Return of the Fallen Volume 9 Chapter 96
Fera’ side and a good portion of her upper chest exploded, sending chunks of flesh and bone scattering away only for those pieces to be crushed by the undeniable power of space.
The sword in her hand shattered as well but there was no odd power ominating from it. Kazuki found this odd but what he felt was even stranger was the joyous expression Fera had.
The very next moment, the black compass around her neck activated. God aura spilled out of the compass and moved like a snake in the grass. In an instant, this powerful force split into three and drilled directly into the giant Azirian’s nearby.

Kazuki could see that he had been fooled. The blade he thought was the same as the soul-sealing sword was actually just a regular black sword.
(The sword was tough but it was not the same as the first one. I fell for her trick. I thought it would seal my soul again and I would be left powerless but it was all a ploy so she could by another second.)
Kazuki had used so much power and was only now recovering his energy, but Fera was about to gain a power that would give her sway overall. Even if he was late, he could not just wait for her to finish absorbing the souls in the Azirian’s.
The devouring void within him activated once more and he inhaled deeply. A small amount of wind raced toward his open mouth. He could not create a large vortex with this amount but it was enough to pull at the Giant Azirian’s as well as Fera.
(If I can’t kill you with my fists, then I’ll simply DEVOUR YOU!)
Fera could feel the pull on her body but she was unafraid. She knew she could not resist using her magical energy but she didn’t need it. Even in this state where part of her body was missing, she could still resist this small force with her broken body alone. This thought though instantly changed when she saw the Azirian’s being pulled forward, away from her.
(No, the souls, he’ll steal them all. Wait, if he absorbs them, won’t he be weakened even further. His ability is like Eotra’s is it not. Etora nearly died when he took in the Azirian’s poisonous flesh and blood. If he absorbs the Azirian’s he’ll surely die but at the same time, I will lose this chance to ascend. Father…NOOOOOOOO!)
With a broken body and her movements limited due to Zephris’s using the element of space to lock her in place, her options were limited but options she still had. She grabbed one of the giant Azirian’s and without hesitation, she threw it forward with all of her strength. With this Azirian weighing in excess of millions of pounds and being thrown like lightning, even if Kazuki could absorb some or even most of it, her thought was that the remaining mass would crash into Kazuki and send him flying backward.
(Sacrificing one to have these two, my power will soar ever higher and I can deal with everyone here. There are still a few giant Azirian’s stuck below the world. Losing one alone is not a total disaster. There should be enough powerful souls in the remaining giants to reach the 8th stage and become a Demigod.)
Kazuki saw the large mass filling up his vision but he was not worried about it slamming into him. With his body, this would do no damage to him but it would delay him slightly. There was no fear from this incoming crash, instead, he was worried about what the effects would be after absorbing this Azirian. He too was aware of what happened to Etora when he absorbed an Azirian and he was the one that helped save Etora afterward.
(Etora was in a severely weakened state after he ate that Azirian, surely it will be the same but for me, I still have my ki. With it, I should be able to remove anything before I reach that weakened point. I will have removed one of these powerups from Fera but she will still get two at once. This isn’t good!)
Kazuki was once more in a terrible situation but there was little he could do. With the power of space locked all around him, the flow of magical energy had nearly been frozen solid and he had just used the last of his magic for the touch of death. With no magic, how could he fuse the three energies and use the only attack that could kill Fera? Even if he couldn’t fuse the energies together, if he just had a bit, he could recreate that sound attack that devastated her earlier but of course, Kazuki’s path was never easy and things did not just fall into his lap.
Just as he was unsure of what to do, the Azirian was already in front of his face. The power rotating in his soul world, the dark void, it instantly drew the giant Azirian in. To both his shock as well as Fera’s, the giant Azirian vanished entirely.
The large body should have taken some time and part of it, some of it should have smashed into him, pushing him back but it just disappeared and reappeared in his soul world. Just before it was swallowed whole, the godly aura from Fera’s compass drilled its way out of the Azirian and made a mad rush as it tried to flee from Kazuki’s soul world.
Kazuki saw this and his eyes lit up.
(Could I not absorb this godly aura!)
Kazuki instantly sent out his own aura from his soul tree and grabbed hold of this godly aura. The moment he did this, the godly aura fought back fiercely and destroyed the part of aura he used.
Kazuki though did not back down. This opportunity had fallen upon him and he would not let this small bit of hope slip through his fingers.
(Strong but this small amount can only resist for so long.)
Kazuki’s aura once more came rushing forth but this time he folded it again and again. he went all in and folded his aura into a hundred layers right then and there. His aura once again grabbed the godly aura and the godly aura tried to rip his own apart but it was doing so at a much slower rate.
(Not enough, I need more.)
Just as he thought this, the giant Aziran had been sucked into the spinning void and was consumed completely. Something completely unexpected happened immediately after.
Instead of a poisonous effect like he expected, the spinning void ate the Azirian completely and spit out some of the energy it took in, and just as if it was his own flesh or magic he had eaten the power shot forth and entered his soul tree. Kazuki felt his soul grow by leaps and bounds and his body grew stronger and tougher.
(This strength, how did I gain power from the Azirian.)
It was at this very moment he recalled what had happened to him when he was surrounded on all sides by the Miasma and on the brink of death. It was then that Zehpris had called out to him and sent a fragment of his soul into Kazuki and fused it with his soul. The moment after that, the Miasma stopped attacking Kazuki.
(I see. I am connected to Zephris and he is the Miasma and many of his soul fragments are within the Azirian’s so, therefore, I also share a connection with these monsters. So when I absorbed that Azirian, my body doesn’t become weak and poisoned as it’s like I’m simply taking in a part of my own body. The Azirian’s can not poison me with their flesh and blood, instead, using the spinning void, I can gain so much from them.)
While Kazuki was reveling in this newfound knowledge and gain, the power of his aura had risen once more. He could feel his control over his soul rise again and with a thought, he folded his aura once more creating two hundred layers at once. The resisting godly aura was held firmly in place as if a true god had grabbed it, dominated it, and forced it down like an obedient dog.
Kazuki smiled like a maniac. He had thought he was at his end and wondered if he was truly cursed when this godsend befell him.

With his will, he took the godly aura and sent it directly into the devouring spinning void. Not even a second later, the spinning void spit out a large amount of power that went directly into Kazuki’s soul tree. Kazuki’s soul trembled from this unexpected force and his soul grew exponentially.
(What is this!?)
Kazuki felt something incredible flow through his body. This wasn’t just his soul, body, and strength that were growing but his Mage core started to expand. This was only the first change. His mind became clearer and his thoughts unclouded. It was like he had become enlightened at this moment. As this power moved through him, he got another surprise.
