ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 445: Dragon, Oh Dragon! PART 22 Part 2

「WE HAVE CONFIRMED THE SUBJUGATION OF THE RED DRAGON “RED HOWL”. THE PLAYER IDENTIFIED TO HAVE DEALT THE LAST BLOW: “KUSA MOCHI”.」

And with that system announcement, a load cheer and roars come out of the players’ mouths. Finally they have managed to bring down one of the colored dragons, a feat that is bound to bring all of them closer to fruition of their original goal here. This boosted the morale of not only the players, but the NPCs that were present as well.

Some of the players were so lost in their momentary celebration that the small white dragons managed to get to them and bring them down, but it was not something other needed to concern themselves with. What was important right now was the fact that one of the dragons is dead, and the players fighting it could divert their attention somewhere else. The only question that remained here was: what dragon should be targeted next? It needed to be decided before the players would go their own way without coordinating anything.

「Oh my gosh, that took like, forever to accomplish! So, what should we do next, Leader……? Umm…… Leader?」

「He took it…… Fucking asshole just went and took it…… It must have been on purpose…… Kusa Mochi, you fucking asshole……!!!」

「「Kusa Mochi…… Kusa Mochi…… Kusa Mochi……」」

「Hey! Whoa there, whoa! Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here, shall we!? Battles like that tend to be a total cluster fuck, as you yourselves might have seen! So getting a Last Hit in is like a lottery in such a mess! You can’t possibly pin it on someone that they have intentionally hogged the last attack all for themselves!」

「It’s all well and good if it was meant as a joke, but putting that aside for now…… One of the Colored Dragons have finally fallen. Now, if his expectations are correct and are something to go by here……」

Saiga-100 looked up to the sky while muttering that. Up there, up above was the place where the Gold Dragon, Black Dragon and a small red bird all danced together…… And with the death of the Red Dragon Red Howl, surely the “decisive phase” of the battle was one step closer of dawning upon the players.

「…… Akitsu Akane!」

「Yes! Just leave it to me!」

Instead of a ray-like breath, Siegwurm’s Dragon Breath was like that of a cannonball, which make it a little easier to avoid, but it was still extremely dangerous. Rust inside of Suzaku was doing her best to get closer to the Golden Dragon as safely as she could, but Akitsu Akane was shaking and swaying in her grasp all this time, especially when there was a need to avoid Siegwurm’s fist that was coming their way.

「I’m sorry, but I’m going to borrow your back again for a while!」

「KUKAKA, HONEST TO A FAULT, AREN’T YOU? BUT I WONDER NOW, CAN YOU REALLY KEEP UP WITH MY MOVEMENTS?」

「Waaah!?」

「…… Tsk.」

The assumed posture with the wings spread widely is a preliminary movement that heralds the wings that are going to start flapping powerfully before long. And as long as Siegwurm was here and was as powerful and mobile as until now, it could not be overlooked, otherwise it could result in Noirlind being sent towards the ground once more. Thinking how to avoid that scenario from happening, Rust speaks up to the machine she was piloting.

「Suzaku! Now, let’s do it!!」

「ROGER THAT. “ARAHABATAKI”, LAUNCHING SYSTEMS NOW!」

Triggered by the voice command and the user’s will, the systems inside of the Mecha that made Suzaku “Suzaku” started to move and work with full force.

The wings of the machine, the ones that should normally only serve as a main booster, lit blaze with bright fire. It was the result of the “Arahabataki” system now coming online, a system that activates all at once a few hundred sub-boosters installed in the mechanical fathers of the machine. Normally, it was a system that would not be operated unless there was a very good reason to overload the whole frame to such extent.

「OOOHHH, COULD THIS BE……!!!」

「…… Now, shut up and behave for a moment!」

Then a second system comes offline, called “Arahabane Burning”. It is a system that converts the flames that were raging in all directions into a pure attack power instead of focusing on altitude and mobility.

Spreading its fiery wings wide apart, Suzaku stops for a single moment and then launches itself at Siegwurm. The Holden Dragon tries to avoid its opponent, but then it happened. Another sniper attack from the ground, matched perfectly in time with Suzaku’s charge, intent at locking Siegwurm in place and preventing him from escaping.

「The fire at the very tip is usually the hottest, so you’d better watch out for that……!!!」

「GOOOOOOHHH!!!!!!」

The wings swayed with a roar and growl similar to that of steel blades. The tip of the flame wing is shaken as it files forward and tries to cut through Siegwurm’s neck, their firepower so string that even the Golden Dragon surely felt it.

「Not, done, yet……!!!」

Suzaku’s wings, which responded to Rust’s unreasonable intentions, spew fire in the opposite direction. Originally, the flame wing that spun on the spot forcibly hits Siegwrum for the second time instead of only one, when he reversed in mid-air and tried to put a certain distance in between them.

「Whoa now, it’s freaking hot!」

「Deal with it. That’s what guts are for.」

「Kyiii, r-right!」

「OOOHH, THE ROAR OF THE FLAMES FROM THE DISTANT PAST. A POWER BORN NOT FROM NATURE, BUT FROM HUMAN WISDOM! GOOD, GOOD! SHOW ME MORE OF THAT BRILLIANCE!!!」

「Kuh……!!」

Under the cover of the helmet and its visor, Rust’s expression was turning extremely sour. She managed to avoid Siegwurm’s claws, she managed to avoid the whips of his long tail, and her flaming wings allowed her to even out-maneuver Siegwurm’s Dragon Breath.

“Arahaba Burning” certainly is powerful. However, at the same time when you power is increasing, it becomes increasingly harder to maneuver in mid-air and steer the robot in the direction you want it to go.

「I see, this could certainly be classified as a “stain on the wall” for sure”……」

Rust had to wonder now: could this be how this whole “Overflow” state that Sanraku keeps on talking about feels like? Thinking about it for a moment, Rust dives slightly in order to avoid another one of Siegwurm’s attacks.

No damage is necessary here right now. She just needs to knock it back a little bit just to keep Siegwurm more or less in the same place.

It was at that time that the Red Dragon Red Howl collapsed.

「–––––– MUH.」

Siegwrum stops for a single moment, and even though he was a humanoid, he moved his long neck down to cast his gaze downwards……

「THERE IT IS…… AN OPENING! I’LL BE TAKING THAT!!!」

「Hey, why the hell am I involved in this as weeeeeellllll……!?!?!?!」

「Wait just a –––––– Ahh, geez!!!」

In that moment Noirling came crushing down onto Siegwurm from above, sinking his teeth into Siegwurm’s neck once more and starting to drag the Golden Dragon towards the ground.

And Rust also fluttered her wings and started to come towards the earth in response to Akitsu Akane’s cry, since he was being dragged towards the ground as well because he was still clinging to Siegwurm’s back.
