ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 309: A Maiden Like No Other, A Loser Like No Other Part 1

「Umm…… Umm, g—good morning, I guess……?」

「Sure thing, good morning. So? How was it? Noticed anything different?」

Saiga-san eventually woke up, and before she got to answer my question she took a moment to set her clothes straight, since they got a little bit messy with her laying down for those couple of minutes. Before our conversation picked up again, this was one awkward of a “pause” to be had in a situation like that.

「Umm, yes. Actually, there was a change this time around…… I got to log into the game, but right after that I got a message saying that something seems to be wrong with my system and that I should log out immediately.」

「Ah, I see, I get it…… If a message like that popped up, this means more or less that the fault is not on the output system’s side. So unfortunately it looks like you will need to send it for repairs. There is no way to avoid it.」

「I guess that you are right…… In that case, umm…… I guess I am going to take you up on your offer and borrow your console.」

Says Saiga-san while bowing her head towards me on the futon. By the way, that futon of hers looked as though it would be way softer and more comfy than my own bed. As I was saying, it is not all that big of a deal for me, so I get up on my feet while waving my hand in a nonchalant way…… But just then, I felt as though a huge electric shock got sent throughout my legs!?

「Nuoooah!?」

「Hizutome-kun!? Are you alri…… Kyah!」

I was literally THIS close to losing my balance and falling to the ground due to the sudden numbness that spread over my legs, but fortunately I managed to maintain my balance and prevent myself from falling over. However, thinking I would fall over, Saiga-san stood up in a hurry trying to help me, but she happened to step on the hem of her own kimono, which caused her to trip and fall over forward……

「………!!!」

「OGUBUEH!?!?!?」

This whole situation happened to result in Saiga-san hedbutting me right in the abdomen. And since Saiga-san’s moves were accelerated due to the inertia and momentum of her fall, it was a way stronger head butt than you would think.

「……!!! ……!?!?!?」

Oh shit, not good! At this rate I am going to throw up the entirety of the breakfast that I have eaten before coming here!

Since I was barely able to stand at this point, this sudden attack was more than enough to drain all the strength that was left from my knees, causing them to give in. and as I was falling to the ground, Saiga-san followed suit, brought down by the way in which her head was pulling her down.

「Ojou-sama, there is something I would like to discuss with you regarding today’s schedule…… Please excuse me for a moment.」

No matter how you choose to look at it, it was a scene that was so clichéd that it was almost unbelievable. Of course the maid would walk into the room at just the worst timing possible. Of course the two of us would fall right on top of one another mere seconds before said maid came here. And of course our current configuration would look as if I was pushing Saiga-san down, with my knee in between her legs and all other stuff that usually follows such a scene.

I somehow managed to suppress the urge to throw up my breakfast, but I did so by covering my mouth with my hand, so right now I was unable to speak up and clear the misunderstanding that was more than obvious here. And being in this kind of suggestive situation, even if Saiga-san tried to cry out “No! That’s not what you think! It’s not!”, she would have little to no persuasive power here.

The sliding doors got closed in a hurry, and what fallows after that is the prolonged period of a really awkward silence between Saiga-san and I.

For the time being, I managed to avoid the worst possible scenario of being thrown out after being accused of sexually assaulting my school colleague at her own house, but…… Who would have thought? That the hardest boss of the Saiga Castle Keep would be none other than Saiga Rei herself?

「I am really, truly sorry for this……! I don’t even know how to apologize to you enough……!」

Now, here’s the funny thing about Japanese groveling, or perhaps its biggest mystery. That is why I have told Saiga-san that it was okay and that she should raise her head. If someone were to see a girl groveling in front of me, I would be the one who would suffer the consequences here.

It would be good enough if we were to put this incident behind us as soon as possible. I don’t want to hear something alongside the lines that she will no longer be able to get married because of an accident like that. Or rather, there are no cameras in this room, right? The whole Saiga family won’t barge in here in a second, demanding compensation, right?

「A-Anyways, are you ready to migrate your data for the time being? Or rather, will you be able to do it?」

It’s not that I did not like this place, but…… I get a feeling that the Saiga household has shaved off a huge portion of my mentality gauge. Honestly, I have not felt this much tension ever since I decided to do this Time Attack in “Cosmos Buster” with no “Continue” option available to me.

And to put things into perspective, we talk about a game where the last stage was fighting the Last Boss after doing a Boss Rush of all the previous boss enemies, but with way better stats. I don’t need to say just how mentally taxing it was to do, especially with continues, right?
