing Tozu to grow annoyed. Shaila wrapped her arms around him and whispered sweet notihings to him in comfort. Sasai though didn’t understand why anyone cared about such things and ignored it all.

While nearly everyone seemed to have some interest in this topic, the one who was being talked about, Sam, could care less about the talk but it was getting annoying all the male eyes on his package. Sam sighed and looked over at Kimi. He wanted to come over but she shooed him away indicating the conversation was private but obviously the hundreds of ears hearing it said differently.

Finally, Sam sat down as to skirt the gazes.

(Is this how I die. Surrounded by thousands of men in a crumbling room with their eyes on my dick…)
