Return of the Fallen Volume 9 Chapter 83
As the cage began to shrink and close in around Fera, Fera laughed.
*Hah*
“This cage may tear at my magic but it does nothing to my body. If I can’t cut through this cage before it repairs itself, I’ll simply rip it apart with my bare hands!”
Fera dropped her black sword and it started hovering next to her. The very next moment she reached forward with both hands and gripped at the lightning. Electricity arced atop the surface of her skin. Kazuki’s lightning was something that could destroy mountains and vaporize lakes. To Fera though, it was little more than a prickling feeling.
The Storm Tempest contained the sword forms and with it, Fera could feel the magic inside of her being reduced at an uncomfortable rate.
(I need to rip this apart now before my magic runs dry.)
Exerting some force, with both her strength and aura, she gripped the flowing lightning and tore it apart with ease.
Just as she was about to leap out from the cage, Kazuki came rushing forward. His hand extended, three different energies gathered in his palm in a split second. Fera leaped backward just in time to avoid his death touch.
(So is that his plan. I can rip through this cage easily but he will be guarding every exit, waiting for me to approach.)
Fera would have teleported out of the cage but she was currently using all of her space magic to block the entire area. Sealing it off so Kazuki could not teleport away. If she released her space magic for even a moment, she could escape the Storm Tempest cage in an instant but at the same time, so too could Kazuki getaway and she would never allow him to escape again.
Her eyes glowed bright and the red lightning all-around came shooting over in an attempt to strike Kazuki dead. Kazuki though was already expecting this. Inhaling deeply, the devouring gate within his soul world opened once more and sucked in a shit ton of energy from these red bolts.
The energy within caused his physical strength to rise while at the same time weakening the red lightning. By the time it struck him, it could still put holes in him and cause severe injury but it was no longer turning limbs into ash. Instead, he would endure heavy burns and would bleed profusely but his body also regenerated near instantaneously. The wounds he had were healed and at the same time, he was still growing stronger, healing faster and taking less damage with each bolt of lightning.
It only took a hundred or so of these strikes for Fera to notice something was wrong. She could feel her brother’s strength growing with each attack and she immediately cut it off.
She stared daggers at Kazuki before once more rushing toward the edge of the cage. Once again she tore part of the cage and tried to escape and Kazuki swiftly appeared in front of her. His touch of death closing in he went directly for her face but her black sword hovering next to her swooped in and slashed at Kazuki’s hand, cutting it off.
Her sword then turned and pierced toward Kazuki’s head. With a tilt, he just moved his head out of the way in time but the blade turned sideways and came down with a chop. Before Kazuki could move out of the way, the sword had already cut him diagonally from the shoulder down to his waist.
Fera thought this was her chance and once again tried to escape but the hand she had cut off a microsecond before, promptly went from falling to flying up toward her face. The energy had yet to dissipate from the severed hand and still contained the touch of death within it.
Fera controlled the gravity around her and made the hand weigh 10’s of millions of pounds in an instant, causing it to crash toward the ground and just barely avoid her.
With the hand dealt with, she tried to leave again but Kazuki was already healed once more and blocked the only exit. Her blade slashed at him and Kazuki sidestepped it before promptly grabbing the hilt. The blade under Fera’s will tried to pull away from his grip but Kazuki held tight and allowed it to not move even a single inch.
He could feel it trying to squirm about but his grip was clasped like an almighty vice. It was like the sword was a tiny speck of dust wedged between two mountains. There was no way it could break free from Fera’s aura and will alone. Ki gathered in Kazuki’s eyes and he sent it into the sword and quickly inspected the odd black sword. He was shocked to find almost a million complex inscriptions layered and linked within the blade.
He only saw it for a split second before the sword vibrated in his hand and he could feel the sword destroying even more of his soul. Kazuki’s eyes went wide in shock before he tossed the sword away with nearly all of his strength.
Kazuki was stunned. inspecting his soul tree, it was covered in long white scars. He could feel that at least half of his soul had been destroyed and his aura was weakened greatly.
(How could it still damage my soul without it being swung. No that’s a stupid thought. The blade is a magic weapon, It’s not strange for it to do things that are out of the norm. Instead, I should not have assumed it would become docile in my hand. Like a fool, I held on long enough for it to fuck me this bad.)
The sword went flying for hundreds of miles before it turned around in mid-air and came racing back as if it had a mind of its own.
The sword moved like lightning as it aimed directly at Kazuki’s head and Kazuki was forced to dodge. Because of this, he could not block Fera who quickly shot out of the cage. He expected her to immediately attack him but instead, she stood back and allowed her sword to continuously chase Kazuki. Once more he was on the run.
Kazuki wondered why she just watched and felt something was off but he had no time to think about it right now. He had miscalculated when it came to the black sword. Even without it in the hands of its owner, it could still damage Kazuki’s soul and even take his life if he were not careful.
As Kazuki flew across the sky, the sword followed. Up, down, left, right. No matter where he went, it chased.
(If I can just deal with this blade, I can get close to Fera. I just need to get rid of it somehow.)
Kazuki’s eyes glowed with blue light and a wall of water rose up behind him. Flowing freely it wrapped around the sword and transformed into a ball of water and then it froze over and became a large ball of ice.
*Crack Boom*
The sword broke through the ice with ease.
(Of fucking course it didn’t work.)
Kazuki figured this would be the result but he still had to try.
(Ice the size of a hill didn’t even slow it. Can’t use aura on it because it will simply destroy it. It can cut through god metal and is nearly as fast as me. How the fuck can I stop this thing?)
Kazuki reached back with his ring and tried to store the sword but the sword did not respond and instead, it cut through his hand and almost broke his storage ring. Kazuki quickly grabbed his ring and continued flying away.
Even though he knew it wouldn’t work, he was getting desperate.
Fera continued to watch Kazuki and she no longer sent her lightning after him nor any magic. She knew he would simply absorb it and become stronger. Instead, she just watched as if she were waiting for something.
Kazuki quickly stretched out his aura all the way across the desert and plains until it reached Zephris. He couldn’t communicate with Zephris but his outstretched aura should let Zephris know that things were turning for the worse and that he needed help. Zephris though did not send any aura back which meant no response.
(Damn it! Think…Think!)
Kazuki fired a ball of fused fire and darkness behind him. The sword flew forward and pierced the ball of flame as if it was nothing. Kazuki was once more disappointed but that disappointment didn’t last. A fraction of a second after the black sword cut through the fireball, the destroyed fireball exploded.
The explosion was quite large because it came from fused magic and when it exploded, Kazuki noticed a strange trembling in the blade. It actually slowed by a small fraction as a result of the blast.
Kazuki’s eyes lit up.
(It’s not the heat nor the magic itself but the explosion that did something to the blade. Could it be the vibrations!?)
