ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 326 Part 1

ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 326: And that is why you do not forget about Death Part 1

Look at the sheer size and the ornamentation of this scythe, it is not a proper weapon but rather a decorative one. And it’s not that because it’s an decorative weapon that is automatically useless. What matters here is not the type of the weapon, but it’s stats. It is thanks to that that you can technically defeat the Demon Lord with an enhanced stick, as long as its parameters are high enough.

Also, decorative weapons are quite hard to handle, so seeing someone actually being able to wield them properly is quite a sight to behold. Not to mention that their weight is not as it should be, so even the simple swinging around of it can cause the wielder many difficulties. But here in this Full Dive world…… everything is a fair game as long as you have the system assist to help you out.

That being said, a scythe was the perfect weapon for the job right here. And this here scythe was behaving really nice. And I say that having experienced video games where the scythe wielding was done so poorly that it was basically a useless weapon on the brink of being unplayable. But this thing right here was the total opposite of that.

That is why I was able to hack through a whole wall of ghost soldiers in here with but a single swing, and it is without any kind of skill correction. …… However, their numbers sure were annoying here!

「Out of my way, out of my way, OUT OF MY WAY!!!」

Thinking about it now, the scythe is that kind of weapon that is similar to an axe or a sledgehammer when it comes to handling them. So I wonder why the Grim Reapers would choose the scythe if they also had other, better options? Thing is, unlike swords, where you need to hold your hands closely together, two-handed axes and sledgehammers allow you to keep your arms spread apart when you make your swings.

But since I’m currently in the Overflow state, even the slightest twist of my body causes excessive movement. Even the smallest of movements here can cause to start spinning around like a tornado, and needless to say, falling down will make me die on the spot, no questions asked. So I have no other way but to be extra careful about my movements as I continue to maw down the hordes of ghostly enemies.

You need to admire and hate the Warrior class at the same time. They can be tremendously strong at the same time as being really cheap to play. However, that can lead to them being either easy to beat or virtually unable to be defeated, depending on the circumstances…… Yes, Cosmo Buster, I’m looking at you here.

However, the current situation with those ghosts is like constantly swinging between the two extremes. My scythe is dealing a good amount of damage here thanks to all of the upgrades it went through in such a short time, but one of its biggest flaws is that its range is limited. This is not good against waves of seemingly endless enemies. Not to mention that I’m also screwed if any of those warriors have means of range attacking.

And since I do not possess any scythe skills in my arsenal, my only means of fighting back here is to manually reproduce the attacks that I have learnt in other Full Dive games. But aside from that, I can only do rotary slashes here without having to worry about anything. But even if I try to reproduce some more advanced techniques here, they are going to do me no good here without the necessary system assist and skill correction.

「Tsk……」

While clicking my tongue, I change my weapon to the sword. I don’t want to use the motion correction system here too much, since it carries a bigger risk of over-transmitting some of my movements, but if I stick to something simple and not overly flashy, I should be able to do this relatively easy. At least in theory.

I then gathered my strength and jumped up about three meters into the air without the aid of any skill there. That’s the kind of power that leveled up Agility can give you. I then activated Frit Float at the highest point of the jump and I jumped forward as far as I possibly could.

「God damn it…… Does she possess infinite amount of stamina to run away and dash like that……!?」

The First Princess runs away from me with a strangely graceful and beautiful form of dashing. When you stop to think about it for a moment, her unnatural speed makes a lot of sense here. I mean, she’s a ghost, something without matter. So she has literally nothing that can obstruct her movements, not even her own clothes. That’s a sly development choice.

On the other hand, the only way in which my body could accelerate further right about now was by means of jumping forward. And once the inertia of my jumping is all but exhausted, the only thing that is left for me is to fall to the ground. I could technically slap some ghosts with my scythe like a scorpion stinger to try to see if that would negate the effect of the fall, but……

「…… Is such a thing even possible in the first place?」

It should be possible, at least in theory. But honestly, the fact if it is possible or not can be all but ignored for now. What is important here is dealing with the obstacles that were in my path in form of the ghost warriors.

「I still have some mobility skills to be used here…… Let’s do this! I’m not giving up!」

I yell that out loud as I throw myself into the seething vortex of angry ghost warriors. At the same time as my landing would take place, I stabbed the tip of the scythe into one of the ghost warriors and then I changed the direction of the blade, creating something like a rotary slash. It was move that you would not see all that often in video games.

This rotary slash create a sort of blank space all around me for a short moment and I proceed forward before that space has the time to fill up with more of the ghostly enemies. If I had twin swords on me at this point in time, this maneuver would have been even easier, but unfortunately the scythe was all I had for now. And sometimes it was really hard to move it just in the way I wanted it to.

「But thanks that, there is little less than thirty meters for me to go…… Let’s goo! I can do this!!!」

It’s INVENTORY time!!! I know that it may seem weird and unnecessary to use it in place such as this, but…… rest assured, I know what I’m doing in here! With this, I am going to stop this shitty First Princess once and for all! Mark my words!!!
