ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 391: Side Story 9 – Upward Compatibility While Looking Up – Part 2

「Kuh…… Damn you, Arthur Pencilgton, you bastard……! So I guess the rumors about you were all true! You really are a fiend that derives joy and pleasure from toying with other people’s hearts!」

When it comes to that, Saiga-0 was unable to retort in any way. That’s because it was more or less true, and it was her who allowed Pencilgton to handle all of the negotiations. And since Pencilgton was really good at it, it would have been foolish to assume that she would not deploy her usual shenanigans here.

「Umm, I mean, this is……」

As for Pencilgton’s negotiation strategy in this particular case, she have entrusted three screenshots to Saiga-0. The first screenshot was the photo of Sanraku holding onto the mechanical Scorpion Gauntlets. The second screenshot was the picture of Sanraku covering himself with the round mechanical shield.

As for the third photo, it was showing……

「Umm, this is…… if you really want to see what is in this third picture, I can show it to you…… But only if you promise to cooperate with the “Wolfgang” Guild……」

「Kuh…… Talk about cunning, that sly fox, the absolute bastard, this is so perfectly planned that it is almost terrifying…… No, this is even worse, it’s like something a professional con artist would conjure…… Ehkem, Ekhem, but I guess that I am a blacksmith at heart as well, you know. Just as Pencilgton was trying her best to think of something, including baiting her with false information about ore mining spots that would be available somewhere deep inside of the forest, the most powerful blacksmith rushes towards Saiga-0.

The look in Inrod’s eyes just now…… It was so fierce that Saiga-0 had to extend the photo before her, almost using it like a shield that would protect her from the blacksmith. That look almost reminded Saiga-0 of her sister whenever someone would mention Nightprowler Luukan in her presence.

「Ah? What the hell is this? This is just a regular sword you got there……」

「T-This is no ordinary weapon. This is a Heroic weapon, one that was broken at one point, but managed to get repaired and awakened to new strength thanks to the process of “rebuilding”.」

「…… “Rebuilding”?」

For a moment out there, there was nothing but silence in the air.

And then, a sigh leaves Imron’s mouth. That sigh was staggering and sounded as if she had trouble breathing. Then that sigh naturally shifts into a moan, and after yet another while that same moan shifts into a scream the pitch of which becomes higher and higher with every passing second.

「Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh……!!!!!!」

At first it was only that blood-curdling scream. But then with each passing second Imron took her own head in her arms and started to rock it back and forth as if she was trying her best to contain something that was deep inside of her from coming out. This rocking started to intensify as well, only to eventually shift into her back rocking back and forth, and then her entire body following suit. Eventually she was yet again back on the ground writhing as though she was in great pain. As Saiga-0 continued to watch her, a thought occurred deep inside of her mind: “I don’t want to have anything to do with this person”. However, even though she was disgusted with the blacksmith’s behavior just now, she had to put her personal feelings aside.

For if the Guild “Wolfgang” wanted to get stronger, they would eventually need to assistance of Mjolnir and its wielder. At least that is what Arthur Pencilgton was saying. And the proof of that conviction of hers could be that she deemed it appropriate to use some of her most precious “Joker” cards as bargaining chips. And that was saying a whole lot about both Mjolnir and its wielder.

But it was at that time that Imron came to a stop all of a sudden, came right back on her feet and grabbed the golden hammer that was hanging from her waist in her hands.

「Gaaah! So frustrating!!!」

With that strange battlecry, Saiga-0 could feel that her armor started to rattle in a strange way. At the same time, she felt as though something was pressing against the muscles around her neck.

It was a sign that she came up with alongside Diale, meaning “Incoming Enemy Attack!” And it was more than enough to send Saiga-0 from a distressed state of mind into a full-blown combat readiness. As a result of that, before Imron was able to take another action, Saiga-0 reached towards her waist for the iron whip that was hanging there.

「BLITZ FORGE!!!」

The moment Imron screamed that, she took something out from her inventory. She struck some scales that seemed to belong to a dinosaur and just threw them directly above and stroke them with a theMjolnir hammer. Then they changed into plastic models with the same primary colors similar to the material that compromised the color painting. And from one of such items, a short sword has been forged.

Imron grabbed a one-handed sword that was generated at a terrifying speed, way faster than any normal player would be able to do that, and he threw it into the shadow of a nearby tree with all her might.

The rushed blade cuts through the atmosphere and flies forward, hitting the small dinosaur that was about to fly to its prey.

「Tsk……!! I guess that the talks will have to wait for some other time! As for now, I shall show you the battle prowess of the Maximum Firepower title holder! Don’t think that you can weasel your way out of it……!」

「This roleplaying is out of control……」

A few minutes later. After intercepting and defeating the incoming monsters, Imron turned towards Saiga-0 and opened up her mouth to speak.

「Alright, I get it. If you have eaten the bait, you might want ot eat up the whole rod as well…… This doesn’t really suit me all that well, but I mean, what can I do…… right? Oh, I hope that I don’t have to say this, but I’m going to receive the appropriate gratification, right?」

「Yes, of course.」

Saiga-0 had a thought at that exact moment: if you fan someone’s flames correctly, they will start spilling information of their own volition without even realizing what they are doing. And this player seems to be just like Sanraku, stubborn to a fault and not all that good at being ones with themselves. …… Then Saiga-0 let out a deep sigh and turned her gaze towards the sky.

「That being said, the scenery that can be seen in between those trees is quite different from what I was expecting…… What is that, exactly?」

「Eh?」
