ShangriLa Frontier 435: Dragon, Oh Dragon! PART 12 Part 1
With the sudden arrival of the Giants “Odin” Clan, the players focused around fighting the White Dragon managed to finally regain their lost momentum and the scales of their battle right now were more or less even.
However, due to various set of circumstances, the entire playerbase opposing the White Dragon had been brought down to the defensive once more and the situation started to look really grim for them once again.
It is largely unclear if the White Dragon Bryleinego had some sort of a program or system that would account for the Giants to participate in the battle against it, but ever since the Giants have joined the fray the size of the smaller White Dragons produced by the main body increased dramatically. Now they were approximately the size of an average human male. Which would actually make at least some sort of sense, judging by the fact that the Giants were at least three meters tall and you would need a substantial power to respond to this threat.
So long story short, the White Dragon’s mass production pattern has undergone a dramatic change here.
「W-Whoa!? Now they are human-sized!?」
「We need logistic support for the Tanks…… You bastards! The way they behave right now…… are they trying to imitate us!?」
「Whoa, whoa, whoa! Wait just a minute! Nobody told us about the dragons increasing in size! And wouldn’t that make them basically Giants as well!?」
The small dragons, which used to be a six-legged creatures crawling on the ground like ants or termites, now stood up on their two hind legs and resumed the invasion just like that, as if assuming a different “role” in that particular moment.
What’s more, it seems that thanks to the Giants’ aid the number of the smaller dragons produced went down a little bit, but in response to that new development even newer kind of small dragon started to appear, this one being almost three meters tall.
No matter how strong or complex counteroffensive the players would mount in here, the White Dragon would always find a way to bring the state of the battle back into a stalemate. The frontline was far from collapsing at this point yet, but the players needed to be constantly vigilant. Only the White Dragon could allow itself to rest and feel relaxed, for it was its power of mass production and “cloning” that was dictating the paced of the battle, not the other way around.
「Oh, wah, ahh…… Oh shit!」
In addition, there are some players who are unable to withstand the ever increasing pressure of the white dragon colony. Those player fall onto their backs under pressure of the tank dragons, and that is the moment when they are done for.
Because right when they fall down on their back, the small dragons surround the poor victim, using their fangs and claws to tore their bodies to shreds, ending their lives in the worst way imaginable.
「W-Wait! Please, wait! Whoa!!!」
One of those players…… His name was Reiji. And fortunately or unfortunately, up until now he had yet to be killed in this game. By some miracle he managed to survive all until this point in the battle against the dragons, even though his stats are nothing all that special.
Therefore, this was going to be his first ever experience of being eaten alive by the creepy monsters that could be best described as dragon zombies. A horrible way to go, but at least it was the one that he could most certainly brag about to others later on.
However, it seems that the Gods were smiling on Reiji all this time and did not wished for him to go down yet. Or at least not in such a grizzly fashion.
「Alright, that’s five more kills, baby!」
Reiji’s entire field of vision, which was being blocked by the mass of white dragon,s was all of a sudden dyed in red and green…… and then there was a single thread of blue that passed by right before his eyes.
Right after that blue thread passed him by, all of the five dragons that were eating away at him drop down on the ground and die. Then they shattered into a myriad of white polygons that exploded and fell slowly fell down like flakes of fresh snow.
「Yo, are you alright? Still alive? Still with us……?」
「Y-Yeah, thanks to you. You have saved me there…… Huh? What the……!?」
The player standing before Reiji was a woman. That woman was holding a straight sword in her hands, a sword with a two and a half blades in colors of red and blue, making it look like a jewel that was actually turned into a weapon. The sight was actually so surreal here that Reiji could not help it but to stare at it for quite some time.
Even though she was wearing a helmet with a mask on her face, there was no way that Reiji, a healthy young man currently going through the middle of puberty, would not feel nervous and restless when a young woman would approach him in such an intimate way. Especially since even through the armor Reiji was able to tell that the woman’s proportions were quite nice and above average.
The voice of that seemingly female player was also that of a woman, so there was no way for Reiji to be suspicious about it in any way or form. And the fact that a player like that, such bejeweled queen was approaching someone as plain and ordinary as Reiji of her own free will……
「…… Hm? Have we met somewhere before? Say, you…… weren’t you in Secandil around the Summer vacation time? You know, together with your girlfriend, female friend or whatever……?」
「…… Eh? Wait a minute…… S-Sanraku? S-Sanraku!? No way…… Is that you……!?」
「Ooohhh! Yeah, I thought as much! Seriously, though! How bizarre for us to be meeting one another in a place like this? And with the circumstances being the way they are? Yeah, after all…… One should never really underestimate the Randomly Generated Numbers when it comes to meeting new people in games and in real life…… Seriously, though! You really saved my ass out there, you know? Without your help, I would not be able to get to town in time! So thanks a lot for that! You helped me out even though I was a complete stranger to you!」
A mysterious female player then grabs Reiji’s arm and starts to shake it in a powerful manner. It was a really weird and really awkward handshake…… And as it turned out, that person was none other than Sanraku, otherwise known as “That Person” or “That Player”.
「No, but wait…… Wasn’t Sanraku a male character……? What the hell is going on here……?」
「Ahh, you mean this form? That’s actually easy part to explain. It’s thanks to the item that allows you to change your gender when you use it. You can get one of those as a reward for clearing the questline connected to the Unique Monster Kutanid of the Abyss.」
