Just then, a golden circles is released around Siegwurm’s body. That ring allowed some players to stay within it, and expunged all the rest of the players for some reason. Seeing something like this, the fox-faced ninja started to think feverishly.

「Noirlind-san! You must have hit your head quite bad when you were falling down! Are you alright!? Please, answer me!」

「GUH, OOOHHH…… YOU UTTER FOOL…… SOMETHING LIKE THAT IS NEVER GOING TO BE ENOUGH TO FINISH ME OFF……!!!」

Noirlind staggered back after being kicked straight to the throat by Siegwurm. Seeing that, Akitsu Akane strengthened his resolve and started to activate a skill after skill in order to empower his body from within. Then he finally cut his finger and after making a few hand seals activated one of his ninjutsu techniques.

「Secret Sword Technique: “SPARK FLOWERS” – TSUISO NO HIBANA!!!」

POM! POM! POM! There were small fox fires appearing all over Akitsu Akane’s body with a relaxing sound. Then they all shot forward, aiming towards Siegwurm with a slow and irregular, but undisputed trajectory. And as long the one who activated the spell would continue to look at Siegwurm, the spell would not be broken and it was sure to hit its mark.

「AN ATTACK OF THIS SCALE IS NOT GOING TO BE OF ANY USE!! SO WHY BOTHER WITH IT!?」

Each of the small fireballs that were flying towards SIegwurm starts to move around entirely on their own, just like a scurrying mouse would behave. And sure enough, the larger fireballs land onto Siegwurm’s body and burst in a chain explosion, followed by the smaller ones reaching their target as well. This also managed to trigger the effect of the “Shiranui Buds”, which possessed an extra condition of “using fire besides the larger fireballs”. As a result, the fireballs turned into beautiful blossoms that started to radiate waves of intense heat. Released all at once, it was bound to create a destructive force that one had to reckon with.

「Then in that case I am going to keep on repeating that until it finally works! I…… I’m not going to give up that easy!!!」

Akitsu Akane brandishes his dagger and then moves forward. Right about now Siegwurm was forced to stand on his hind legs, not to mention that a dragon like him was far less mobile on the ground than he would be up in the air.

Seeing Siegwurm’s tail coming his way, Akitsu Akane jumps in the air, activates the skill “Hermes’s Boots” and continues to run through the air. Right about now, he was in the range where he could reach the Golden Dragon with his short blade if he wanted to.

But just to be on the safe side, Siegwurm raised one of his arms and fell his fist right on top of Akitsu Akane, intending on catching him in his iron grip. Once he would do that, he would simply have to bite his head off in order to be done with it……

「MUG…… A WOODEN LOG!?」

「How do you like that!? It’s my Auto Substitution Jutsu!」

“Ninja” is a hidden job that one can unlock after developing enough in the “Thief” job. And one of the Ninja’s basic skills is Hidden Sword Art “Substitution Jutsu”, a skill that can be learned fairly early, allowing the user to avoid damage or death. At first it needs to be activated once a certain conditions are met, but with enough proficiency in using it, those limits go away and the skill unlocks its true potential.

Strictly speaking, this skill is not really fully auto. There are two condition for this skill to be activated: one is that the player must be aware of the attack that comes their way. The other one is that the player need to be aware of the skill being activated. Then, even if both of your hands are occupied, the skill would activate just fine and without problem. This makes this skill extremely useful and extremely OP.

「And I knew that my attack power is not enough here. But you know what……?」

「OUT OF MY WAY, SCUM!!!」

「Noirlind-san!?」

While Akitsu Akane managed to get the attention of Siegwurm, Noirlind regained his composure and jumped in between the while bending its jet-black body, lounging onto the Golden Dragon without fail and with all of his might.

「GUH…… EVEN SOMETHING LIKE THAT WON’T BE ENOUG TO STOP ME……!!!」

「TO THINK THAT A BEAST WOULD DARE TO IMITATE A HUMAN! WHAT UTTER FOOLISHNESS……!!!」

「…… Humans are not your playthings! You may think that you can toy with us, but if a great predator treats us like a tool to pass his boredom, we would surely die because of that!」

「NUGUOOOH!?」

There is an arrow that is shot through the air that flies towards Siegwurm and managed to lodge itself in one of his eyes. It was a Magic Arrow, and the shooter waited for the perfect opportunity to shoot it towards Siegwurm precisely when its golden aura was lifted. Also, getting shot in the eye was enough to cause Siegwurm to stagger and become immobile for a single moment, all part of the special effect connected to mutilation of body parts.

And seeing Siegwurm in such a state, Noirlind jumped right at this opportunity to attack, getting ready to release his Dragon Breath.

The dark flames that are being released swallow Siegwurm whole, burning and baking its body mercilessly.

「CHEAP TRICKS!!! NOTHING BUT CHEAP TRICKS!!!」

「TSK!!!」

The golden wings hit the air and disperse the black flames. What’s more, on top of getting rid of Noirlind’s Dragon Breath, Siegwurm was still showing mighty fighting spirit, as if the Black Dragon’s attack did not even managed to scratch him in the least. On the contrary, his scales were shining even brighter than ever before.

「…… I knew that this bastard would be tough nut to crack, but this is something else, indeed.」

「Rust-san! If you are hear, then what about that Mecha from before……」

「Left in resting mode, recharging its batteries.」

「Talk about being Eco-friendly!」

For a moment out there there was a stalemate. However, it was more than enough. It lasted for about ten seconds or so, and in this time the rest of the Pioneers managed to traverse the golden gravitational sphere and converge at Siegwurm’s location.
