「By the way, I do realize that it may sound like I’m trying to jinx it, but do you honestly think that we stand a chance at actually being able to defeat Siegwurm in this battle?」

「I mean…… If you were asking for my personal opinion here, then I would have to say that…… Well, I am no expert here, so you would have to actually ask someone who knows more about this situation than we do at the current moment. Otherwise it’s just wishful thinking and fortune telling. That’s my opinion.」

「Hou? Is that so?」

At the current moment sharing of information is something that I cannot really avoid. However, I must be extremely careful about what I want to disclose and what to keep for myself. For example, some loose theories about the ongoing battle with the dragons is all good, but I would like to avoid accidentally revealing information about Weissash and Rabbitz if I could help it here.

「It’s only a hypothesis, so do be mindful of that, but…… Let us assume for a moment out there that Siegwurm is actually not a true “organic” dragon, but something that was actually man-made. And let us assume that it has a “core” of some sorts inside of himself, with everything else being just the coating used to protect that core from any external hazards. And if that core possesses the ability to nullify all kinds of magic and attacks in order to protect itself from danger…… Then no, winning here is something that we will never be able to accomplish. Not in a million years.」

「If that theory of yours turns out to be true, then that would cause a whole lot of people to actually give up on trying to defeat Siegwurm and shift their focus onto trying to defeat Noirlind instead. And needless to say, it would be disastrous for us. Is that why you wanted to keep that “theory” of yours to yourself there?」

「Nah, that’s not it. I’m not done yet, so let me finish, why don’t you? I have consulted that matter with various “experts” and they are all agreeing as to one thing: there may be actually a way to “deactivate” Siegwurm. Or even two ways to do that, if they were to be exact. One way would be to continuously force him to use that magic of his, allowing its “core” to sort of become “empty”. Think about it like a car that was going so fast for so long that it actually ran out of gas. And the second way is to hit his “reverse scale” enough to force him to change its behavior.」

「Change his behavior…… You mean it like forcing him to shift into his final form, or something like that?」

「Maybe, or maybe not. But anyways, there is only one method of forcing Siegwurm to shift into that presumed “final form” of his. And that is what we should focus on doing here.」

And the answer to that question is pretty simple. In fact, it was always right beside us, from the very beginning. Ahh, yes, that’s right. It is something that happened right after Siegwurm descended onto the battlefield here: that blasted golden gravitational sphere of his.

「It’s all about role-playing. It’s about our ability to act like proper Heroes and raise Siegwurm’s tension gauge all the way to the max…… This is the strategy that we are supposed to adopt in here at this very moment.」

「Yeah, I know about that, but talking about it and actually doing it are two entirely different things altogether……」

Yes, I do realize that it is not easy. Yes, I do realize that it is really difficult of a thing to pull off. But at the same time, it is not something that is impossible for all of us to achieve. And if we are to consider our current circumstances with the conditions that are presented to us, there is in fact one person who should be really close to satisfying those conditions to the fullest.

「So how about it? Are up to the task? Think that you can do it?」

「Hmm, it’s not really a matter of a yes/no question here. If we don’t try it, we will never know it if works or not.」

And as luck would have it, it turns out that almost everyone in the Holy Shield’s Territory and the Lady Saint’s Personal Guard are hardcore role-players. And if you want proof of that, it’s right here: even though they were all smack down in the middle of the Unique Scenario EX and had more important things to worry about, all they could ever think of was to protect their beloved Lady Saint from harm’s way. Everything else was not important until that one grand goal was fulfilled…… But that being said, as she is now, even if Joset was to participate in the B.I.G battle, the way she is acting would certainly score her some minus modifiers for sure. So if we are to use the “Maximum Defense” to our own devices, we need to do something about that first.

And there is also this thing: how does the AI judge one’s behavior in this golden sphere? Do you have to act in a very specific way? Or are you allowed to have at least some sort of flexibility involved? No, I think that at least some flexibility will be given to the players, but not that much of it, for sure……

Joset is remaining silent here for the moment, but I assume that she knows what’s going on in here. And if I want her to role-play correctly, I do believe that it is impossible for her to actually leave Lady Saint’s side. Otherwise her role-play might crumble down.

In the middle of the most chaotic battlefield, the Lady Saint spreads her arms wide and smiles shyly, pointing her finger towards the site where Siegwurm is located.

「There is something that I wanted to try asking the Golden Dragon King about, but I guess that the Black Dragon is going to be able to answer my question as well…… Joset, can I ask you t protect me doing that time from Siegwurm’s attacks, so that our conversation can go uninterrupted?」

「Your wish is my command, my Lady!」

「Thank you so much, then we shall do it just like that. Sanraku-sama, Yashiro Bird-sama…… and Sigma-sama as well. Will you please lend me your power in this endeavor as well?」

「We were going to overwhelm his ass from the very beginning, so there is not really a change for our plans at all. You want our help? You got it!」

「I have also aimed at trying to defeat Siegwurm from the very beginning, so please sign me up for this as well! I mean…… please allow me to be of use, oh Lady Saint.」

「There also should not be any change when it comes to the contents of the mission.」

And with that being said, each and every one of us confirmed our will to help the Lady Saint, which pretty much cemented the deal between us.

Our current battle party may as well be made on the spot and without any previous planning, but we each have our own strength, so we can hold on on our own without any issue. We can do this for sure! Plus, what is uniting us in here is the same goal.

「Alright, bring it on!」

「Ah, Sanraku-sama! Please wait a moment!」

「Whoa!?」

Woman, do you wish to get yourself killed!? This is a pretty important scene where the brave warrior each psych themselves up before the important battle! And now you have officially managed to ruin it, so great, just great! You can fucking congratulate yourself on that!
