Return of the Fallen Volume 9 Chapter 95

The black compass hanging around Fera’s neck began to glow and pulse with energy. Zetrazz tried to rush forward and put a stop to this but Torzz blocked his path. Kazuki had just learned that she was going to use her compass to absorb the souls from the giant Azirian’s and suddenly many things clicked in his mind. He recalled when Danny had died. His compass had done something similar and had it not been for Kai protecting Danny’s soul, Kazuki would have unintentionally absorbed his soul, ending his existence.

This also made him realize how dangerous what Fera was doing was. He and Zephris had felt a surge in power before they arrived here and Kazuki understood that it was Fera somehow growing stronger.

(So the compass is the cause of her new strength. Had I fought her earlier, before she absorbed the first giant Azirian, I would have been able to kill her. If she absorbs another one…the eights of her power…)

Kazuki raced down from the sky, descending at blinding speed. With his aura unlocked and the soul seal broken, Kazuki gathered aura, ki, and the spare magic he had into his left palm.

(Damn, I barely have any magic energy left, this will have to do!)

The black holes had just been destroyed by Zephris and with it, the magical energy was no longer being sucked away. Kazuki had just managed to gather a few small strands of it as he blurred forward leaving a streak of light behind him.

The moment he moved, Fera and Zephris both extended their hands and what felt like an unending wave of power gushed forth as the element of space erupted all around them.

A great pressure spread out around this area in all directions. Kazuki felt his body being crushed from every angle like someone had dropped a mountain on his back. His speed fell almost to zero as he felt everything inside of him being squeezed and pulverized.

This was different then Kazuki using his own gravity on his body. He had to increase the weight of his body by several million pounds but due to his aura lacking, his body was being crushed under his own power.

The weight of this pressure from these two powerhouses though was something that approached hundreds of millions of pounds. Kazuki instantly covered his body with over a hundred layers of aura. At the same time, he inhaled deeply before releasing aura breath from his mouth and nose. The element of space weakened by several degrees because of this but he wasn’t done yet.

Kazuki also used his aura to mimic the power of space and he began to speed up once more. He went from a dead stop to a laughable turtle-like speed but by When Fera and Zephris used their power, Kazuki had already landed directly in front of Fera.

His hand slowly rose up to meet her face. This type of speed was again laughably slow but at the same time, Fera could not move her body a single inch. Her power and control over space were near if not equal to Zephris’s control. She moved to stop his movements and he too did the same to her.

The two were basically deadlocked because of this and neither could move.

At this very moment, Zetrazz, Torzz, Zephris, and Fera were all completely frozen in place. The two’s power over space had locked the four of them. If Kazuki did not have Aura breath, aura strengthening, the ability to mimic space as well as his ability to create multiple layers of aura protection, He too would have been unmoving. He though would be in a much worse situation than the rest.

Fera had a large amount of power and mastery over space so although she was unable to move, she would not be crushed by Zephris’s power and Zephris was the same, along with his unique body. Zetrazz and Torzz also had a way out of death. Since both were made almost entirely of pure magical energy, even if their bodies were crushed, it would not kill them. They could simply put themselves back together with enough energy.

Kazuki was different though. He was incredibly tough but he was still made of flesh and blood and his mastery over space was nothing compared to the others and he at the end of the day was only mimicking the element of space. One slip up on his end and he would be flattened and die.

He understood this and controlled his power like a master. Keeping his defenses perfectly in place, his slow hand continued to climb upward.

At the same time, Fera, along with her three fake bodies standing beside her all glared at Kazuki. They wanted to collectively rip out his throat and crush him into dust but none could move.

Fera quickly made a decision and one of the fakes next to her burst open and faded away. The very moment she did this, her body that was completely paralyzed suddenly, her right hand began to move. It took power, focus, and a portion of her soul to maintain a fake body. With her personally destroying one of them, the power she used returned to her. Her mind became that much more focused and a portion of her soul returned as well.

The power of space began to bend to her will as her hand moved slightly slower than Kazuki to block him.

This though wasn’t enough as Kazuki’s palm was only a foot from her face.

Once again, a fake body burst and vanished. Her hand caught up to Kazuki’s speed and was now on a strange trajectory. At first, it looked like she was moving to block him but now her hand was rising up at an odd angle.

The compass around her neck pulsed harder and the power around it was gathering faster and faster.

Kazuki knew he had almost no time left. He barely had any ki inside but he still managed to eke out a paltry amount. It circulated through his body and into his arm and hand, increasing his speed a hair more.

(I don’t know what your hand is doing but it no longer will be able to meet mine and block. This is where I will bury you!)

Kazuki’s palm was now only a few inches in front of Fera’s face. A half of a second, no, a fraction of that is all he would need to connect to her face and send the three fused energies drilling into her and killing her on the spot. That was all he needed. It was right there, right in front of him but at the very last moment, Fera destroyed the last fake body, and instead of increasing her speed by a fraction more, the ring on her finger flashed with a purple glow and something completely unexpected appeared in her hand.

(The black sword!)

Kazuki was shocked.

He had destroyed the black blade earlier but there was a brand new one in her hand. The point where it appeared in her hand had the blade come across her upper torso and the point was now directly in the path of Kazuki’s palm.

A million thoughts flashed through Kazuki’s head.

(She had another one! I can’t have my soul sealed a second time or it will all be over! Now that I know the secret of the blade and how to destroy the seal it would only take a mere few seconds to break it but I have used up nearly all of my magic and ki on this attack. If my soul is sealed, then for the next several seconds I will be without not only my aura but my magic and ki as well. Under her might, she would take my head in an instant let alone several seconds. That blade, I have to avoid it at all cost!)

These thoughts ran through Kazuki’s head in an instant but he was already only a few inches away from the blade and could not change the angle of his attack in time. Kazuki thought it was already too late as the black blade could cut away pieces of one’s soul and even seal it from a short distance. It didn’t necessarily have to slice apart the flesh.

He didn’t feel such effects though and thought maybe since Fera had just regained her conciseness she was slightly slow. Kazuki quickly controlled the fused energies in his hand and made it self-destruct right there and then. The power of aura, ki, and magic exploded inside his hand and blew his hand as well as his arm completely apart.

At the same time, at this close distance, the power drilled into the sword and a small amount hit Fera as well. Fera’s eyes widened in shock as she felt the destructive force drill thousands of small holes into her upper shoulder and most of her torso. The entire right part of her body exploded in slow motion due to the effects of space being frozen and chunks of bones meat and flesh flew into the air at microscopic speeds before being crushed under the heavy pressure of Zephris’s power.

(With that much damage, even she will not be able to recover in time for me to take her head.)

Kazuki thought this and was ready to reengage when he saw the black sword in Fera’s hand slowly explode. Only now did he realize that he did not feel the familiar yet odd power that came from the first mysterious black blade. It was then that Kazuki saw Fera’s expression. Instead of dread, she was smiling like a demon. At the same time, the black compass around her neck activated.
