ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 403: Just Like a Star Falling from the Heavens Part 1
Thank you so much, oh great INVENTORY, but I really think that you should get nerfed sometimes soon. Or not really.
While I lay flat at the cold floor of the INVENTORY, I can finally breathe a sigh of relief here. Then I could finally relax my whole body for the first time in quite a while.
Dangerous, this thing is really dangerous, that bluish-green Crystal Scorpion…… Who would have guessed that it could fire laser shots like that two times in a row? Not me, that’s for sure. It’s clearly cheating, being able to use powerful attacks like that in a row without much intervals between the two shots! It only makes sense that there should be some sort of interval, to reload and to get rid of the excess heat, for example! It’s just romantic! Fucking bastard…… Then again, even if you subtract it all, it was already pretty romantic in here, a scorpion being able to shoot laser beams at you……
「Now then, just how are we going to go about this?」
I managed to escape this hairy situation by using the fifth step to actually climb back up in the air and using the INVENTORY there to escape to safety, but…… This means more or less that if I won’t have a plan here, I will fall to my death and die the very moment I exit the INVENTORY and go back to the real world.
I mean, I might as well wait here for the Critical Speed – Bradion’s – recast time to be over, so it would not really matter all that much…… but the problem would still be that Crystal Scorpion Guy there. If it is a normal monster, it might just lose interest in me before long and go back to slumber after deactivating. But something tells me that this is no mere monster…… Or at the very least its mind would not allow for its own laser to turn its compatriots into dust.
In other words, I cannot rule out the possibility that while I am staying here and waiting for my skills to go off cooldown, the Crystal Scorpion out there is waiting as well, but to fire yet another laser shot at me the moment I decide to go back into the real world. Or rather, I am sure that this is exactly the case here, and that exactly this is going to happen.
However, there are still some matters in here that would need to be clarified.
For example, I know that there is this one new laser Crystal Scorpion, but he might not be the only new species here. And if there were indeed more of them out there, would they act like normal Crystal Scorpions and chase me off the cliff, falling to their death and changing into the pile of materials at the bottom of the mountain? And could it be that every scorpion here can shoot lasers? And if they do, will they form a three line formation and try to gun me down just like that? So many questions here, and so little answers.
But if the answers to be above questions is “Yes” in every single aspect, then I guess that the point of reference here should not be the normal Crystal Scorpion, but rather the Golden Crystal Scorpion.
There is also a possibility that the Laser-shooting Crystal Scorpion is a being that is one of a kind. A sort of Unique individual, just like the Golden Crystal Scorpion. If THAT was the case here, then I really need to try and bring it down in order to obtain materials from it, since they are bound to be rare and of good quality. And there is also this one more thing…… are the Crystal Scorpions of this Crystal Crown treaded as individuals? Or maybe they are a colony? This needs to be verified as well.
Because as I have already managed to establish from my previous experiences, the most dangerous thing about the Crystal Scorpions is their ability to work as a group, and not being afraid to hurt or downright mow down their own comrades in order to make sure that the intruder is going to be disposed of. Friendly Fire is a terrifying of a thing, indeed.
But if it turns out that this is not the case here…… Will this work out? Will I be able to do it?
「It would surely be nice of the Players were able to disconnect at their own discretion whenever they want to……」
There is one more point of concern for me. Upon coming to this exact place, one critical flaw of the Critical Speed – Bradion – became apparent: it was like trying to modify the normal everyday car to suddenly become a drag racer. There are hardly any brakes for this skill and aside from the hard direction turns indicated by the steps, you cannot hope to possibly make any small turns when there would be a need to make them. And this is never a good thing.
Not to mention that this place is probably the worst possible match for my Critical Speed – Bradion –. And if it was the case here, I guess the same truth could be applied to the usual Crystal Cliffs as well back at the old continent.
I mean, the compatibility of the two could not possibly been worse here…… No, wait just a second here. A certain thought just occurred to me, and it was a rather devilish one, I’ll admit. And if it works out here, it may earn me some nice money, possibly in the millions. So why not try it? Worse thing that could happen here is that it won’t work out.
「…… Will I be able to win through tying my own skills down?」
It is certainly worth a go here…… I mean, at the current moment I have nothing to lose here, right?
I mean, I have on me a thing that is without a doubt one of the strongest accessories when it comes to mobility: Levin Trigger / Disaster Hand, so mobility-wise I might actually not be all that handicapped to begin with. Which is a good thing here.
But the hardest thing here to get a hold of will be the possibility of losing my balance in mid-air or on uneven scaffolding.
「Now then, will I be able to apply the battle pattern of the Golden Crystal Scorpion here as well? No, with that laser beam it might actually be impossible for me…… But maybe I should be able to break through it with my skills alone?」
So, with that being said, I guess I now more or less have my battle strategy?
「But I should make a save just in case something goes south, right?」
Unlike the portable housing that the People of the Forest are able to create on the go, the normal Tent items are consumables with a limited amount of times they can be used on the field.
I have three tents on me, and each of them can be used about ten times before expiring, which gives me thirty possible saves. …… But that being said, there is one huge problem connected with this item: is there a safe area somewhere around here? Somewhere where I can set this ting up without the risk of getting killed instantly?
However, if I just continue to meditate about my problems in here, nothing is going to move forward. For this thing to start, I must go back to the real world first. However, when I do that, I am most probably going to be a good hundred meters above the ground, in mid-air.
「Alright, ready or not, I must go!」
Even if I am unsure about all this, as long as my spirit is ready to go, my body is sure to follow! So I smile to myself behind my mask and make a summersault in place……
