ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 348: Dragon! Dragon! Part 13 Part 1

「I can’t do it! I can’t do it! I can’t do it! Impossible! Impossible! Impossible!」

This thing is just impossible. And I do not proclaim that lightly. Is not the matter of having a strong ally such as tri-headed Tyranno on our side. The overwhelming power difference here comes from numerical values alone.

I jump to the side in a style that resembled Hollywood-movies acrobatics. And in the very next moment, a huge cow’s head slammed into the ground at the exact place where I was standing a moment ago.

Looking towards the tri-headed Tyranno, it was in no better situation than I was. There was a beak of the eagle piercing its head, and the paws of the lion clutching its body…… In other words, it was turned into a punching bag. Kind of ironic, isn’t it? We technically have a high numerical value when it comes to firepower, but one squirrel-projectile is more than enough to drive us into a corner.

「Sorry. For. Making. You. Wait. Did. You. Wait. Long?」

「Wha…… What the hell…… is that thing supposed to be……!?」

「S-Sanraku-san……!!!」

Kuh, I guess there is no other choice but to withdraw from here from now. Sorry for that, tri-headed Tyranno, but I would like you to hold the fort while we are gone, okay? Try to do your best and not to die, okay……?

It’s a hard choice, but a choice that had to be made. So I cast “Utsuro Makagami” and leave this place, looking towards Deepslaughter and Tottori and shouting:

「Emergency information sharing gathering!」

「Ehh, umm, ahh……」

「It seems that the trigger for the change here was a certain number of blood crystals being defeated. And right after that, it seems that the highest priority for the newly emerged monsters is to go towards the main body and merge with it.」

In the end, even though it was losing portions of HP, I could not feel any intention from the tri-headed Tyranno to stop doing what it was doing and continue to fight. So I just threw some healing potions at it before retreating. But back to the main topic at hand, I guess it was right of me to assume that the trigger here was related to the blood crystals. It was way too big of a flag to just assume that it was just a fancy decoration of the battlefield.

「Umm, what else…… It seems that for the time being the main body does not take any offensive actions here. The only thing that keeps on attacking us are those monster chunks generated by the red tornado.」

I don’t know if the noise that can be heard coming from that red tornado as it draws closer is that of the insect wings or maybe feathers growing from the wings of birds, but one thing is for certain here: there is a whole lot of variety of monsters inside of that tornado.

And the worst thing here is that…… Even though some parts of the monsters fall out of the tornado and fall to the ground like projectiles, if let alone when they fell they are going to return to the tornado after some amount of time. And since the number of parts is seemingly limitless, there is no use for us in trying to defeat those parts, because it is not a singular action but rather something that occurs at set intervals.

「So long story short…… It’s like summoning monsters in form of magical bullets, but at a rapid-fire pace?」

「At first glance that is exactly what this looks like. Not to mention that because this tornado comes from its back, the main body does not need to do anything special on its own.」

「…… Hahaha.」

After hearing all that, the only reaction that Tottori was able to muster out of his mouth was a dry laugh. Unfortunately, this is the hand that we were given and we must play with it. If raid monsters could be cheesed by means of motion cancelling and other strategies like that, people would not need muli-unit parties in order to clear those battles. There is a reason why raid bosses are so hardly cleared solo.

「…… So? Do we have any chance of winning against a thing like that? What do you think, Sanraku-kun?」

「Honestly, there are no chances for us to win this as we are now…… The only strategy available to us is to hit thing with everything we have alongside the tri-headed Tyranno. Aside from that…… Emul, if you please.」

「Coming right up!」

Emul casts Magic Edge and it flies towards the red tornado, crushing against the raging winds and causing the damage effect to pop up at the point of contact. There was a moment of silence, and then something appeared within the tornado and was shot in our general direction, so we all took a step back as to not be hit by it.

The next moment, there was a monkey arm that was fired like a javelin at the location where we were just standing.

「…… Was that supposed to be a Rocket Punch, or what?」

「It seems that only specific body parts are being fired in response to certain actions. In other words……」

Just in case, I showcase that Aradval Rebuild is at the ready to be swung at any time here. That seems to be more than enough to keep the perverted woman silent. Right now, it is important that we do not lose any time on pointless bickering.

「But, there seems to be one thing that I do not understand here……」

「And what would that thing be?」

「If it is an attack that we cannot possibly do anything against, then why fight back in the first place?」

…… I see, a thing like that is not at all unreasonable when you think about it. Also, it is very unlikely that this red tornado is an invincible object. But in case it is, all we need to do is to just spread about and wait it out. Nice and easy.

Of course, just because it reacts to our action, the possibility of it being an invincible object cannot be completely ruled out. However, I do not want to think that a raid monster would be equipped with invincible mechanics.

「By the way, Tottori? Do you have any effective ways of attacking that tornado from a distance?」

「There are ways to do it, sure. There is one in particular, but…… It is not anything all too powerful, like the things that Deepslaughter-san here uses. Also, it can be used a limited amount of times, so please don’t expect anything too crazy out of it.」

「Don’t sweat it. When it comes to me, I am more or less the same. I have some powerful moves up my sleeve, but I can only use them once, or maybe twice at best.」

Attacking the main body is not all that bad of an idea in the first place. However, assuming that even if we were able to get close enough to the main body, across the projectile vomiting tornado without any damage being inflicted upon us, there would be a whole another problem waiting for us: the multi dragon heads ready to fire breath and beam attacks at us without mercy. Quite the reward waiting for you at the goal point.
