ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 372 Part 1
ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 372: The Fastest Man In the World Part 1
「…… So, what you are trying to say here is, that this is this whole “High Connection” that you were talking about earlier?」
「Knead, knead. Knead, knead. Knead, knead?」
「Emul, please. Could you stop kneading my head? It won’t bring any results, you know? That’s not what this is all about here.」
「Ahahi! Hohohehohoheheru! Hihiruhefuwa!!!」
Surely Emul was trying to say something here, but because I was pinching hard on his cheeks he was unable to articulate any meaningful word here. By the way, for his cheeks to be able to stretch and swell so much when you pinch them…… You sure this is not some kind of illness? Dude, maybe you should do to the doctor with it and have it checked out just in case?
「So? You will have to explain in greater detail here, since I fail to see it from your words alone: what’s so good about this whole “High Connection?”」
「Yes, about that. You see…… First of all, apparently there is no limit when it comes to the number of skills that you can fuse together at one time with this method.」
Really? No, seriously? That’s actually kind of sick.
「Second thing, with this method there is no need for you to trouble yourself with useless little details such as balance between skills. You can easily fuse together attack skills and support skills.」
Really! No, seriously! This is just getting better and better!
「And last but not least…… The skills that re fused together can be unlocked and used at any given time, without any real restrictions.」
REALLY!? NO, SERIOUSLY!? This is simply the best! This is like a dream come true!
「Normally, using this amazing secret method of skill connecting would require a certain amount of EXP points that you would have to sacrifice, but…… Oho, what’s this? Could it be……? Yes, you can actually use the “Tuned combination” in another, more efficient way.」
REALLY!? NO, SERIOUSLY!? HOW CAN SOMETHING THAT IS ALREADY SO GOOD GET ANY BETTER!?
「Now, as for the actual method of doing this and its cost…… I will combine each and every single skill for you for the measly price of one hundred million mani!!」
…… Eh? Really? No, seriously? You are just going to solve everything with money? Is that really the best solution possible in here?
「So, let me get this straight: if I get this right, if I would like to combine three of my skills together, the overall cost would be something around three hundred million mani?」
「Yes, that is right. You are indeed correct in stating that.」
「Onee-chan! No matter how you look at it, that’s way too overwhelming of a price! No, it’s a downright rip-off!?」
「No, Emul, it’s not really a rip-off. I’d say that’s actually a relatively cheap of a price here.」
「Say what now!?」
Anyway, this is only a game, so money and experience are not really that much of a problem here, since you can pretty much farm it all for as long as you need. The problem here is going to be the exact amounts you are going to be washing down the drain.
Spending money on skills means saving the EXP points that are now something extremely precious to me. And if we wanted to connect, let’s say…… Five or even ten skills together, the amount of EXP I would have to sacrifice would have surely reached the levels that even someone like me would hardly even find acceptable.
And looking back at my experience, if we are ever going to face an opponent like Wezaemon, someone capable of reducing your overall level, this would surely affect not only my stats, but also my overall in-game performance as well.
However, if you take money and place them where the EXP points would be used, the overall story changes quite a lot. I mean, there are various factors that you would have to take here into consideration, such as the game’s economy and market prices, but if you are to sell some jewels at the store, the amount of money you get for said jewels is always going to be the same, no matter if you are a level one player or a level one hundred player.
And if you think about it logically, it’s not all that hard to figure out which one of the two players is going to get more value out of those jewel money.
But unlike any other game out there, as long as you have your Avatar’s data available to you, you can easily get by here, even if you were to have zero money on your ass.
「When it comes to farming money, does that mean that the Crystal Scorpion Cliffs are the best way to go here in terms of efficiency? No, but maybe, just maybe……」
「Oh, yeas, that’s right. I forgot to mention that, but there is also one more condition that needs to be met for the “Synchronized Connection” to take place.」
「And what would that thing actually be?」
「Originally, Pruning process is something that would permanently change the flow of mana within the person’s body. So it actually helps to be a strong character with lots of experience accumulated inside of them, but there is also a catch here: one must possess at least a solid image of the new technique that is going to awaken as a result of combining the skills. If that mental image is not strong enough, the “Synchronized Connection” is simply not going to work as intended……」
It took me about five seconds to fully process what Elk just told me here. Then, it takes me another five seconds to try and understand the meaning of those words. Then it was yet another five seconds to come to a certain conclusion.
After thinking about for approximately fifteen seconds, my brain finally managed to organize everything that Elk just said, and basically throw about seventy percent of all of her words out the window. Then, with the remaining thirty percent of words I was finally able to reach a somewhat satisfying conclusion.
「In other words, what you are trying to say here is that I need some model for the skill I wish to get, right? I need to look at it and burn its image inside of my head.」
「Yes! That’s correct! Great answer! And here! A reward for getting it right!」
YOU HAVE RECEIVED A ONE HUNDRED MANI.
Wow, talk about a reward here…… Ah, but I get it. It’s the thought behind the gift that really counts.
「…… Hmm.」
「The role of the disciple is to follow their teacher’s teachings, but it is also the duty of the teacher to pass on their techniques and help the disciple grow.」
So if that is true, then it should go without saying that it should be possible to learn skills from other Bounty Hunters. It would also mean that I should be more than compatible enough with Ruthia’s “Mach”, and it should be possible to develop it into something even greater, like “Tachyon”, for example.
Elk’s words are not enough of the foundation to be sure about anything here, and I am sure that the game’s system is full of ambiguities like that. It cannot be said for sure, but I do believe that simply “observing” the desired skill is not going to be enough here.
