ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 451: Dragon, Oh Dragon! PART 28 Part 1
Let us go back in time for a little bit.

「I was wondering, but Lady Saint, could it be that…… you are the type who gets easily bitten by the bugs?」
「Excuse me……?」
If the Lady Saint does not have some sort of unique affliction like that, then I guess that both Joset and the White Dragon really do have something in common. Or even more than they think. Because it seems that Lady Saint automatically ends up attracting all kinds of people towards herself without even realizing that fact……
「Shit, maybe that is why I get a feeling that people keep on targeting me so often these days!」
I would like to believe that theory, but even I find it to be strangely unbelievable. Now, onto the matters regarding the Lady Saint. Could it be that this is once more a quest correction? Or was it perhaps just the tip of the iceberg, a sign of something much bigger to come? In fact, I would not be surprised at all if in just a little while all of the small dragons were to start targeting only the Lady Saint.
The terrain advantage in here is such that fortunately enough it would be hard for us to get easily surrounded, but I expect that once we start walking, after getting forward about five meters we will be jumped by about ten enemies over and over again. Pretty fucked up encounter rate, ain’t that right?
「Sigma, for now protecting the Lady Saint is our top priority…… Or wait. Do be mindful of your own safety as well. It’s not a matter that is worth getting destroyed over.」
「Roget that. Order change: use currently equipped armaments in order to protect the currently designated target.」
Perhaps it is the fault of the passage of time, or maybe it’s simply that even more players are focusing on it, but the field was no longer ridden with small White Dragons. The currently battling players must have been doing a pretty good job at weeding them all out. But this also means that the small fries that appeared at first are nowhere to be seen anymore, and the ones that are left are only the new and refined ones. Which means that now we only have humanoid dragons to deal with.
And while the players should have already gotten accustomed to the way in which those monsters move about and fight, there were so newer players who were clearly struggling to keep their wits about them here.
「Lady Saint! No matter what happens here, you need to move forward at all times, without stopping! Can you do that for me? Or no! You will have to do that for me!」
「Affirmation: with my current specs, there exist less than a five percent possibility that the enemy units shall intercept us. So the escort target should remain safe at all times.」
「Well, this is certainly reassuring. Not to mention that terrifying dragon armor and weapons, but…… Sanraku—sama? Just what is this sword that you are holding……?」
「What, this thing? This thing is…… Alright! Won’t you look at that! It seems that we are going to reach our destination much faster than I anticipated! You can see it clearly now!」
Right in front of us, a red locus is drawn in the air. That locus then is set ablaze and changes into a huge damage effect that is perfectly visible on the night sky and just keeps on cutting through it.
For a moment out there it makes me wonder if we did not wonder into some FPS game completely by accident, but then an attack like that flies our way and carves a deep hole right through the neck of one of humanoid dragons that was about to ambush us from behind.
「The inscription calls this thing “Lumeridian, the Jewel Sword of Boundary Light”. It’s made out of certain monster materials…… But as of right now…… Think if it as a plain and ordinary prism or jewel sword and nothing else.」
Personally, I am not one of those players who would end up using weapons like that all aggressively. I don’t care if it’s a game like Bakumatsu Online or anything else like that, but in games where you have to constantly swing your swords like mad, a weapon with an intricate and delicate structure like this single-edged weapon simply does not have the right to exist…… And it’s not only because it would keep on breaking quite easily. It’s because you would manually have ot remember to change the direction of the blade all the time, which is really counter-productive when you think about aiming for the absolute top.
The size does not even matter here. It may be a small weapon like kodachi. It may be a huge or even oversized weapon like the Dullahan Blade. It can be one-handed or two-handed. But as long as it is double-edged, handling it is going to be significantly easier than the single-edged ones.
Of course, single-edged swords have their advantages as well. But when you have the Agility and Luck-based build like my current Sanraku, then you would never be able to achieve your peak potential with a weapon like that. That is why while I mainly use swords in this game as my weapon of choice, I also do not go out of my way that much in order to find some more of them.
「I see, I see. So, dies that weapon possess some sort of a secret ability? Or maybe abilities? I have clearly seen you shoot out something resembling a beam from that sword just now.」
「Well, basically, this particular sword possesses two distinct forms. And what version you are going to be using depends on how much moonlight and sunlight respectively the sword’s blade managed to absorb in itself. But if Lady Saint would like to know more about it, I’m not really the one to be asked. The blacksmith Imron would be able to tell Lady Saint more.」
Imron. A man. A woman. A brilliant blacksmith. But also a Hero at the same time. In the first place, since she is the Hero of the Holy Hammer, it can be said that she is a very peculiar hybrid of a production worker also being able to dish out quite a lot of damage. And while it can be said that the place where she feels mostly at home is at the backlines providing support or to simply remain inside of her workshop, she is no stranger to venturing out into the open and staying at the frontlines.
「Oh, I know what that is. It’s the weapon of that Vorpal Bunny blacksmith that is competing with me, is that right? Fufufu……」
I don’t know why, but why is it always that people’s roleplaying capabilities all go to shit the very first moment when the people themselves come under duress? It really bugs me to no end……
「Ahh…… Uhm, yeah, that’s right. Oh, but I also gave your Prism Sword a spin earlier as well. It’s really nice and all, it handles really well, but I guess that its Strength scaling is a little bit too much for me at the current moment. Don’t get me wrong, I can use it just fine, but I get a feeling that as a weapon it’s a little bit all over the place.」
「Gee, thanks for the insight, I guess? So? Is there anything else I should know about……?」
「Oh yeah, that’s right…… Muh! A Giant Type! Watch out……!」
Yeah, I was wondering where those fuckers would start showing up. And while those guys should not be that much of a problem to take care of since their sheer size makes them easy to hit and handle, I wonder if I will be able to one-shot those guys with this weapon?
Every time I swing that particular weapon, there’s a red slash that remains after my attack which is then caught on fire. Now, this is a pretty useful thing in and out of itself, but only if I were alone in here. But I have to fight not only the dragon giants, but other enemies as well. Not to mention having Imron and Lady Saint to worry about, since their combat prowess is something that is not all that quite on my level out there.
