ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 287: Epilogue – Spreading Dragon Disaster – Part 2

This place happens to be one of the most dangerous areas in the whole New Continent. This place, this Sigmania Frontline, where two monsters keep on fighting for control over this territory: Faultless Gargantua and Tremor Centipede.

Up above, from the top of the crown jewel of this land, there was a certain “Scorpion” glaring at the two adversaries that were going at each other’s throats without a single care in the world.

 

THE BLUE DRAGON IS EXPOSED, ITS BODY DIES AND BECOMES NUTRIENTS FOR THE WORLD.

 

 

It was located on the New Continent, on a remote coast that hardly any player knew about.

 

It was a creature that met its end from the hands of the Atlantic Reaperorca, which should serve as enough of an explanation why the creature ended up dead. But even after death it could not know peace, for its body had been desecrated and cut into pieces by various smaller sea and land creatures that managed to secure for themselves a steady supply of food.

 

This creature was once known as Eldranza. It was now but a rotting corpse, but once it was known to be the unrivaled king of the underwater world. A champion that no other creature could hope to best.

 

In the world of ShangriLa Frontier, the sea was a barrier that was almost magical in the fact that it was keeping the two completely different worlds from interfering with one another. Each world had its own share of unique predators, and if they were to enter the other world, there is little to no chance that they would be able to stand at the top of the food chain like they did in their respective habitats. However, none of those creatures could be underestimated, make no mistake.

 

However, blinded by its own power and pride, Eldraza made one critical mistake: he tried to pick up a fight with the three most powerful underwater monsters all at once, thinking he would be able to overcome them easily.

 

His end was miserable and his remains got washed up on the beach. However, no human had ever reached this place. No one knows of its existence. There is a certain topological reason for that.

 

It was also the same reason for which those who would ever find this place would not live long enough to tell everyone else about its existence.

 

JIJIJI. JIJIJIJIJIJIJ. JIJIJIJ

 

–––– It was terribly hungry.

 

Being hungry and malnourished was not an easy thing to live through.

 

You have no strength to roar loud enough. You have no strength to move nimble enough. You have no strength to do anything that you would be able to normally do.

 

The amounts of food that it would occasionally find were clearly not enough. In desperation, it even tried to devour parts of its own body, but that was no longer a viable option here.

It has no thing that could even closely resemble the thing that humans called emotions, and there was no specific drive or force that would motivate it to keep on existing from one day to another.

Without thinking, it thrusted its fangs into something that was once known as Eldraza. For a while, all it was doing was swallowing down the rotten flesh and sipping on dirty juices. Then a small mass that was even smaller than the palm of a human hand entered its body.

And then,

 

There was a noise as if something collapsed inside of it. “It” split apart.

 

One thing became two. Two things became four. Four things turned into eight. It just kept on increasing like that. This thing just kept on multiplying and breeding for as long as it kept on feasting on Eldraza’s flesh. And eventually……

 

 

「QUUUWWWRRRRRROOOOOOHHHHHH……」

 

There stood something that looked exactly like Eldraza used to look when it was still alive. However, its whole body was now red in color. 

 

However, it was not a mere projection of the time when the Eldraza was alive, but rather a reproduction of the state shortly upon its death. The thing standing here looked more like a walking corpse than an actual living being, and if there were other living creatures here at the moments, their stomachs surely would have turned in disgust and revolt at this sight.

 

–––– However, there is no one here. No one who might know the name of this thing.

 

The only ones who know its name and its purpose are surely the ones who created its concept and implemented it into this world.

 

“Daisekii”…… If the “Blue” sealed away at the bottom of the ocean abyss is a parasitic organism that prays on and proliferates on the inorganic matter, than this creature right here would be its polar opposite. That is the gist of this new form of a parasite.

Now, after many trials and tribulations in the new continent, some of them would be a perfect material for a book or two, this particular player happened to come across an old Elven forest in which he somehow managed to earn the status of a “Hero” with the local population.

「Still as much of a loser as always, it seems…… By the way, Erina! What the hell do you think you’re doing!?」

 

「Umm, Hesh-sama set up her residence in that big tree over there……!」
