Return of the Fallen Volume 9 Chapter 82
Speed faster than lightning, Kazuki streaked across the sky with movement that should have been unparalleled in this lower realm yet Fera was not far behind.
Kazuki could now move more than a thousand miles in a single step but because Fera sealed the area around them with space magic, he could only travel a few dozens of miles before an invisible wall blocked his path. It wasn’t impervious to any and all attack but it would take more than a second to get through it. A single second was a tiny amount of time but to powerful beings at the 7th stage, it minus well be a lifetime. The single second Kazuki would spend to tear a hole in the wall and escape, would be all the time needed for Fera to cut him apart.
The moment he came to the wall, the white flames beneath his feet changed angles and allowed Kazuki to switch directions on the spot and vanish just before Fera’s slash divided his legs from his torso. Even though she missed in severing flesh she still smiled in delight. The energy from her black sword again gave off an odd feeling and Kazuki now knew why.
Not a mark on his body but deep inside his soul world, long scars appeared along his soul tree.
A cold feeling spread inside his soul world as part of his soul had been cut. Kazuki was shocked.
(She…She destroyed part of my soul!)
That’s what her black sword had done. Even if it did not cause external wounds, the internal…the damage to the soul was devastating.
With a part of his soul destroyed, Kazuki instantly felt his aura weaken by a noticeable degree and he quickly understood why she did this.
(She knows not to get close to me otherwise I could fuse my three energies and kill her yet she got close purposefully. That sword destroys one’s soul and with it it directly affects one’s aura. Without my aura, she plans to take away my greatest weapon from me.)
Kazuki’s ki circulated as fast as possible and so too did his aura and the power of wind. His body accelerated faster and faster as he dodged not only Fera but her red bolts as well.
Fera was slightly faster but Kazuki took a page from her own book and he began to move as her red lightning did. He would half step and pivot in mid-air. He would suddenly add a million pounds to his body using gravity before reducing the weight to lighter than a feather. With this strange addition and subtraction along with his agile movement, he was able to move with an insane illusiveness that Fera could not keep up with.
She was having a difficult time keeping track of him as he flitted across the sky a flash of light. This only caused her to become more annoyed.
“Running and running like a fucking rat. STAY STILL!!”
Fera gripped her fists and a large tornado dozens of miles wide formed nearly instantaneously. Because of its large size, it took up almost the entire area the two fought in. Fera couldn’t use the element of space because she already was using it to keep Kazuki from fleeing so instead she opted to use the suction of the wind along with her red lightning to bring Kazuki closer.
While chasing him, her red bolts came charging at him from every direction, trying to corner him. At the same time, the suction force of the tornado pulled at him with a terrifying force. He could still resist it and not fall be pulled fully but it still slowed him enough for Fera to appear at his back.
Swinging her black blade atop him, she tried to split his head in half in a single strike. A large shield made from god metal formed behind Kazuki to block the path of her sword but just like before, her strength was simply overwhelming. The shield shattered almost instantly and her sword continued downward. Kazuki could not continue forward because of the lightning nor could he go backward because of Fera.
Moving through the lightning, his body would be struck continuously. Surviving that seemed impossible. Kazuki made a quick decision and turned around. Ki, aura strengthening, aura breath, flowed with him. God metal formed over his hands and his head and he reached up. Inhaling deeply he roared out.
“DEVOUR!!”
Fera’s black sword swung down and went through his metallic gauntlets and then through his hands that were tougher than metal. Even though he was using aura breath and aura strengthening he could feel the sword cutting his soul tree and destroying more of his soul. His aura strengthening and aura breath instantly lost nearly all effect and her blade continued down.
At the same time, this was happening, the small gate fused with his soul tree had opened and was rapidly devouring the power from his surroundings. The red lightning at his back shrank substantially and the magic in the air was rapidly flowing into his soul world. His regeneration shot up and the hands she had cut through were already repaired.
Just as her blade was about to cut through his head, he pulled his healed hands backward and once more placed them in the path of this mysterious black blade. He would have moved out of the way but his body was not faster than his hands. Moving in any direction without guarding himself and he would be cut into a thousand pieces. He would be absolutely defenseless in that state and there’s no way Fera would let him regenerate after that.
His hands once more were in the path of the blade and once more they were cut apart. The blade this time though was slowed and its power was reduced. It came down atop the helmet on Kazuki’s head and just as all the other items he had made of god metal, Fera’s strength destroyed it. Finally, her blade reached his flesh and cut into his skull, and then…Stopped.
After going through gid metal multiple times as well as through Kazuki’s hands that were almost on par with said god metal then his hands again, all the way until it reached his hardened skull, Fera had used her entire strength and could swing it down no further.
A single line of blood poured down the middle of Kazuki’s forehead and ran down his face. The moment her blade was stopped and this tiny bit of blood poured out, the two both stared at one another in shock.
(Even with a swing using my full strength…I failed to kill this bug.)
Kazuki as well was shocked. He saw his life flash before him for an instant and even he thought this was going to be his end. The moment it wasn’t though, Kazuki instantly moved. His foot raised up like a sledgehammer and kicked Fera directly in the chest, causing her to fly backward.
Opening his mouth, Kazuki roared.
“RAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”
Lightning combined with sword forms shot forward.
Fera swiftly regained her balance and was unafraid of this lightning. Just like his earlier attacks, she would simply knock them aside before charging back in at him. Now that she knew how he would defend, it would be easy for her to pierce through his defense.
(His body may be tough but I’ve already destroyed part of his soul. It will only take a few more swings and his soul will shatter into nothingness. He will either die from me destroying his head or he will die without a soul. Either way, the little shit will die once and for all.)
Fera prepared to knock Kazuki’s lightning out of the way but just before the lightning struck her, it moved seemingly erratically and circled around her, forming a cage. The moment she saw this cage, her eyes went wide.
“You think this cage will work on me as it did before. WRONG MOVE LITTLE SHIT!”
Fera quickly slashed at the lightning and destroyed a small section of the cage but Kazuki repaired it just as quickly.
She then turned her red bolts and shot them toward the cage but when they came near the lightning cage destroyed them. Fera’s eyes widened.
“This is!”
Kazuki slowly flew toward the cage, a smile on his face.
“Your lightning will not work, not against this cage. Not as long as I’m here.”
Kazuki had devoured a large portion of the energy that made up the red lightning. The moment they came near the lightning cage, the sword forms within easily severed their energy and destroyed them. Kazuki quickly controlled the lightning cage and it began to shrink rapidly.
(Once my cage touches her, it will start to sever her magic. That won’t kill her but the longer it goes on, the more magic energy she will lose. Once her magic has run dry, I’ll be able to get close. She’ll destroy more of my soul with that blade but I’ll only need a single attack on her. One move…I’ll kill this bitch in a single move.)
