ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 276: Sword Wolf Turns Out to Be a Thunderfire Beast Part 6 Part 1

To put it simply, that man was the strongest.

Ever since he was young, he exhibited almost a beast-like intuition. He was able to somehow predict his opponent’s movements before they would even get the chance to make them, and knock the swords out of their hands with ease. It was an unusual way to fight, but it surely was effective.

However, every living thing grows old with time, and then deteriorate and eventually decline. And it was at that point in time when the man realized that his strength was starting to weaken…… The man drastically changed the way in which he fought. He did so even though he was stronger than any man his age.

And even though his beast-like violence was no more, his intuition was still out there, having reached its peak, manifesting as excellent craftsmanship achieved through years of experience and hard training. He was still able to read his enemies like no one else before him.

He would still foil the enemies’ movements before they would get the chance to make them, and he would always defeat them, but this time around with grace and minimum amount of movements and efforts on his end.

Those who would fight him, even when he had already gone old, would still suffer a crushing defeat, one that they could only describe as “It felt as though I was fighting a monster”. His bamboo sword would move so swift and fast that no one was able to keep up with it, and they would always be defeated before they would be able to notice anything. I would truly admire and respect that man.

And then one day, when the man was already feeling that death was slowly starting to tighten its grip around him, the man had the opportunity to face his own grandchild in a duel. Because as it would turn out, one of his grandchildren decided to follow in his footsteps and follow the path of a swordsman.

When it comes to family life, the man was a loving father and granddaughter, and he greatly adored all of his grandchildren. But when it comes to the sword fighting, that was a whole different story. He would not expect for his granddaughter to possess the power and strength that would pose any threat to him, and so he proceeded to read her movements like he would do to any other opponent…… It was then that he finally noticed.

His granddaughter was looking straight at him, seeing him and no one else beside him. But he, on the other hand…… Even though he was looking at his granddaughter, he was unable to see her.

It does not matter who you are. As long as you put your heart and soul into observing your opponent’s moves carefully, there is no need to care for opponent’s identity.

For that man, there was no difference who his opponent was. Even if someone placed a wooden doll in place of his granddaughter, or even a set of armor filled with meat, for him it would still be one and the same.

For that man was only seeing his opponent’s technique. He could not see his opponents as actual people.

Once he realized that fairly simple fact, the man fell into despair. So deep was that despair of his that he decided to drown his sorrow in alcohol for the first and the last time in his life…… And then he arrived at a conclusion. And it was so simple and obvious, that the fact that it was always there and he just was oblivious to it made him laugh.

–––– It was too late for him to change his ways. However, if it was to change those who would wish to follow in his footsteps……

It was only a shame that the person who admired him the most was yet to realize the feelings that stood behind that decision of his.

However, due to a strange turn of fate and set of circumstances, an opportunity presented itself to that man. An opportunity that would let the man’s wishes to passed on to his dear granddaughter, even when he would no longer be present in this world.

To put the matter in simple terms, Ryuuguin Fugaku’s Ryuuguin Style was very similar to a batting cage. But instead of a showdown between a pitcher and catcher, the thing that you are competing against is the flying ball.

I know that I am in no position to make claims like that and that it might be wrong, but thinking about it like that, it’s not all that different from fighting against an NPC of the highest possible difficulty, is it now? Or like trying to fight a PVP battle, but one against multiple enemies.

However, the reason why this sword fighting style is so strong is because you can prepare yourself for fighting strong opponents just by trying to imagine the ways in which they are going to behave.

If you think that I am simply going to be your punching bag, I’m sorry to disappoint you! Think again!

I am going to show you what months of dealing diving punishment at the end of Bakumatsu period managed to teach me! When it comes to fighting real people, I think I am quite adept at that!

Saiga-100 tries to attack me with Magic Sword Las Pegasius from below, but I manage to easily parry the blade in a way a certain old swordsman would. Then I do exactly the same thing the moment the sword tries to fall down on me from above. Each time our swords collide with one another a loud sound of metal hitting against metal can be heard.

You must be kidding me…… Where did you learn that!?

Through correspondence learning, that’s how!

Well, I guess that this answer is not all that wrong.

But I cannot let her do whatever she wants with those flying swords of hers forever. I need to go into the offensive here.

You’re not the only one in here who can use many weapons, you know!?

I change my weapons in a hurry, and my sword disappears, replaced by huge cestuses covering my whole hands and arms. This weapon may be bulky and hard to handle at times, but its design and name are really cool. What’s more, you would think that you would have hard time opening any context windows with that, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth.

Well, in reality, you can open or close the context windows by only moving one finger, but it’s cute that settings like that are important here.

Regalex Cestus.

Now, even though I did not have a sword in my hands, I must keep the role play here going. That is going to make all the difference here.

Even if my goal is still the same, it’s all but offensive from here on out!

Then why won’t you show it to me through actions rather than words!?

Even if you don’t move, this does not mean that others will stay in place as well. So I can see the floating swords starting to be on the move again, and as they approach me, I strike them back without any kind of hesitation.
