ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 347 Part 1

ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 347: Dragon! Dragon! Part 12 Part 1

When it comes to the Great Red Devourer, it has the advantage of possessing power that is simply too overwhelming for us to handle on our own. However, it only has that, that power alone. And with enough determination, strategizing and field control on our part, it is possible for us, the players, to gradually chip away that advantage from it. We just need enough time.

「Kuh……! And now for some bizarre reason, all aggro from the tri-headed Tyranno is gone, and all aggro is focused on me!?」

I know that technically our situation here right now is like “the enemy of my enemy is my friend”, but it would be really nice if you could all cut me some slack! I can’t do my supporting job right if I have to have eyes all over my head and always be on the lookout for a surprise attack or a possibility of getting backstabbed!

But still, this form of Great Red Devourer has one saving grace: it’s parts are all present from the get-go, so it is easier to predict its movements and attacks. It was much harder with the second phase, because you had no idea where the attack would come from and what form it would assume. That kind of advantage is more than enough here.

No matter how fiercely the tri-headed Tyranno tries to attack the Great Red Devourer, two of its heads are always take me as the primary object of attack, without fail. I don’t know why that is, but I can say this for certain…… it is a factor that I must always include in my strategies. Failing to do so would prove to be fatal in consequences.

As far as materials and resources go, I am going to be fine. However, it feels as though I am running at full speed on a thin and wobbly iron plate here. Not to mention that said place feels as though it’s been places over a cliff so vast and deep that you cannot actually see its bottom.

I also inspired that Elven kid to get a move on and pass the message around, but honestly…… Whether or not he is going to do what he was asked of me to do, it is anyone’s guess. It is a kind of gamble that I just had to take here.

「Guh, nuoooh……!!!」

Due to a slight miscalculation on my end, the incoming energy beam attack collides with the surface of Dis Pater, but instead of being reflected towards the Great Red Devourer it ends up splashing all over the place.

Dis Pater has the ability to reflect magical attacks to some extent, and if need be, I can always activate its trump card, the Exceed Charge ability, in order to absorb the incoming magic attack completely. That is why the enemies using magical attacks are hardly a cause for concern here.

But that’s about it, there are no more advantages here. Not to mention that since this is a really long ballet, my choice of weapons was also severely limited. The only weapon here I could use without having to worry about it breaking on me was Duxaram, and that is only because of its ability to recover its durability upon landing a successful critical hit. Without a weapon like that on me, it would increasingly hard to hold on as well as I was right now.

But that being said. The durability of Dis Pater is not something that can be regenerated or conserved. So with each consecutive laser shot blocked by me, the durability of the shield was chipped away more and more. That’s the price one must pay for having one’s body being saved from certain evaporation.

「Oh shit…… What to do, tri-headed Tyranno!? I’m afraid that my DPS is not nearly enough!!!」

Aaaagh! For fuck’s sake! I knew it! I’m the only one here who does not have nearly enough DPS to be able to hold on his own! And without DPS, I cannot do anything in here! There is a colossal difference between ambushing a bunch of sissies in shiny armors and interrupting a monster versus monster fight!!!

It’s like going into a team sumo fight, where you are the only one who cannot really contribute to the team effort! And even though everyone is going to deny that, I know that they are going to be giving me the stink eye behind my back! I’m sure of it!

I know that there are sports out there that allow people of different weight categories to fight one another, but it was like throwing a super-lightweight fighter against an opponent from the opposite side of the scale, super-heavyweight. Does the super-lightweight fighter even has a chance in an unfair match-up like that!? After working so tirelessly to strengthen my bonds with the Crystal Scorpions, I am more than painfully aware of the answer to that question.

There is a clear distinction between the strength of humans and the strength of the monster. And trying to go against the stronger enemy blindly and with no knowledge or strategy is only going to result in your death. Think of it like a ballroom dance, but only with such difference that all of the spectators and your partner are the Gods of Death. Yeah, that sounds like a good analogy here.

「Kuh…… That being said, that tail jaw is really starting to get on my nerves……」

The tri-headed Tyranno has the majority of the Dragon’s heads covered, so there is no problem there. But the biggest problem here is that tail jaw that keeps on targeting me no matter what. Just for how long is this thing going to keep doing that?

Not to mention that because one of the main heads and the tail one are after me, the range of their attacks and the possibilities for said attacks are really high. No matter where I try to go or where I try to hide, it is always there to keep chasing after me.

「Who would have thought…… that I would be forced to do such wacky acrobatics just to evade some stupid laser a monster is shooting…… Whoa there!?」

I was forced to avoid two laser beams at once here, and I almost broke my neck trying to jump my way around them. The way of avoiding here…… I should really start calling this discipline a “Laser Skipping Rope”.

I want to go on the offensive here, I really do! But how can I when that stupid monster is always there to rain on my parade, either by trying to hack my legs with its tail or smash my body flat with its head.

Whatever should I do here? I may be able to do something if I stop concerning myself with the tri-headed Tyranno, but if I do that, I will have to face the full wrath of the Great Red Devourer’s attacks. And this is something that I absolutely cannot allow myself to do, since they are way too dangerous for me to be able to handle them on my own.

「Is there not some sort of way of neutralizing this thing!? …… God damn it, if only I had more firepower available to me!」

I technically have even more firepower available to me, but it is only in form of the shockwave attack that the Scorpion Gauntlet can use, powered up by the light of the moon. If I were to use that here, it should theoretically be possible for me to smash one of the Dragon’s heads into fine dust, but……
