ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 417: Side Story 14 – The Landing – Part 2

The Dinosaur monsters, Dracarus Dinotriasix, monsters that seemed to be the a smaller version of Raptors, jump at the two all at once.

On a side note here, the reason why all the Dinosaur-like monsters in this game had such difficult and complex-sounding names was due to the naming sense of the Conquering Doll, but that’s irrelevant here. After all, there was no way that both Katsu and Argent Owl would have any knowledge about that fact.

「「Activate! “Scrap and Build!!”」」

The two activate the same skill at the same time, since both of them possessed the sub-class of Destroyer. Their currently worn equipment shatters on the spot into a myriad of polygons, and when the two step away from one another they both shine with the bright light of strengthening skill coursing throughout their bodies.

「Hmph, since we are facing opponents of such high level…… Whoa there, that was dangerous! What the……!? There are still more of those guys coming!? Are you kidding me!?」

A myriad of loud screams echo throughout the area, and more and more small dinosaurs start to appear, emerging from the shade of the trees, getting up from the grass, and arriving from the distance. And as Katsu directed his first towards the first incoming Dinosaur monster, he expected that even more of them may actually be on their way here.

「Color: Red!」

While Katsu made use of the Monk class’s unique skill “Kenki” and chanted the name of the color that was used to activate the skill corresponding to it, right behind his back there was another battle being waged at the current moment, but this one being quite the opposite in approach to what he had decided. Two different players with two completely different approaches to problem solving.

「Don’t think that just because our levels are not like yours that you are going to have it easy with us……!!」

A close quarters skill that literally turns you into a super meat bullet: “Infight”.

A skill that applies the effect of life steal and life regen everytime you make a physical attack: “Grapple Drain”.

A skill that accelerates the speed and increases the height of the jumps and steps: “Step High Beat”.

A skill that creates a sort of invisible armor around the user’s body, decreasing the damage the user will take from the incoming attacks: “Full Metal Plating”.

And the skill of the sub-class “Pilgrim” that for a set amount of time recovers the user’s health points, as well as increase the user’s health regeneration rate shortly after being dealt damage, with the amount of increased health regen scaling with the damage received: “Journey of Pilgrimage – Pilgrimer –“

So, what would happen if all of the above effects were to be applied to one body at the same time?

「Invalid! Useless! Meaningless! Good for nothing!」

One of the small dinosaurs jump into the air and tries to bit into the flesh around Katsu’s upper right arm, but its jaws were unable to even scrape the player’s skin. In the next moment, the dino was punched from the side and sent flying into the air once more. Then, Katsu grabbed the dino by the neck and slammed it into the ground, all thanks to the empowered state that “Scrap and Build” offered him.

Two other dinos try to jump at Katsu from behind, baring their claws and teeth, but they never managed to reach their mark. Before they even managed to get close, Argent Owl appeared in front of them and delivered a mighty roundhouse kick at them, blowing both of them away and rendering their attack useless.

「This jumping leaves me a little bit dissatisfied, but…… I like it so far! My thoughts move around smoothly, just like I want them to!」

The female fist fighter laughs, even though she managed to get hit in the process a couple of times when it was not her intention. But at the current moment even receiving damage could be turned into advantage.

Her whole body is a mixture of red damage effects at the moment, and there are also effects of the skills, and soft magical green effects of healing. It was creating a truly chaotic mixture of colors.

「Watch out, Argent Owl! Looks like a big one is coming!」

Dracarus Dinokeras. It is known from its horns that are a lethal weapon, but it is more famous as a “triceratops-like monster that uses its huge mass to stampede at it opponents and overpowering them with its sheer mass”.

Recently, there was a new theory that emerged thanks to the survey that SF-Zoo carried out. That the main body of this monster is actually that of a horse and not of a deer that everyone thought so far. But it was actually a useless piece of trivia with little to no use in combat, so let’s leave that aside for now.

「Alright! Hey there! Come on!」

Perhaps it was due to Babel not being able to properly recognize the words belonging to Japanenglish category, but Argent Owl’s provocation did not sounded as intimidating as one might have expected. However, it served its purpose well. The Triceratops lowered its head and started to rush right at Argent Owl.

With every second the Triceratops approaches Argent Owl, running faster and faster, causing the earth to rumble.

「Alright, since it is so massive, I will need to put all of my strength into it, huh?」

She could see someone waving at her in the distance, but at the current moment the only thing Argent Owl was able to see was Dracarus Dinokelas alone. Nothing more and nothing less.

「Hmph! Compared to Cursed Prison…… this much is actually nothing!」

Argent Owl reapplies each skill and magic once again, and then thrown in some additional component into the mix as well.

Magic skill that halves the duration of the process, but actually doubles down on the amount of health points being regenerated, “High Drive Regenerate”.

Magic skill that buffs Strength as the player continues to receive damage, “High Voltage Power”.

Magic skill that directs all attacks downwards as they approach the player, “Stand Gravity”.

When all the preparations for the “interception” are all but done, bright light begins to coat the right hand of Argent Owl.

「Times like this call for shouting out the name of the technique out loud, right!?」

Technically, it was not a skill or technique’s name. It was the name of the new tactic that Argent Owl…… that Silvia Goldberg has come up with as a countermeasure against Cursed Prison. A tactic for the sake of which she has researched many different fighting styles and martial arts.

「Eat this…… Collapse Punch!!」

A clenched fist comes vertically crushing down right onto the Dino Monster’s forehead. For a moment, the body of Argent Owl, whose propulsion was vastly inferior to that of the Dinosaur, was pushed back with a force that would even be enough to stop a truck in its track. However, that was it. Argent Owl was not blown away.

Instead, Argent Owl firmly pressed her feet into the ground, pushing her first further and further into the Dinosaur’s skull, causing it to be pushed back while carving deep crevices in the ground.

「Alright, a clean hit…… Abyah!?」

「Let’s face it! We cannot possibly win this at level ninety!」

Seeing how Argent Owl was struggling against her opponent, after dealing with his own Katsu turned around and started running towards her, screaming that loud enough so that she could understand the kind of predicament they were dealing with here.
