「What’s this!? New strengthening effects from Skull Azuchi Castle? What are its effects? Is it going to help us? Is it any good? A pack like that surely has to have a great value, right?」
「A whole bunch of effects that that seem like no big deal and…… What’s this? Some crappy HP regeneration……? No…… Ahh, I see. HP regeneration of varying value taking place at set time intervals? Interesting, interesting……」
「Holy shit…… This shit is not fair, no matter how you look at it…… What the hell is this even? Is that some sort of a cheat? Is that even allowed during an important battle like that? Isn’t that a little bit overpowered? We are at clear disadvantage here, thank you very little……!」
Pencilgton started to mutter under her nose, but she was doing that so loud and with so much anger in her voice that everyone around here were able to her quite clearly, every single word. Pencilgton then raises her head and casts a glare filled with hatred, rage and contempt at the Skull Azuchi Castle. And just like before in case of the Red Dragon Red Howl, the Skull Azuchi Castle was right now wrapped in a bright and warm glow. And surely enough, it was that exact glow that bestowed another portion of buffs onto the players around the field. And the content of those buffs turned out to be quite a nasty surprise for some players out there.
The contents of the current batch of the buffs is said to be aimed at those who are locked in combat with the Black Dragon Noirlind, but in reality it turns out that even those of the players who are facing other enemies than the Black Dragon himself are able to benefit from it quite well. And depending what kind of the player you are and what is your current level and equipment, the content of those buff is something that would make your eyes grow as wide as saucers, or whistle in admiration or even grab your head in disbelief. But whether or not you believe what your eyes are showing you, the truth is that is it all right there, all ready for the taking and for the players to make a good use out of it.
That, and there is one more thing here –– the buffs bestowed upon the players by the Skull Azuchi Castle make it seem as though the frontline base had to break out all of its precious resources to make a thing like that happen. So it would all go without saying that with buffs like that the players had to do their very best as well, to make a tremendous sacrifice like that count. Losing now would only mean that the top quality buffs went all but to be wasted.
「So? What are we going to do now, Leader? Are we going to adopt the Hit and Run battle tactic? Or maybe we go and do something else entirely? Surely we have more than a few options available to us at the current moment, don’t you think? With buffs like that and all that other stuff.」
「Adopting a Hit and Run battle style here might not be all that bad of an idea, but…… Let me think for a moment. At the current moment we have so many tools and resources to play with that I must think how to optimize it all to the fullest. It would be a god damn shame not to optimize in the best possible way. Or rather, I would not forgive myself for doing things half-assed way and regretting not going all-out.」
At the current moment, both Pencilgton and Katsu were fighting against the Green Dragon Brockentreed, and were nowhere near the battlefield on which Noirlind was clashing with Siegwurm in mortal combat. Pencilgton was here of all other places because of two main reasons; one of them was to collect the remaining Human Mandragora soldiers or what was left out of them. Her second goal was to simply try to obstruct the efforts of the Anti-Noirlind faction and make their lives as difficult as she possibly could. As for Katsu, he had his own reason for being here of all places: he was on the lookout for Argent Owl, who was currently…… somewhere around here. Or at least he hoped that was the case. It was really hard to keep up with this girl, and for some reason only known to her she decided to keep on altering her attention between the Green Dragon and the White Dragon respectively. So while she was somewhere out there on a rampage, Katsu decided that it would be best to keep staying in one place. She was bound to pop up here sooner or later.
And although at the current moment both Pencilgton and Katsu’s objectives could not have been more far apart and different from one another, it goes without saying that the final goal for both of them was one and the same. So in light of that fact it would have been weird for them not wanting to cooperate with one another. And it would have been even weirder if they were actively trying to get in one another’s way. So they were fighting together.
「Even if there is no other members of the top guilds out there to take care of commanding them, there are still those pesky little Tempura Knights that you have to consider, but the advantage they are bringing with them is not all that large to begin with…… Still, it would be great to have something that could negate the buffs from the Skull Azuchi Castle, or something else like that…… Say, Katsu-kun? I have a two or three tricks up my sleeve that might help us even the odds in here, but they are pretty evil to begin with. Would you like to hear me out? Surely it won’t bother to at least listen, right?」
From time to time, Katsu was forced to look at Pencilgton and cast her a glare filled with scorn and doubt. It was tedious task, but one that needed to be done nonetheless. Otherwise, if Pencilgton was to be left unsupervised, she would surely decide to turn towards evil and cause more chaos and destruction than it was worth it. Truly, an attitude worthy of a Demon Lord.
That being said, if there was a way right now to do something that would only end up becoming a huge bother to Sanraku and Katsu exclusively, then you can be sure that Pencilgton would have already done it without a moment of hesitation.
However, it is also true to say that the way they are right now, the guild “Wolfgang” is not the best suited for any kind of “unhealthy” gameplay. And it was not only the opinion of the outside onlookers, but the members themselves.
Also, it was an important matter to consider: why would a woman who had a track record of ruining the lives and games of her allies on a regular basis stop doing just that? Was that some sort of a change? Turning a new leaf, perhaps? No…… thinking about things like that won’t bring anyone in here any good. So it’s best to just leave it like that and be done with it.
