ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 437: Dragon, Oh Dragon! PART 14 Part 1
* * *
To tell the truth, both Katsu and Argent Owl were also participating in the battle against the White Dragon Bryliengeo.
However, even though they were in the same battle, their current position was exactly the opposite of that of Sanraku’s. So if the White Dragon was the epicenter of its battle area and Sanraku was at its East edge, then Katsu and Argent Owl were struggling against the small dragon at the Western edge.
「Somehow, I can already tell that someone very familiar to us is currently right at the opposite side of this battlefield. And I don’t even have to look there to be able to tell that……」
A woman going all over the place, slashing the white dragons left and right. Another person flying about in an armor that looks like a dragon. A small Bunny that was sticking closely to that dragon armor. Taking all of that into account the result could only point at one particular person, without a shred of a doubt.
「It’s Sanraku…… Or maybe even Sanraku times two? Talk about a nightmare fuel right there.」
Thinking about that possibility Katsu let out a silent moan unintentionally. Just the thing they needed in this game, Sanraku proliferating without any form of control or supervision. It would be nice if the developers could step in at some point and address this issue, but even if they were to do so, it would certainly not be now of all times. So the only thing Katsu could do here was to let another sigh and focus on the tasks at hand, culling down the small white dragons as they continued to approach them.
「…… Right so for the time being, let’s just assume that every party needs to have someone unique like that in it, especially since my current partner is just like that…… am I right?」
Well beyond Katsu’s line of sight, there is a sword rampaging throughout the battlefield, a sword which was almost as huge as the Giant that was using it…… If he heard it right, the name of the swords should be something like “Theatre Sword Moralta”. And according to Argent Owl’s prior words, she was getting really bad vibes from that sword. Faced with that, Katsu had no other way but to let out yet another sigh.
「I will let you know that I am the best player in the entire United States! So you’d do best to remember that and maybe try to get along with us, huh!? Or at least try not to get in our way……!」
However, even though both Argent Owl and the female Giant were doing a splendid job at cutting down the small dragons, they were even more invested in other kind of battle: a fierce argument contest between each other. And they would continue to argue no matter what, no matter just how dire the situation around them would seem to get.
「LIKE! I! SAID! I am the one who is a better fighter! Even if my weapons get crushed or shattered, or I was forced to destroy them myself, I won’t ever give up! I still have my first to carry me through battle! Plus, I have the will of my ancestors fueling my fighting spirit!」
「What are you, stupid or what!? What sane person would go and destroy their own weapons!? Weapons are the user, and the user is the weapons! They are one and the same! So why would you……!!」
To make a long story short, Giants seem to treat their weapons as their partners and companions, someone as equally important as them. So it would be understandable that in their eyes Argent Owl, a person who was breaking to pieces a weapon after weapon was someone who was just insane, or at least muscle-brain who lacked any form of common sense.
To be perfectly honest, Katsu was on the same page as Argent Owl when it comes to that particular discussion. It is a common sense that the role of any Damage Per Second-type of character is to do just that: to dish out tons of damage. And if getting that Damage Per Second means either swinging your weapon or crushing it to pieces, that is none of his concern. However, since Katsu got a pretty good hunch that this argument was only going to keep on escalating and that it would not end up pretty, he chose to remain silent and watch the situation as it develops from the safety of the sidelines. Plus, there is also the possibility here of getting targeted by the White Dragon itself, so he would like to avoid that as well, since he was not that good of a Tank and all.
「Hey, you two! It seems that there are some people over there who are going on quite a rampage! See how the White Dragon’s aggro has shifted from this place to over there?」
「Hmm, that’s the place where Phione is, huh……? Who would have thought that she alone would be able to get the attention of the White Dragon like that……?」
「Oh my, the big lady over there? Do we want to set a ticket selling booth and gather as big of an audience as possible? Just so we could net some neat profit off of it?」
Hearing the way in which Argent Owl started to provoke the other party, Katsu let out a long sigh once again. It seems that none of the sides of the conflict would want to step down, which was not that good of a thing at all.
In a nutshell, Silvia Godberg has a very idol-ish type of personality. She can be all sweet and pure and polite when facing the media and her fans, but truth is, deep down inside she is rather competitive and sometimes her fighting spirit can cloud her judgment quite a bit. And right now that personality of hers was showing in full display.
When faced with someone who would not stimulate her fighting spirit, she would be all nice and sweet and pure to a fault, but once she meets someone with whom she can compete with, her personality would change as if you flipped a switch, and she would become competitive and unforgiving. However, Katsu always thought that this rule could only be applied to human opponents. He never would have thought that a mere NPC would cause Silvia to become that way. Guess that you learn something new everyday, huh?
「…… Oh well, I guess that no profit for us this time around, huh? Oh well, let us go then.」
「Ah!! There you are! Umm, oh yes! The catcher one!」
「Whoa there! Wait a minute! What the hell was that supposed to mean!?」
Although this current remark was pretty rude, there was one thing that was sure about it: it was a remark that was way too loud for something that Sanraku would normally say and it was something that was not nearly malicious enough for Pencilgton to come up with. Looking back, the one to say those words was a person brandishing a huge and futuristic assault lance and wearing the Non-Standard Armor from the series “Raging Waterfall”. With the equipment like that, that person was easily repelling numerous small dragons all by herself……
