ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 425: Dragon, Oh Dragon! PART 2 Part 2

「And the fact that those Dragons are monsters that are speced out in such a way that even one of them can easily battle and crush all of the players in here does not work in our favor. Imagine that……」

「…… AND there is the fact that all of those monsters are basically Raid Bosses. Combining multiple raid bosses into one encounter is a recipe for a certain disaster. So yes, the situation does not look good, no matter how you decide to look at it.」

The current situation of the players was indeed pretty bleak and desperate. On one hand they were fighting against the Green Dragon Brockentreed, whose attacks are almost exclusively ranged attacks with a large area of effect that do not differentiate between a friend or foe, and the White Dragon Bryleinego, who may not possess as devastating attacks, but who can produce more and more small dragons seemingly without end and without any need for a rest.

It seems that by some strange happening of fate the Colored Dragon are openly hostile towards one another as well. Or at the very least, they are reluctant to cooperate in order to achieve a common goal. This is actually good, for if they are not cooperating and are even prone to attacking one another on regular basis, it give the Players some much needed breathing space and a time to think about their strategy. Good, at the very least a total annihilation by the Dragon is a prospect that is somewhat distant and not imminent for the moment……

「Huh? Say what? What do you even mean by that……?」

「It looks like they are being overrun by monsters that look pretty much like ants.」

「Ah, ants, you say? It looks pretty much like Musou games armies of small fries to me. You know, the likes of which you slaughter by the thousands to provoke the Boss character to come out?」

「It actually feels like the rice that was being washed in the sink, but someone failed in their task of washing it and instead of being ready to cook it was washed away down the drain in its entirety.」

「Right, not to be rude or anything, but I have no idea what that analogy was supposed to mean here, my dear Kyogoku—chan. You want to be put in a punishment game so badly for being incomprehensible?」

「Kuh, are you seriously that dense or what!? It should be easy to understand! Easy! You know! If you want to do something right, you have to do it yourself! And you won’t know about something unless you won’t try it in the first place!」

When faced with a literal tsunami of white dragons and ranged attacks that pack a tornado-like punch, it is really hard to expect that the outcome would be anything else than being blown away or completely obliterated on the spot. Thinking anything else would be something only a complete fool would do.

Although the situation itself seems to be strange and pretty much hopeless in the first place, there must be at least some kind of a way to clear this battle in the players’ favor. After all, it would be weird if there was not any.

And wouldn’t you know it? The members of the guild “Wolfgang” were able to confirm from the top of the New World Research Vessel that the members of the guilds “Black Sword” and “Tempura Knights” were able to put their act together and organize some sort of a joined front against the incoming dragons. It may very well be temporary here, but under those circumstances it was more than admirable that they were able to actually pull that off in such a short span of time.

「Hitting those small dragons with magic attacks seems to be working for now, but I don’t think that they can keep on doing that exclusively over and over. There are way too many enemies out there, and the Magic Casters are bound to be out of MP at some point. So it would be great for them if they actually had a backup plan of some sorts for when that happens. Otherwise the small fries will make a short work of them all.」

At this moment it is easy to say that acting in any sort of daring way would be extremely unwise. They had little to no information and there was no way of them guessing if aggroing the White Dragon or depleting its health bar won’t cause it to shift modes or gain new attack patterns. So, in Pencilgton’s eyes the best possible course of action here would be simply to continue their efforts on taking out the small dragons, just like the joined front was doing for the past couple of minutes.

But then there would be another problem that would need to be addressed as soon as possible: some physical attackers would have to be delegated to lead the charge against the Green Dragon as well.

「…… Could it be that it takes her power from something? Something that we are perhaps unable to see?」

「And isn’t the ground around him starting to become more and more swamp-like? If the Tanks were to step into that, they would get stuck or even…… Ah!」

「…… It seems that some people are already experiencing that on their own, huh?」

A dozen or so players have already got stuck in the swamp and were sinking lower and lower. Before long, they were completely submerged and the only thing that was left of them was the flashy death animation. So it looks like if you get buried inside of the swamp, you are going to be dead in an instant.

The only salvation in here seemed to the fact that the instant death effect would only occur once the player was completely submerged inside of the swamp. So as long as they could avoid that, they could be saved. And fortunately, a vast majority of attackers was only stuck to the level of their abdomens.

「Isn’t it fun to see people being scattered like that and trying so desperately not to die?」

「But I would like for them to be a little more efficient with their attacks. Without that, we won’t be able to learn all that much in the first place. So it would be such a waste if you think about it.」

「Ah, but don’t forget about dropping dead when your time comes, alright?」

To make a long story short, the battle of “Wolfgang” would start only when Akitsu Akane, Noirlind or Siegwurm would finally make an appearance on the battlefield.

Therefore, they had no choice but to just sit and wait for the time being. Even though doing so would cause other players to give them a nasty glare from time to time.

However, this is a story known only to those who are “on it” and know what is going on. But there are those who have little to no concern for things like that.

「Hmph…… So, I guess I will have to kill some time before No-Face decides to show up, right? Then I guess I might as well go and have some fun before that happens!」

Turning around while cracking her knuckles loudly, Argent Owl puts her foot on the edge of the ship.

And before Pencilgton could react and stop her from going, she was already out of the ship, on her way towards the battlefield.

「LET’S GO!!!」

「Say what now?」

But before she was completely gone, she also managed to grab Katsu by the neck and drag him with her.

「Whoa there, now! What gives! Heeey!?」

「Ah, aaaand there they go…… Oh well, not that it matters all that much to us, anyways. But we must get ready for the other dragons to make an appearance as well…… Everyone, stay vigilant!」

Pencilgton then claps her hands and looks back.

「Alright! From this point forward everyone is free to act like they please!」

「Yeah, it’s about time!」

「Oh well, we need to conserve our strength and be in tip-top shape once the main event starts. I don’t know what the two nuclear warheads will bring in with them, but…… For the time being, once Akane Akitsu comes, we shall all meet here once more. As for Sanraku-kun …… Well, he is going to stand out from amongst the crow, so there is no way that he is going to escape my gaze.」

However, there is no point in playing a game if you just going to stand in one place and do nothing. Some people were smiling with bloodlust in their eyes, and some other people were just looking for a way to kill time. And Pencilgton, who was no left on the deck of the ship all alone, let out a deep sigh. And then she laughed. Not in the air, but towards the shadowy figures who were left with her on top of the ship.

「Now then, since it looks like I’m going to have so much free time on my hands…… should I sit back, relax and have a nice drink in the meantime?」

The fourteen outsiders are just standing there, not saying anything to that. It’s as if they were devoid of free will, only being ready to act when someone gave them specific order, not a vague suggestion.
