ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 420: Side Story Digest – Disasters Go Around, And People Move Part 1

「Hey farmer! I’ve got a production request for you!」

「Hey, it’s not farmer, but it’s a super farmer for you? That part is super important here.」

「Yeah? In what way?」

「Doesn’t it make you sound strong and important?」

That’s the problem here……? The owner of the information broking company Zenith Guevara lets out a deep sigh, but then he looks at the whole area and a broad smile creeps onto his face.

「I was wondering what that thing might have been…… Damn, am I glad that I have a monopoly on information and I can sell it out exclusively.」

「You might talk big like that, Zeni-chan, even though all the behind-the-scenes work is on me?」

「Ah, yeah. This gal a…… How should I say it? …… A management consultant or something like that?」

「And because it’s an exclusive sale, why don’t we go crazy with it? What’s the harm in doing that?」

The Super Farmer starts to laugh a whole lot, and Zenith Guevara joined in on the laughing purely out of politeness. In a sense, it is a genuine production job that gives the occupation “farmer” a way to make a whole lot of money, but it is actually rare to see players actually taking farming as their main jobs.

One day when Zenith Guevara was browsing through various message boards and forums related to ShangriLa Frontier he happened to come across a post from a guy claiming to be a Super Farmer that managed to find an unknown kind of a crop while going on a stroll throughout the Sea of Trees area in the New Continent. Now, even though everyone on that thread dismissed the possibility of that being the case, Zenith Guevara was paying close attention to the post and secretly contacted Super Farmer and asked for details……And it turned out that his hunch was correct as always.

Plant-Type Monsters…… Or maybe Monster-Type Plants……? The two had idea how to classify them, but the truth is that the “Human Dragora” is the type of NPC that functions basically on the same principles as the Conquest Doll that a certain other player has recently made a contract with. But there was no way for the two to know about that as well.

Therefore, Zenith Guevara started to act as an accomplice of the Super Farmer, and in return he was able to monopolize this information for himself.

「Say, if you are looking to make a profit off of those things, wouldn’t now be the best time to actually announce the existence of those things? You can do that right before the Christmas sale season, so they should sell quite well over Christmas, and you can be sure that the only ones that would come would be the ones willing to pay, since they had no expenses in that time.」

「You say that, but wasn’t the original plan to wait until they are ready so that you could throw them all at once at a certain Colored Dragons? Their numbers should make quite the difference here.」

「IIIIIIIIIYYYAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH……」

「Ah, yeah, that’s right. Thank you, Mandy.」

「How about a glass? That’s a freshly squeezed culverin melon juice, freshly harvested this morning.」

The Super Farmer pointed towards a Power-Type Human Dragora standing right next to him, and then handed Zenith Guevara a wooden cup filled with orange-colored liquid. It looked pretty much like an orange juice, but looked to be somewhat thicker. Zenith Guevara took a careful sip and let the liquid roll around on his tongue for a moment or two.

「Boy, am I glad for that Gourmet Tongue ability.」

「That’s the real thrill of a production job: to be able to eat high-quality ingredients that are the fruits of your own hard labor…… Alright, now it’s the time to handle some rice!」

Zenith Guevara stares at the surreal scene in which he could see the Super Farmer walking through the patches with swaying saplings, caressing their leaves and talking gently to them as if he was handling small babies. It was…… a thing that happened alright.

And now, the large amount of Mandragoras has entered the final adjustment stage, and are waiting in preparation for the day of the upcoming decisive battle. And on that matter.

「…… Looking at it now, this looks like some evil factory and production line.」

「Is that how you see it?」

「How about this!? Twin Swords! Dill Nadia and Mora Vegalta, the unmatched combination of twin swords! I knew it, if we fight it inside of a cave like that, there is nothing that this monster can possibly run off to!」

「Buri, Buri! Nyan, Nyan! What’s wrong!? Are you scared of our military might!?」

Watching the two warriors who came to report noisily and causing the ground to shake, the woman let out a deep sigh. In order to calm her nerves down a bit, she stroke the hilts of the two swords hanging at her waist.

「The White Dragon Bryleinego eats up all the damage herself if you do not hunt the little dragons first, which is why we have fought with our own weapons like that in the first place……」

However, the white dragon Bryleinego suddenly disappeared…… Just like the small visitor foretold it would happen. She also mentioned that she would venture East, to participate in the Dragon Disaster War or something like that.

「The way we see it, Dragons are our pray to hunt, and ours alone, Dragon Disaster be damned! If you have a problem with that, then raise your weapons and we shall settle this dispute like true warrior would!」

That is just their style. If you disagree with the Chief’s policy, the dispute should be settled using weapons, not words. There is no objection to it, and the gazes of all gathered people turned towards the brilliant warrior woman.

「If so, Brave Warriors! Show everyone around here just how great your power can be! Let everyone see it for themselves! Even those who you cannot see! Show them that the Giants…… No, that the Giant Heroes are not going to tolerate the Dragon Disaster any longer! Go East! Go East and avenge your fallen comrades!!」

In response to that a group of Giant warrior let their roars out, causing the air to shake and tremble. They were bigger and mightier than any human could ever hope to be, so the effect was way greater as well.

At this moment, the Giant’s Migration quest was flagged as started and being underway…… And even though no player in particular started it, it started to progress automatically, all on its own.

「My Lord! The sky is scary……! Really, really scary……!」

「Alright, it’s okay, it’s okay…… However, we can’t just let that slide now, can we……?」

It looked like a small chick clinging desperately to the back of the old blind owl. The owl looks up at the night sky with unseeing eyes and senses its surroundings with means other than visual feedback.

They can no longer fly in the sky without any worries. For as long as the dragons are here, they have taken away the great sky and its freedom. And they risk the destruction of their whole tribe should the dragons find them and deem them as “cheeky” for flying in the same sky as them.

Owls may be good at avoiding trees, but there are no trees to be found in the sky.

「Muuh……」

The owl recalls the words of the wingless visitor, the words of the travelling wolves, as they introduced themselves as.

The time for hiding is over, and the wingless ones who emerged from the ends of the sea intend to fight all of the dragons and rid the world of them.

Owls dislike conflicts of any kind, but they are neither good nor evil since they do not possess the power and strength to fight for what they consider right. Because of that, the owls were always dreading the coming of a day when they would be forced to choose a side and fight, which may result in so many of the young ones losing their lives prematurely. The old owl sighs at the thought.

「How about it, little one……? Would you like to have a go at your very first flight entirely on your own?」

「Y-Yeah……!」

––––––Even if those wings might be broken and unable to fly anymore, nothing would be able to break this brave heart.

Even if they are tied to the ground with the weight of fear, there are those amongst them who can still fly, but they are extremely rare. But they are still worth much more than those who choose to crawl on the ground.
