ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 323 Part 1

ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 323: Numerous Trials and Errors Due to Punishment Due to Exaggerated Environmental Destruction Part 1

Draculus Dinotriasix…… What do you think when you hear a name like that? Personally, I think that it is too much of a mouthful to pronounce out loud. Way too scientific and not player-friendly. Plus I do believe that it was not all that fitting to the monster that happened to receive it. It was a dinosaur-like monster, but a way smaller than any actual dinosaur. And it was trying to jump at me and rip me to shreds right about now.

However, even though its claws were long and sharp, and it could move around pretty quickly, it was of no real danger to me. Not as long as it was afflicted with Poison debuff and said debuff was ticking away. Case in point: the dinosaur jumped at me ready to attack, but just then it collapsed to the ground and stopped moving, its body exploding into a myriad of polygons. Apparently the Poison debuff managed to do enough damage over time, completely exhausting its HP bar.

「Eguh……」

I may have went with the flow here and strengthened the Emperor’s Sword, but truth to be told I had no real way of knowing just how much stronger it had gotten as a result of said strengthening. It was mainly due to the fact that when it was still but an Emperor’s Sword I hardly even used it in actual combat. The raw damage increase was a given here, but the main point of concern was the amount of HP that each tick of Poison debuff would subtract from the enemy monsters. Of course, normal monsters were quite susceptible to status ailments of various kind, so checking the exact amount was not a problem here. However, there is also one more issue that may or may not be an issue per se, but……

「But still, it’s kind of annoying that the only way in which you can inflict the Poison debuff it’s through piercing attacks. Slash damage would have been so much better in here for sure……」

Rapiers are good weapons, but they force a rather peculiar play style on their users. If those were normal twin swords, however, I could have easily adapt my usual play style to them, or maybe even develop it into something even more aggressive. And truth to be told, some of Katsu’s movements and attacks looked really interesting, so I was dying to try and incorporate them into the dual swords fighting style. But like this, this great Katsu emulation would have to wait for a more suitable weapon or occasion.

Anyways, after all was said and done and the battle was over, the only thing that was left for me to do was to pick up whatever items dropped out of the entire horde of Draculus Dinotriasixs and be on my way. And while I was doing just that, going all over the place and picking up loot, all of a sudden I happened to overhear bits and pieces of human language sounding in the distance.

「I knew it, there are way too many players in here for the moment…… What the hell is this even!? This should be the middle of nowhere, but you have a bigger chance of encountering other players in here than engaging in battle with actual monsters! How are we even supposed to farm the materials from the monster if there are no monsters to be found!?」

Uwah…… I’m not really in the mood to fight other players, since my main purpose of being here is to test out how my new equipment is performing in actual combat. However, if there will be no monsters in here on which I could test my newly strengthened weapons and armor, then fighting human opponents might become a necessity. A pain in the ass, but a necessary pain in the ass nonetheless.

Also, there is also one more thing that I am currently on the lookout for. A place that is also necessary for myself becoming stronger. The facility that is going to let me release the level cap on my avatar, so that I can level up beyond level ninety nine. But sadly, I seem to be unable to find it no matter where I would try to look.

According to the various information that I heard from Rei, Magical Girl Wannabe, Massive Dynamite and Kyo-Timate, it seems that this level cap removing facility is located somewhere on this new continent. It is supposed to be in some really remote, normally hard to reach place, far from any sign of civilization. But if its somewhere around this continent, this means that we are going to get there eventually. So it is only a matter of time.

No matter what or how much time it may take, that sweet three digit number right to the word “level” on my HUD is going to be mine.

There is always a possibility that raising my level too quickly might actually harm my Vorpal Soul gauge, but it is a risk I am willing to take here. Sure, Vorpal Soul is an important part of my character in this game, but being able to have a three digit level comes with its own unique charm that is difficult for me to simply ignore.

Especially since there is always a possibility of obtaining new and powerful skills once my level increases beyond one hundred. And since for the time being my main objective in this game is to beat the ever living shit out of Nightprowler Luukan, some of those “above level one hundred skills” might actually prove to be a priceless asset aiding me in that particular endeavor. Especially since the real Luukan is definitely going to be way more powerful than that alter ego of his. Hence, getting rid of the level cap is a must here.

Also, everything is indicating that our Guild is finally on a good path to become a force to be reckoned with, which is good as well to hear. I do believe that there are things in this game that cannot be done on your own and that you could only accomplish with the help of others. Kyo-Timate’s words even served to reassure me in this feeling. So it might take us some time, but we are surely going to get there.

But since there seem to be no more monsters in this area, it might actually be a good idea to return to the castle for now as well.

「W-What the hell? What is this thing? It’s all black and…… UWAAAHHH!?」

「Alright, take that! How does my scythe taste!? Is it good!? I sure hope so! Hooray!!!」

It certainly is annoying that there are WAY too many players around these parts. However, since this is a new continent, all of the players must be theoretically strong enough to handle the dangers of this place, so that would also mean that the number of possible challenges I can face have increased as well. Anyways, they look like a relatively weak bunch, so I might just go at them without any actual plan or strategy, just brute force things out.

「UWAAAAAAHHH!!! Wait, let me heal you! There! Alright guys! Get the bastard~!!!」
