ShangriLa Frontier Chapter 452: Dragon, Oh Dragon! PART 29 Part 1

「No, seriously, who would have thought, huh? The idea of being actually reunited with another Survival Island player in a game as popular and with a huge playerbase as this one is just unheard of! And to be reunited with a former Survival Island player of your caliber! And you even went as far as to retain your old name from that time, huh? That’s crazy! I may not look like it, but I’m actually really happy about that!」

Yashiro Bird…… Originally known as At Bird.

That name is actually very nostalgic. It makes my chest fill with all kinds of conflicting emotions, in the same was as “γMackerel” and “Survival FPS”.

In Survival Island the aspects of Survival and Fighting were the ones that were always coming to the front at all times. But that being said, the game had its share of really stupid people who were always acting without thinking, and when it comes to fighting they would always want to use their bare fists and nothing else. However, that guys was different. He was actively using his brain in order to get things done, and when it comes to fighting he was actually using the firearm that was provided to all players at the very beginning. So you can say that the game he was playing was at a completely different level.

As for me, I was trying a more “Assassin-like” approach during my time on that island, but you can probably imagine that it was a really hard thing to accomplish when you are being surrounded with idiots who were doing whatever the hell they wanted with little to no regard for others.

「At the current moment I’m part of the “10 P.M Army”, but I heard that you are a member of the “Wolfgang” guild? So, since we are all allies and such, how about we play together for the time being and help each other out? It should be way more efficient that way, wouldn’t you agree?」

Except from the starting firearm, actual good guns were a rare commodity to come across on the Survival Island.

Occassionally you would see folks forming small or large groups that went on scavenging expeditions in hopes of finding something in the jungle or the mountains. And sometimes they would find shotguns or rifles, but they would always let them go before long…… because then it would turn out that you had to go on another expedition in order to procure “gunpowder” without of which the guns would have been virtually useless.

Among all the guns users, AtBird was one of the most brilliant ones. His skills with guns were so good that he could easily snipe monsters with a musket through the small gaps between vegetation in the jungle. And oh yeah, we do have a history with one another. This guy managed to shoot one of my eyes out while I in return slashed his throat open with little to no hesitation.

「Thanks a lot, some quality support is always appreciated…… But are you sure that’s okay? From what I can see “Bow” is your weapon of choice in here, right?」

「Oh, no need to worry about it. Must I remind you, γ Mackerel? I used to resort to bow every time I have run out of bullets.」

I can see that his taste in avatars is the same as back then, making them slim and and young-looking. He may say that he prefers the long—distance type of battles, but I was getting a vibe from his current avatar that he would actually do pretty well in all types of combat should the situation demand it. That’s the type of player that At Bird…… Yashiro Bird is.

Even now that we have left the ship and abandoned our advantageous position, he was making a quick work of the incoming enemies by kicking and knocking them away and crushing the small dragons at long distance. Seeing that was really cool, and it made me feel another surge of nostalgia coming my way.

「Hey, I was wondering about that girl that accompanies you. She looks awfully like the Lady Saint…… Oh, so she IS actually the Lady Saint? Hmm, I guess that she must have her own reasons for accompanying you, so rest assured! I’ll help you keep an eye on her if that is what you want to do.」

「Well, there is a perfectly good reason for why she is here with me right now. For now, I’ll send you this. We can bring you up to speed later.」

「At the same time, I’ll send you this. This should make working together even easier, don’t you think?」

With that, we both send each other a friend request and I send a party invitation to Yashiro Bird. Thanks to that, he is able to accept the quest “The Sword of the Saint” as well. …… But now what?

「Lady Saint, this man may be an outsider to you, but he is actually one of my companions from the past adventures. Are you fine with me adding him to our party?」

「Yes, I don’t mind. By all means, please do so if you so desire.」

It’s great that the Lady Saint is so forgiving and benevolent. It really makes my job here that much easier. After putting Brynhildr Baskerville back into my inventory, the newly formed Neo Saint Guard rushes back towards the battlefield where the Black and Gold were colliding with one another.

「It’s actually amazing that you can store a thing as huge as that inside of your inventory without any major troubles. But personally, more than a ship itself, I am interested in those things that you have installed on it. Next time around where the opportunity presents itself, let me shoot those things at least once!」

「Hey, you may be surprised, but the opportunity for using that ship might come sooner than you expect.」

「That’s just an assumption on your part. No, it’s even more than that, actually! Ah, but more than that, I would really like to see one of those Power Suits in action…… You think there will be a chance for that……?」

「Fufufu…… Sigma, show this guy what “Sagittarius” looks like, why don’t you?」

「Roger that, Master: Deploying “Sagittarius” now.」

「Ooohhh……! Excellent! Magnificent! Amazing! I knew that there were things like that in this game, but this is just crazy……! This completely goes well beyond my wildest expectations!」

You see, Sigma, some people in this world can be really unpleasant to deal with. But this guy is actually a huge and hardcore “gun nut”. He loves watching guns of all kinds above all else. And what he likes even more is shooting those guns.

Even Sigma here was apparently taken aback by Yashiro Bird’s reaction upon seeing this gun. I mean, I can understand that. I would be disgusted as well if someone was looking at my possession as though they wanted to kiss, suck and lick it all over while breathing heavily. However, I can also understand the guy as well. It’s like seeing something you really want while at the same time realizing that you can never have it. It tends to build up quite a bit of stress inside of you.
