ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 443: Dragon, Oh Dragon! PART 20 Part 1

「FUAHAHAHAHAHA!!! SUPERB!!! OHH, THIS IS TRULY SUPERB!!! WHAT A BRIGHT BRILLIANCE!!! IT’S A BURNING HEAT THAT BURNS MY EYES!!! THIS BRILLIANCE IS LIKE A DAZZLING TREASURE!!! GOOD!!! GOOD!!! THIS IS IT!!! THIS IS THE KIND OF FLAME THAT I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR ALL THIS TIME!!! A STRONG AND BRIGHT LIGHT OF A HERO THAT ATTRACTS OTHERS TO IT AND OFFERS GUIDENCE TO THOSE WHO HAVE LOST THEIR WAY!!! YOU HAVE PROVEN BEYOND ALL DOUBT THAT YOU ARE INDEED THE KIND OF A HERO THAT OTHERS CAN LOOK UP TO!!! FUAHAHAHAHA!!! FUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!」

The golden dragon was laughing. It was quite easy to imagine that seeing the players struggle and writhe like ants on the ground he could ridicule and mock them however he pleased, especially since he was soaring so high in the sky, looking down on them. However, the golden dragon was laughing. And it was the kind of a laugh that was devoid of all negativity and bad emotions, expressing only pure joy and nothing else.

「OOOHH…… OH, HUMAN!!! YOU ARE INDEED A TRUE HERO!!! AND LIKE EVERY TRUE HERO, YOUR ROAD IS GOING TO BE RIDDENED WITH HARDSHIPS! ESPECIALLY UPON THEIR RETURN!!! NOW SHOW ME!!! PROVE TO ME THAT YOU CAN DEFEAT THE COLOR STANDING ABOVE ALL ELSE!!! SHOW ME THAT YOU HAVE THE POWER NECESSARY TO DEFEAT ME!!! NOW IS THE TIME TO MAKE A STAND!!! OH, BRAVE HERO!!! WHAT IS YOUR ANSWER GOING TO BE!?」

「If that’s the case, then don’t mind me borrowing your chest for a moment!!!」

Once again, Akitsu Akane jumped off Noirlind’s back and onto Siegwurm’s chest.

Attacks using Magical Power as their source…… In other words, even if you were to use the Dragon’s Breath here against Siegwurm, which is every dragon’s most powerful attacks able to settle fights in an instant, it would have been blocked completely and no damage would be dealt. But if it’s an attack that originates from Physical Power, like the attacks with Noirlind’s giant body, there was no reason for them to be blocked and they should be able to affect the Golden Dragon without fail.

「AKITSU AKANE! DO IIITTT!!!!!!」

「Yes, sir! Umm, let’s see…… just a little bit to the right from the throat, was it……?」

「HOU, FINALLY TAKEN A STEP TOWARDS TOUCHING MY REVERSE SCALE, HAVE YOU? HOWEVER! DON’T YOU THINK EVEN FOR A MOMENT THAT A BLADE AS HALF-HEARTED AS THIS WILL BE ABLE TO REACH ME! AND IT WILL CERTAINLY NOT BE ENOUGH TO KILL ME!!!」

Siegwurm the Heavenly Emperor’s reverse scale. This is the only creation flaw that the Golden Dragon King possesses. A single scale that is significantly weaker than every other one growing on its body. Such was the price that Siegwurm had to pay for obtaining the wisdom of the Gods, as those things never come without an according price.

Normally such a thing would be both a blessing and a curse for any living being, but in case of Siegwurm, the kind of all the dragon, it is something that can be considered to be only but a slight inconvenience. This only goes to show just how powerful he really is.

However, it is something that is being based on the human being the attacker. But as luck would have it, Akitsu Akane literally had dragon claws and teeth on his side right about now, which were much more powerful than any human would ever hope to be.

「Here! It should be right here!!!」

「NOW DIE ALREADY!!!」

「NUOOOHHH!?」

Akitsu Akane may not look like it, but he is actually a pretty good observer. And his job right now was nothing more but to be able to locate Siegwurm’s reverse scale and inform Noirlind about it right away. And since Siegwurm has been so obsessively focused only on humans for a past while, he was unable to perceive Noirlind getting closer to him, way too close for comfort. Because of that, the Black Dragon was able to sink its fangs into Siegwurm’s golden throat right now. And it most certainly would not have been possible if it was not for the two huge explosions that took place below them on the ground.

「GUUH, NUUUOOOHHH!? WHAT IMPUDENCE!!!」

「GUUUAAAHHH!?」

However, Noirlind’s fangs have struck not only the inverted scale, but also the normal ones as well, becoming stuck in them for just a moment. And Siegwurm, after regaining his composure after that sudden surprise attacks, clenched his hand into a fist and hit Noirling with a mighty hook square to the cheek.

「ARE YOU TRYING TO MAKE ME ANGRY!? WITH AN ATTITUDE LIKE THAT, YOU HAVE NO HOPES OF ACTUALLY BEING ABLE TO WOUND ME AT ALL!!!」

「I WILL SAY IT AS MANY TIMES AS IT TAKES HERE!!! YOU ARE GOING TO BE ONE WHO IS GOING TO BE DEAD AT THE END OF THIS, SIEGWURM!!!」

Noirlind then gathers his breath and releases his Black Dragon Breath as close to Siegwurm as possible, filling his entire vision with nothing but black flames and smoke, covering his whole body with raging fire.

While the last remnants of Noirlind’s Dragon Breath were still smoldering around Siegwurm, creating a sort of a smoke screen, Noirlind himself used that opportunity to close his distance towards Siegwurm once more. In his eyes there was a bright fire of determination.

「Ugh…… Being immune to magic attacks surely is a nasty ability to fight against……!」

Barely managing to cling to Siegwurm’s back, Akitsu Akane whispers that while doing his best to shield himself from the waves of magical Dragon Breath that were having normal effect on him, unlike the Golden Dragon King who looked generally unfazed here.

When all is said and done, it can be said that Siegwurm’s ability to nullify magic attacks, a.k.a special skill “Shining Dragon King Tupac = Amal”, is like covering oneself with a coat of paint that is so thick and dense that nothing of magical origin is going to be let through it.

To get into more details of this ability, the way it was designed to work is for the Golden Dragon King to coat himself with his own mana particles, which serves to nullify any interference of the mana particles that do not fall under Siegwurm’s direct control.

However, even though this form initially seems to be immensely powerful, it has two basic weaknesses that prove to be fatal.

One of those weaknesses is that the attacks performed by the use of physical skills are particularly effective here, since Siegwurm cannot use that defensive skill together with his “Madness Area”, his skill debuffing power. Siegwurm, the Heavenly Emperor might operate on a different principle than Kutanid of the Abyss, but he is basically subject to the same restrictions.

And then there is the second weakness. Even though Seigwurm can nullify the magic interference coming from the outside source, he is still perfectly vulnerable to the “physical interference” which was buffed with magical processes to begin with.

And it just so happened that there is a certain group of equipment that has a function just like that installed in it by default!
