Return of the Fallen Volume 9 Chapter 94

The moment space began to tear, the collapsing void froze on the spot. Not just this newly forming black hole but the other two as well.

Kazuki felt a wave of relief wash over him.

(That slow bastard finally decides to show up.)

Zetrazz and Torzz both stand in shock as the world around them seemed to have frozen over. In actuality, they can feel a powerful force, a force even stronger than Kazuki. The power of this being was so overwhelming that it made this pair of brothers feel small and insignificant.

A strange yet familiar power spread outward in every direction, surrounding them all. All at once, the three black holes collapsed in on themselves due to this power and as if they were never there in the first place, they vanished from existence.

Before Zetrazz or Torzz could understand how who or what, he was already there.

Rather, a huge cloud of Miasma was there, floating silently as if it had always been there.

“Zephris, what took so long!?”

Zetrazz and Torzz heard that old familiar name and both became shocked. They were both aware of what had happened to Zephris so long ago. He had been transformed into a monster, he had been changed into the Miasma itself. His mind and soul had been ripped apart and the Miasma was a mindless thing controlled by a magic crown.

Zephris was no more and only the Miasma was left. That’s what the two knew, that’s the way it had been for thousands of years since. To hear that dead man’s name being called from Kazuki’s mouth, the two couldn’t make sense of it.

Just as the two were lost, the Miasma responded to Kazuki’s voice. a powerful boom echoed out of the Miasma as Zephris spoke out into the world after all of this time.

“Kazuki, I don’t think you recognize just what it takes to destroy millions of souls within yourself. It was like cutting away pieces of my flesh again and again and again. So yeah, it took some time.”

Zetrazz couldn’t help but interrupt the two.

“Kazuki…Did you…Did you just call the Miasma by the name of Zephris?”

Kazuki raised a brow.

“Did you forget who and what the Miasma used to be? What other name would I call Zephris besides Zephris?”

Zetrazz turned toward the thick cloud of purplish black. He had heard the Miasma speak just a second ago but he was finding all of this hard to believe. Long ago, Zetrazz had not been an acquaintance of Zephris’s. He had only met the man once long ago. The man was spoken about as a living legend back then and Zetrazz had wished to challenge him and fight him with everything he had. To his arrant disappointment, Zephris had died and was turned into a mindless monster.

So for him to believe alive here and now, it just made no sense. Zetrazz and many other experts had been there the day he died. They could no longer sense his mind, body, or soul. He was truly and utterly gone…or so they thought.

(If Zephris truly is alive and this is him…)

Zetrazz started to grow excited and yet at the same time he felt fear run through his body. Zephris had been at a level comparable to Detra back then and the strength he showed just now when he destroyed the black holes told Zetrazz that if this being in front of him was actually Zephris then he had lost none of his potency.

Zetrazz had admired Zephris in the past but he still was unsure that this was really him.

“Are you…really him? Are you really Zephris?”

Zephris’s voice boomed once more.

“There is no other. You need not take my word for it though, just look at the way your older brother is shaking in his boots. My body may have become disfigured and turned into this but my voice, Torzz you clearly recognize it.”

Torzz slowly took a step back and his voice trembled.

“You, can not be him. After the magic crown was damaged you were transformed into the Miasma and you existed no more. This is an illusion, a fake. Zephris died that day!”

The Miasma instantly condensed and a physical body materialized from the Miasma. A young man took shape instantly. Opening Kazuki’s storage ring, Zephris borrowed a few clothes from Kazuki and wore them.

The moment this human figure appeared before them, they all, Kazuki included went wide-eyed and were stunned.

Kazuki was at first shocked not only by Zephris’s appearance but also because Zephris had somehow activated his storage ring, something that should not be possible. Zephris’s voice though quickly entered Kazuki’s mind.

(Hehe, Kazuki are you surprised by my handsome face. You’ve seen it before with my memories. Is it that or are you shocked that I could open your little ring? Remember, you took a piece of my soul, so the Miasma wouldn’t keep attacking you. Because of this, that ring recognizes the part of me in you as you.)

Zephris turned his attention to the flabbergasted expressions the two Titans wore and he couldn’t help but relish in it. Zephris squeezed his hand and made a fist. It was a strange yet intoxicating feeling being able to feel his own flesh once more. His body was overflowing with strength and power.

“Torzz, maybe after eons you have forgotten my voice but I know you have not forgotten this handsome face. What a strange twist of fate I have endured. For you to be my prisoner for so long only for me to become your prisoner later on. Except in your case, I did not force you to kill and consume against your will. I did not allow you to suffer for so long. Your mind remained intact under my care and your soul remained unharmed, yet for me, every second was agony. After all of that time, to think that you trying to kill Kazuki using the Miasma would allow him and me to come together. He escaped death and I have regained my freedom.”

Torzz continued t back away slowly. His entire body trembled. He understood early on from watching Kazuki and Fera fight that he could not defeat Kazuki were he to face him but at least in that case if he wished to escape it was entirely possible. Seeing Zephris in front of him now, feeling the undulations of power reverberating in the air, Torzz knew there would be no escape.

Words shook as they spilled from Torzz’s mouth.

“I…I did not know you were still alive. Had I known, why would I have purposely made you suffer. I wouldn’t dare.”

Zehpris wagged his finger back and forth.

“Lies lies and more lies. You see I was aware inside the Miasma for a long time. I watched you, and I watched that accursed woman Sephra. I saw how you two plotted and planned many things. When she was forced to leave this world, I then watched you and Fera plot and commit atrocities. I don’t care that this is the type of person you are. When beings like us reach a certain level, lower lives become annoyances more than anything. At our level, it’s less of a headache if you just ignore them but you rather wipe them from the face of this world. All you know how to do is make others suffer. Saying you wouldn’t dare purposefully make me suffer if you knew I was still around. Come on now, we both know you would make my agony a thousand times worse if you had the chance.”

While Torzz was backing down in fear, Kazuki felt his anger rise. The name he had avoided for the life of him, the woman who was responsible for nearly all of his suffering. Kazuki’s hissed through his teeth as he spoke the name he wished he could forget.

“SEPHRA!”

The moment he spoke of his adoptive mother, Fera’s eyes snapped open and she pushed away from a now surprised Torzz. At the exact same time
the ground beneath everyone exploded upward in a torrent of debris.

*BOOOOOOOM!*

Three figures shot up through the ground like flashes of lightning as they dragged three monstrously large bodies behind them.

Three Fera’s appeared from the ground and landed next to the real Fera. They were her fake bodies she had used so many times before. In their grips, they held three giant Azirian’s.

Zetrazz understood what Fera was about to do and he shouted with warning.

“KAZUKI SHE’S GOING TO USE HER COMPASS AND ABSORB THE SOULS. WE MUST STOP HER NOW BEFORE SHE GROWS ANY STRONGER!”

Zetrazz rushed forward but Torzz immediately got in his way. Up in the sky, Kazuki flashed downward the touch of death gathering in his hand at blinding speed. Fera and Zephris both extended a hand and the power of space spilled out from them like an endless ocean as they tried to stop one another’s movement.
