ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 428: Dragon, Oh Dragon! PART 5 Part 1

The appearance of Siegwrum the Heavenly Emperor, the appearance of Noirlind and shhoting Siegwurm off the sky, and finally the destruction of the tower of the Skull Azuchi Castle…… Those are all pretty great events when you think about it for a moment. However, in the grand scheme of the Dragon Disaster War, it was all nothing more but leaves getting ripped off trees and getting scattered on the wind.

「TSK, WAS MY TIMING A LITTLE BIT TOO EARLY, PERHAPS…… BUT OH WELL, IT DOESN’T REALLY MATTER ALL THAT MUCH. FIRST THING FIRST, YOU ARE GOING DOWN, YOU SENILE OLD FOOL!!」

「GUUUOOOHHH!?!?」

Red Dragon Red Howl. Given the characteristics of every Colored Dragon, this one in particular would be considered the lead actor in this event. And besides, this particular Colored Dragon was very different from all the others, and resembled the genuine dragon the least of all of them.

The closest analogy here would be…… Yes, a “water strider” or “drone”. And if it was not for its clearly reptile head, no one would actually be able to tell that it was a dragon in the first place.

「What the hell is this…… a Jet Injection?」

「No, that’s not it. I guess that his limbs are just naturally long, that’s all.」

「Kuh, fufufu, oh shit, this is actually bad, looking at this thing right now, isn’t it actually pointing towards……!」

First and foremost, the limbs of Red Howl are the most noticeable of its features.

The White Sragon may be a slight exception from that rule, but overall it can be said that that the Colored Dragons have shapes similar in form to the skeletons of various beasts.

However, the Red Howl was different even in that regard. Its shoulders, its elbows, its wrists, its fingertips, its legs and its feet…… Every single part of its body was extraordinarily long. And when it was staying motionless on the ground, it looked like a folded shuriken or other similar-looking item like that. Its appearance was unlike anything that was ever called a dragon, and the only truly “dragon-like” parts about it were its head and tail that was swinging slowly behind its back.

Then next major characteristic that instantly catches the eye of the players are the elongated protrusions that were growing all over its giant body.

Could it be that the role of those protrusions was similar to the way in which a propulsion engine worked? Would they be spitting out fire and flames in the nearby future? Just as the players though that, the protrusions on Red Howl’s abdomen, back, shoulders and hind legs started to activate and actually spit fire from them. What happened next was hard to describe and looked really comical, but it was a thing that was actually happening: Red Howl started to float in the air, going higher and higher with every second. So it actually turns out that those protrusions made it possible for Red Howl to fly in the air even though it had no wings strong enough to support its mass.

Things like that. It is exactly because of things like that that calling the Colored Dragons actual dragons was a huge stretch and was making everyone else feel somewhat awkward and conflicted about it. Because no matter how hard you tend to look at it, those creatures were barely making it to be classified as dragons.

But just because they look strange or weak does not mean that they are indeed weak or unable to hold their own ground in battle.

「Are you fucking kidding me!? Stop screwing with us, you stupid fucking water strider, you asshole!?」

「GYAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! YOU WEAK SMALL FRIES! YOU ARE SO WEAK THAT IT IS NOT EVEN WORTH IT TO CRUSH YOU MYSELF! COME BACK WHEN YOU GROW STRONGER, THEN WE’LL TALK!!」

When it comes to the Red Dragon Red Howl, its fighting tactics are simple and straightforward, to not even say simplistic. It is a tactic that fully utilizes its elongated limbs and natural physique, raising his own torso and main body above the ground where close range fighters were unable to reach it, leaving only the long range fighters a viable solution to deal damage to it. And once its main body is out of reach and safely above the ground, it would use the fire spewing from its long protrusions all over its body to burn those underneath it to a crisp and ash, leaving nothing behind.

「Aaaaaahhhhhh!!! Shut the fuck uuuppp! I don’t wanna hear it!!!」

「No, wait! This is all happening way too fast! No, don’t just blindly rush in! it’s just what this thing wants! It will bait you into charging right into it and it will stay beyond reach all the time! Start with hitting its legs and wait for the opportunity to attack its main body directly! It’s the only way we can hope to achieve something here!」

The only possible way for close range fighters to actually deal damage to Red Howl was through getting close to it and starting to attack its elongated limbs. However, not only those proved to be heat-resistant, but also extremely sturdy and resistant to all types of damage, which was making dealing damage to this beast extremely complicated and inefficient. In other words, the players had no way to efficiently deal damage on their own, while on the other hand they were under constant shower of bright flames and creative insults that the dragon was sending their way without stopping not even for a moment. It was extremely frustrating to admit, but faced with a might powerful foe like that, the players truly felt like nothing else but a bunch of small fries waiting to be grilled and slaughtered.

However, even if the threat posed by the Red Dragon Red Howl was so great, it was not limited to it only. Other dragons were here as well and they would surely not just casually wait for their turn.

「HOW DARE YOU, YOU FILTHY MAGGOTS…… I AM NEVER GOING TO FORGIVE YOU FOR WHAT YOU HAVE DONE!!!」

The Green Dragon Brockentreed lets out a tremendous roar, raising its upper body high in the air while only supporting its entire weight on its hind legs.

Then, according with the physics engine and the laws of gravity, the Green Dragon slammed its two front legs that supported the giant body against the ground…… And at that exact moment,

「COLLAPSING DISASTER!!!」

It looked like a joke, but it was anything but. It is by no means any exaggeration to say that at that exact moment there was a “mountain” that was erected in the middle of the field right before the frontline base, clearly separating the battlefield in two distinct parts.

「BUGUEH!?」

A huge rock mass being erected from down below hits Red Howl directly to the stomach and captures it in place. It was unimaginable feature to accomplish here, seeing that the way in which the Red Dragon was flying was so weird and unlike anything that a normal biological creature would do.
