ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 369: It’s the Dress That Makes You Look Fancy Part 1

「The money, you say?」

「Yes, the money. And I mean cold, hard cash by it.」

I know that I might be repeating myself here when I say this, but let me say it once more to underline that fact: no matter when we come to visit her, Elk always looks to be in the tip-top condition. Today is no exception to that rule as well.

「As you may or may not know, the techniques and working methods we, the Pruners, tend to operate are very rare, powerful and complex…… So it should only come as natural to charge even more money for some of my “secret” services, don’t you think?」

「…… I guess so, but that also depends. Incidentally, what is this “secret service” that we talk about here?」

SWOOSH (Elk reaches out her bunny hand towards me silently)

TAP (I put a ten thousand mani coin on Elk’s extended hand, also without saying a single word here)

「Hmm, I guess this is going to be like, twenty percent or so?」

「Say, Sanraku-san? What are we going to do now?」

「Well, first we need to wait until my weapons and equipment are fully repaired. Once this is done, off to the Crystal Cliffs we go, I guess.」

Even though I was unable to see Emul’s expression when he was sitting on top of my head, I was able to tell that he was displeased with my answer, from the way he shifted his position there. I know buddy, you may not like it, but we need to at least verify how that skull item thingy works, so I guess there is just no helping it here.

「But you know what…… I have been thinking recently, and I think that the time will sure be nigh for us to graduate from going to Crystal Cliffs and to try to find some better farming spot for ourselves.」

Now, I am not saying that the amount of money that I am earning on the Crystal Cliffs is small. Quite the opposite, actually. It is still good. Really, really good. But. I just can’t help it but to wonder if there is a place somewhere out there that would allow me to earn even more money than that. Especially considering my current level.

And because my level, equipment and skills are more than appropriate to handle whatever it is that the new continent might throw my way, I think that it will be a good idea to just go there and start exploring, see if I can find a new possible farming ground for myself.

「That is why this will probably be the last time we will go there for a while. It was fun while it lasted, but such is the way of life: you just have to keep on moving forward.」

「It sounds all good and fancy when you say that, Sanraku-san, but in reality you are just like a carnivore who just changes its hunting grounds when the current one is unable to provide you with enough meal.」

「You know what? You are goddamn right! We go in search for new and unknown tastes!」

Alright! Now that we have that matter all cleared up…… Let us go and have some fun one last time!

Now, here it would be a good moment to venture back into the old continent and get my business there all done while the Deepslaughter and all those other idiots are most probably running around the new continent like headless chickens…… But I cannot do that. At least not yet. There is still something that is needed to be done before that.

「Hmm, let’s see here…… Well, looks like we will be doing something like this…… Alright. Now, Emul. Teleportation gate, if you please.」

「Roger that. Are we going to Eidolato, as per usual?」

「No, not this time. At least, not yet. The destination is the new continent’s frontline base. That, and……」

Now who would have thought? You would think that the great adventure based around escorting the former King to safety throughout the dangerous woods would take a little bit more than a one day’s worth of time. No matter how you look at it, it’s just unbelievable.

However, it is all true that both the King and the Princess had to seek refuge inside of the dark woods in order to make a run from the Third Knight and his minions that were targeting their lives. And the fact that they managed to get back to safety was only possible thanks to the perverted Sage Deepslaughter, the Hero of the People of the Forest Tottori the Simane and the Avenging swordsman who in the end disappeared beneath the cold waters of the harbor……

「Please pardon the sudden intrusion.」

「…… Oooh! Well, if it is not Sanraku! Good heavens!」

「Oh my!」

As for the aftermath of that previous incident…… A whole lot of things happened one after another, and as a result, there was quite a commotion right that the front gates of the Skull Azuchi Castle, which was the frontline base for the Pioneers in this continent. Part of those incidents was my own death I the depths of the harbor, but oh well…… The important thing here is that due to the commotion and the state of panic in which all of the players were at the time, both King Toravante and his daughter Princess Aphilia managed to slip inside of the castle unnoticed by anyone.

However, it certainly must have been a shock for the two of them to see their savior, the Avenger Sanraku, to stand in front of them alive and well a few hours after his presumed death. And what’s more, their savior was now a male instead of female!

「That previous form of mine tends to draw in unwanted attention, hence this insightful appearance of mine. Your Majesty, Your Highness, you will have to forgive me for looking like that…… And with that, I would like to greet you once again, this time properly.」

Even though the King looked to be somewhat devastated thinking that I was dead, now that I was standing right in front of him in this imposing form, he looked somewhat relieved and glad to see me.
