Return of the Fallen Volume 9 Chapter 81
Fera observed Kazuki from a distance. She had just witnessed something she had never seen before. Power from a weaker being that could break through her own and it was done by the brother she despised with her entire being. This feeling of rage she felt was countered by caution.
(That ability was far too strange. It pierced my red bolts as if they were made of paper. If that were to touch me…So this little bastard really did have a trick up his sleeve. To think it would be a power fused of three different energies as well as a type of energy I am completely unfamiliar with. Just who taught you such a powerful technique. COuld it have been glacious?)
The thought of Glacious passing on this ability crossed her mind for a brief instant but she doubted this.
(If that lizard really did have this ability, there’s no way he would have struggled when facing the Beasts Kings. He would have been able to destroy them in an instant. No, I don’t know where Kazuki gained this ability but it was not from the pathetic lizard.)
Fera quickly thought about Kazuki’s ability and her caution although it remained, it lessened greatly.
(That ability, he had it this whole time but he didn’t use it earlier, why? It completely tore through my fused lightning so any barrier I create and even my body would have been heavily damaged from it or worse. So why has he still not shot it at me? Why wait, unless…He can’t use it long distances.)
This made sense.
(The way he used it basically confirms this. I felt the strange power on his hands and his hands alone. If he could have shot it, he would have but instead, his hands merely touched my lightning. Does this not mean his range is fairly limited?)
Fera’s caution turned into a fiendish smile as she realized this power was not omnipotent. Its weaknesses were obvious when one simply examined it and watched how it was used.
(He wanted my guard down, this much is obvious. The moment he tried to teleport, I thought it was so he could escape but in actuality, he most likely wanted to teleport as close to me as possible and then touch me with his hand of death. Heh, that power shall never touch a hair on my head.)
There was no need to be afraid of a power that would never touch you and so Fera once again went on the offensive. First, she sealed the area around her and her brother with space magic. Purple waves of energy spread outward and surrounded the area for dozens of miles.
She wasn’t an expert in terms of this element but her power far surpassed Kazuki’s. If he wanted to teleport within here it would no longer be possible nor would it be possible to teleport out. She tried to pull Kazuki down with gravity but Kazuki cut through it with aura. At the same time, Fera could no longer hold Kazuki in place with space. She had a choice to make, hold him in place with space or prevent him from teleporting away and fleeing. She opted to not allow him to run away.
Now that she knew he could escape from her grip by using this new power of his, it would be pointless to try and hold him in place. It was better to not let him escape.
Her red lightning once more lit up the sky and pointing her finger at Kazuki, the lightning gave chase. WHite flames roared beneath Kazuki and he took off becoming a streak of bright light. The lightning moved at the speed of lightning and Kazuki moved slightly faster. Now that his plan to get close was thrown upside down, he no longer feigned weakness and actually started to speed up.
While flying through the air, Kazuki’s eyes glowed with emerald green light. In the sky all around him, thousands of spears and javelins made from Orichalcum were created from thin air. He grabbed these with his aura and combined them with the force of gravity and wind before he fired them all toward Fera.
Most of these weapons immediately collided with the red bolts and were destroyed on contact but some of them broke through. The lighting had just barely missed these few and the sharp pieces of metal came raining down atop Fera. Fera only smiled and didn’t even attempt to block them. Some of these spears and javelins directly hit her body but the moment they did, they either shattered or were bent and bounced away, leaving not even a hint of a scratch.
“Just like the lizard, you are a pathetic fool. You have a technique of untold destruction yet in your hands it is utterly useless just as you are. You can’t teleport away and all you can do is run from my lightning. Keep running, let’s see how long you can dodge.”
Kazuki kept flying around but he was not without ideas. opening his palm dozens of bolts of lightning came flying out. Just like his spears, most of this lightning was destroyed the second it came in contact with Fera’s but a few had made it past and came crashing at Fera. Fera chuckled before grabbing at these bolts of lightning, she completely took them over before throwing them right back at Kazuki.
These bolts expanded and became thicker and moved faster than when Kazuki launched them. Kazuki made thousands more spears and launched them behind him. They destroyed the lightning he had made and again a few got past Fera’s lightning before they once again bounced off of her powerlessly.
Kazuki could not harm Fera but at the same time something obvious became clear, Kazuki’s speed was significant. Fera’s lightning could not touch him and if it did, in fact, get too close for comfort, Kazuki would fire his own fused black flame before protecting himself with more than a hundred layers of folded aura. His black flame would be destroyed by Fera’s red bolts but his black flame would reduce the damage Fera’s power would do. By the time it struck his aura, he still had a few layers left and once again escaped.
This happened rarely because Kazuki was simply far too fast.
Fera was starting to become annoyed watching this. No matter how she controlled her lightning, she just couldn’t seem to hit Kazuki with it. She could add more power to her lightning but she could not make it any faster. She had already used gravity to artificially increase its speed but even that wasn’t enough to hit Kazuki.
She couldn’t stop his movements, she couldn’t slow him and she couldn’t increase her red bolts any further.
(Damn this insect. I simply need to land one hit on his hand and he’ll die but he’s like a fucking eel. I have to use my own speed if I’m to kill him but if I get too close, that power will take me out. My bodies are taking too long as well. All of this dumb shit keeps getting in my way. That ability of his…it requires three different energies. Two of them are magic and aura. I don’t understand what the third one is but if it requires aura, I can deal with that. With his aura fucked, that power will be crippled. With that power no longer a factor, I can easily close in on him and take his life once and for all.)
Fera’s ring glowed with radiant light and an all-black sword fell into her hand. The moment she took this sword out from her ring both her black compass and Kazuki’s golden compass vibrated. Kazuki was surprised as he had never felt the compass vibrate like that. Ye sit had pulsed before and leaked energy and drawn energy and a soul in but the way it vibrated gave Kazuki a bad feeling. It was as if his compass or whoever was observing him was warning him.
(My compass started acting strange the moment she pulled out that black sword.)
Kazuki could feel a strange power coming from the sword. It seemed slightly familiar.
(That sword, it’s giving off a weird yet familiar feeling.)
The moment he thought this, Fera made her move. Her body blured as she vanished from her spot. Kazuki could barely see her and was shocked.
“She’s moving as fast as me, no, even faster!”
Kazuki filled his eyes with ki and he could once more see her movements clearly. She came from his left side and she swung the sword upward with a long slash.
Aura strengthening and ki enhanced Kazuki’s speed and he was just barely able to escape the path of her sword. He quickly retreated several miles away and immediately he felt something wrong inside.
(My soul!)
Before he could finish this thought, Fera gave chase and was upon him once more in a split second.
“You cannot run from me forever you little shit!”
