Return of the Fallen Volume 9 Chapter 80

10’s of thousands of bolts of lightning infused with the element of fire fell from the skies above. A single bolt could turn one of Kazuki’s limbs into charcoal that would then shatter and be reduced to ash. Every single red bolt came crashing down upon Kazuki but this time he was ready. The moment he was about to be struck, his eyes glowed with purple light and his aura mimicked the element of space. Using Asuna’s technique, Kazuki called out in his head.

(LOCK!)

Several hundred bolts that were directly above his head froze in place and Kazuki made his move. His brother’s sword forms came to mind. Mimicking the wind, his aura struck out.

“Severing tempest.”

His aura formed several energy blades and cut into the gravity holding him. The severing tempest instantly tore through the gravity and destroyed it, freeing Kazuki, allowing him to move once more.

He would have used his fused power of three to destroy the gravity but Fera was unaware of this technique. If he could get close, he might be able to use it and completely overwhelm her.

Once free from her gravity, and with the most dangerous bolts around him frozen in the sky, Kazuki could easily fly around them and avoid them.

Fera didn’t know how her gravity was destroyed but she knew Kazuki had done something strange.

(He thinks these petty tricks with space will keep him safe?)

Fera reapplied her gravity to the bolts of lightning Kazuki had frozen in place. With a simple hand movement, the frozen flamming bolts like the undead were reanimated and moved with a swiftness most could never achieve.

Kazuki remained calm but he could tell this was no simple matter. The ease was no more and things now became complicated. White flames burning hotter than the sun roared beneath his feet as he accelerated and dodged these now chasing lightning bolts.

He flew across the battlefield faster than these lightning bolts but they were tricky or rather Fera was tricky with them. They surrounded Kazuki on all sides and could turn and change direction on the spot. This made them difficult to avoid. Kazuki manipulated his aura and covered himself with over a hundred layers of folded aura. At the same time, he continuously mimicked the power of space and the power of the wind. Whenever a flaming red bolt came far too close, he would lock them in place before racing away from them. That or he would use the severing tempest upon them.

Though he quickly found that the severing tempest could only do so much. Usually, they could destroy energy easily but Kazuki found that the severing tempest was not working as well on the lightning. Fera’s power was just too much and the severing tempest could only reduce part of the energy within them. This made them slightly less dangerous but dangerous all the same.

In the end, his severing tempest was only useful in slowing the lightning at his back. One thing he did not expect was the heat of these lightning bolts. They were even hotter than his own white flames. Lightning and fire combined caused the temperature to be almost indescribable. It was so hot, that Kazuki, not even touching the red lightning, just being close to them, caused his skin to burn at a constant rate.

Kazuki considered himself to have a fairly tough defense but even he was getting scorched. His body was constantly regenerating under this heat. Brun and heal, burn, and heal.

Kazuki could see Fera smiling in the background as she controlled the lightning.

(Right now these bolts can still be dealt with but at the same time, she still hasn’t gone all the way. She believes she is playing with me. Good. If she thinks me to be weak, I should be able to find an opportunity to get close and used my special fused power. She would expect another fused power of flames and darkness but instead, she’ll get the same attack I used against Dreunz.)

Kazuki continued to dodge as he flew. At the same time, he began to inch closer and closer to Fera. He slowed his speed ever so slightly as to be unnoticed by Fera. He allowed the bolts to get closer and closer to him until he was avoiding them all by a hair’s breadth. He appeared weaker and weaker.

The lightning changed direction once more and encircled Kazuki in every direction like a huge round sphere. The sphere of lightning was dozens of miles in diameter and had zero gaps. It was a cage of sorts.

“Recognize this? Just like your little friend trapped my artificial body in a cage of lightning, this time it is you who is trapped like a little fucking rat. Entering the Convergence stage, I thought you had truly evolved into something maybe slightly formidable but is running really all you could do? You anger me and dared to taunt me yet you were actually this weak. A fucking bug like you insulted me. Meet your fate and become ash before me!”

Fera’s eyes began to glow and the cage of lightning quickly started to shrink.

(To think she wouldn’t continue to play and would use Danny’s move against me. This arrogant bitch thinks I would die to this. She really is underestimating me.)

The cage of red lightning was indeed dangerous but it was nothing like Danny’s. It did not stop Kazuki from using his powers and it would not damage his soul if he ran into it.

Kazuki purposely waited for the cage to shrink to a moment before it collapsed on him. As soon as it got close enough and it looked like it had swallowed him, he would use this chance to teleport directly behind Fera and use his fused ability and destroy her body in a single attack. She would have believed Kazuki had died and her guard would be down in that moment.

All Kazuki needed to do was wait for that moment before acting.

He appeared terrified and weak inside the cage. His face paled and he seemed desperate, inside though he was waiting for his moment. The cage closed more and more until finally, his moment had come. His eyes glowed with purple light as he mimicked the element of space and he attempted to teleport but Fera’s eyes glowed as well and her laughter followed.

“I just saw you somehow use the power of space. Did you think I would allow you to teleport away? No, I’ve already locked the space around you, you cannot teleport away, you cannot run, and you will not escape death, not this time.”

Fera smiled demonically as the flaming red lightning started to burn at Kazuki’s body.

Kazuki only had a few fractions of a second before his entire body was charred and turned into ash. It was he who had underestimated Fera in this situation. She had her guard up the entire time and knew Kazuki would try and pull something at the last second. Kazuki had no time to think and could only use his trump card right here and now.

The power of aura, magic, and ki combined and fused inside of him. This power was chaotic but he still had just enough control over it. Extending his hands outward, the lightning began to blacken his hands before the fused power formed a thin layer of energy over his hands like a glove before instantly destroying the lightning.

The power of three exploded outward from the end of his hands. The chaotic energy had reached its apex before shooting outward toward the lightning. Tiny needle-like spots of energy drilled and pierced completely through the lighting and destroyed it, opening a hole in the sphere almost big enough for Kazuki to fit all the way through.

Kazuki took this moment and leaped forward, just before the rest of the cage collapsed on him. He wasn’t quick enough though and his legs were severed and reduced to ash in an instant.

Once outside of the cage, he could use space magic once more and he quickly took his distance from Fera. His legs regenerated almost instantly and he observed Fera. At the same time, Fera was doing the same thing. She didn’t attack immediately and instead observed Kazuki in the distance.

Torzz was shocked watching this while Zetrazz was a little annoyed.

(Damn, Kazuki had to use that so soon. Now that Fera is aware of this ability that can completely destroy her fused power, there’s no way she’ll ever allow Kazuki to get close enough to her to use it. This may become a fight of simply long-ranged attacks which is boring. Kazuki you have to come up with something else, otherwise, this fight will only end in your death and it will be over too fast. Please please please let this fight last longer. Let me see something even more amazing.)

Fera stared at Kazuki and looked at her cage which had been damaged.

(What ability was that. I could sense the power of aura and magic within it but there was something else entirely different in there. A third energy I do not know of. He fused all three and it entered a level even my power cannot fend off. What in the 7 realms of hell have you done Kazuki?)
