ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 379 Part 2

ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 379: Oh the Great President, Whatever Shall You Do Next…… Let Us Start the Bakumatsu Rampage! Part 2

Yu (Wrong input?)

If we were to think about it logically, it would make the most sense for us to aim at bringing down the Kingdom of Elgaren first and then follow it up with the Kingdom of Vrugante in that specific order…… at least that’s what a normal player would do. But I want to try doing something else before doing just that.

And it is for that exact reason that we need to strengthen our base first and foremost. Technically speaking there is no need for us to do that, since we were strong and fortified enough to handle the occasional enemy patrols with relative ease, but one must not forget to take care of domestic affairs even in the midst of a foreign campaign.

「President! It’s those Elgaren guys again!」

「Good grief, those guys…… They really must think that we have all the free time in the world to take care of them, huh……?」

Oh well, not that it really matters all that much. At the very least, my trusty United Tomahawk won’t get rusty.

So far everything was proceeding smoothly and without any major incident. The story is neat the User Interface works as intended…… But there is one particular element that I have found to be especially shitty in this setting.

「Hey! Hey! Hey!」

「Guwaah!?」

Alright, and thus the gauge has been filled once more!

「Eat this! PRESIDENT BEEEEEEAAAAAAMMMMMM!!!」

Shouting this, there is a fan of concentrated energy being emitted from my eyes, making quick work of the enemies dressed in Elgaren armors.

「Hey! Hey! Hey!」

「G-Gyah!?」

Oh yeah, that yet another gauge filled to the brim!

「Here comes another one! PRESI…… DENT BEEEEEEAAAAAAMMMMMM!!!」

This attack is literally broken. The moment the ones who wish to bring the world of peace to an end and plunge it into the flames of war are hit with it, their bodies become instantly disintegrated, leaving their comrades in arms discouraged, their morale broken. Knowing that they are no match for the President, they stop fighting on the spot.

「Hey! Hey! Hey!」

「Guheeh!?」

And just like that, the gauge has accumulated once more…… Oh? Could it be that you are the last one?

「There is nothing that is impossible before the glory of the President!」

And well, there you have it. This game…… You can win the majority of the encounters just by accumulating your special gauge and unleashing the beam of energy from your eyes.

It doesn’t matter if you would want to have a hundred or a thousand people at the same time on the field as enemies. Giving each and every single soldier out there a personal AI is something that is impossible to do for a variety of reasons, but the technical limitations being the most important of them all. That is why the AI governs not the individual soldiers, but the units or armies as a whole.

The same principle is true for the Kawagumo President. When it comes to soldiers, their actual battle power and effectiveness is handled not by their individual strength, but rather the collective strength of the entire unit or army.

However, there is one exception to this exact rule here…… Yes, the President.

I see. Certainly, the way in which the AI in this game is acting seems to be lacking a certain…… something. However, it is not all that surprising to see that the AI would be on a dumber side, since the player would be alone in here and their numbers go into hundreds and thousands. So there has to be something that balances out that disparity.

To make a long story short, it is way easier for the President to annihilate an army of one hundred people in three minutes than to hope that a hundred versus hundred battle would resolve itself in under five minutes.

I am sure that in time there will be some extra set of conditions to be added in to the battles in order to raise the difficulty bar even higher. However, as a general rule of thumb: most battles can easily be won simply by brute forcing your way through them, requiring you to only hack away with your sword or shooting your beam left and right.

「Plus, the enemy movements are not all that good to begin with, so you cannot even say that this is hard in any sort of a way……」

But mindlessly hacking and slashing away at your opponents…… This is the exact type of shitty game that tends to exhaust your mental strength.

This does mean that if I get too used to this mindless tomahawk waving, it might actually impair my ShanFro performance…… Oh yeah, that’s right.

「Thank you for all of your hard work, President, sir. Now, what about the remaining enemy soldiers?」

「Strip them of their weapons and armors and release them. They are all humans as we are, and they surely have families that await their return back home.」

「Understood, sir. As you wish.」

There is no battle results screen after the skirmish has ended, but instead I am teleported back to the base, sitting in my Presidential chair. This is my save point in this game. Also, Rice Miso was asking me how we should treat the enemy soldiers that were not dead for some bizarre reason.

「There is a way more thrilling battlefield that awaits me somewhere else……!」

Having said that, I close my eyes and log out of the game.

Opening my eyes once more, I can see myself laying on the futon. Once I log in I could see the rays of light coming through the cracks and holes in the sliding door. Based on that I can already tell that there is a group of idiots waiting just outside of the door, thinking that they were in for some easy kills.

「…… Small fries should be around here, I think…… As for the professional Ranker…… they should be around here somewhere……」

Why are they still sticking to a formation like that? Stupid idiots, this kind of login Divine Punishment is so last season. Maybe they all need a little reminder of that.

「Alright, right there!」

「Guah!? W-Why!? How!?」

「It’s been two days since the event started, so I thought that Rankers would have made short work of every small fry about now. So if only the experienced players remained, they would know that this is one of the most probable starting points for the players logging into the events for the first time. Elementary, my dear.」

「Wait a second! Dual wielding event limited weapons…… The mask with the Hanya’s face…… No way! “Matsuribayashi”……!?」

「Huh? Did someone finally gave me a second nickname?」

「Tsk, don’t think that you are going to get away just because your name is well-known……!」

I aimed at the Third Grade Ranker through the sliding door, killing him on the spot. However, the First Grade Ranker was already waiting for me behind his colleague, ready to strike at any time.

Oh well, if that is how they want to play it, I will show them that no strategy here can be foolproof. For instance, the trick to getting out of this situation is to simply kick down the sliding door, so that they would create an opportunity for action.

I looked down at the haori-wearing Shinsengumi player who was now on the ground, trampling the sliding door as they came crashing down. But at the same time I also confirmed to my left and right that there was no reinforcement being on their way here.

「Would you kindly provide the little old me with some information? Do that, and who knows? I might even spare your life if I feel like it.」

「R-Really now……?」

「But only if the information that you have will turn out to be good. Otherwise your head will fly. Literally.」

「P-Pawn shop negotiations…… Oh well, I already knew that surviving for more than two days would have been pretty much impossible under those circumstances.」

Since I have managed to acquire some good information I decided to let the poor sap go for the time being. But the moment he went out of the building, his head was split open by the axe that came flying towards him from god knows where. Welp, better offer a prayer for that one.
