「I-I’m sorry, but…… As expected, this was way harder on my body than I had anticipated…… I’m afraid I won’t be able to move for quite a while now, so I will have to rest and recover……」

So as expected, a strong skill or technique comes with its own set of demerits and disadvantages? I think that it would be safe to assume that Joset right about now must be going through the very same thing that happened to me not so long ago. However, her actions managed to obtain the best result possible: seeing Seigwurm being blown away like that, the hesitation was no longer to be seen in the players’ eyes.

「Good job! So, does that mean that the time has come for us to finally have an active role in this battle after all?」

「Good luck with that! You are going to need it for sure!」

「This whole battle is one big mess, oi……! Oh well, it doesn’t really matter that much to me…… Sigma! Go find Emul and bring him here! From now on it’s going to be a total war out there! We are going to do everything that is in our power! We are going to spend every ounce of blood in our bodies! We won’t rest until Siegwurm finally bites the dust!」

「Understood, Master! Beginning assigned operation now!」

I think that Yashiro Bird can do just fine on his own out here. Alright! Let’s show the whole world just how much of a great Dragonslayers our team can be!

After becoming largely incapacitated from the aftereffects of the “Hot Blood Gates – Thermopylae –“, Joset could only lie on the ground and see Noirlind flying off to continue fighting Siegwurm, and Sanraku’s crew following closely behind. From time to time a painful groan would escape from her mouth unwillingly.

「Oh well, I guess that I at least managed to tip the scales in the right direction…… Or at least I sure hope so……」

That player, Akitsu Akane…… Although he was not a girl, there was something in his eyes that made Joset feel as though this whole ordeal was well worth it. But if he happened to be a girl, then Joset felt as though she would have been able to go on for way longer in even harsher circumstances.

“Gate” magic is not the easiest magic out there to handle properly. And in case of “Hot Blood Gate”, as a compensation for its activation a tribute in form of the player’s own body heat is being taken away from them. And speaking from the systemic point of view, the HP taken for the sake of the skill activation is not going to recover as it normally would over time, and there is also a matter of EXP points deduced from the player as additional offering. And the worst thing is that for as long as the player does not “regain” the deficit taken from them, they cannot level up.

「I guess that I will have to sacrifice some time and resources into proper leveling after all of this is over, huh……?」

It was then, at that exact time.

「Thank you for all of your hard work, Joset.」

「Huh? Have I gone to Heaven? Because I swear, I see an angel right in front of me……」

All of a sudden, Joset could feel the back of her head resting on something really soft and fluffy. No way, could it really be……? Joset tried to raise her head up and have a look to confirm her assumption…… And there it was. The face of Saint Iristella, so close to her own face.

「I could see it now that your determination is something that cannot be stopped…… And while I cannot do anything in order to negate the aftereffects of activating those “Hot Blood Gates” of yours, I can do at least this much to ease your pain, right?」

「Oh my gosh…… Too much…… This is just too much……」

Joset knew that there would come a day when she would experience something like that in real life once she gets married on her own, but for now she was just going to enjoy this blissful moment. This is why 2D-women are the best out there……!!!

「Hey there, Siegwurm! How are you? Alive and kicking, I hope? Come on, it would be bad if you were to just drop dead on me just like that! Where’s the fun in that!?」

「OH MY…… WELL, IF IT ISN’T THE WARRIOR MARKED BY THE BLACK WOLF HIMSELF…… NO, BUT…… I SENSE SOMETHING DIFFERENT ABOUT YOU NOW, THIS FEELING…… COULD IT BE……? DOES THAT MEAN THAT YOU ARE “SERIOUS” RIGHT NOW?」

「What are you talking about, are you stupid or something? I am always serious, I’ll let you know! But truth to be told, I am always doing my very best when my back is being pushed against the wall……」

Let me also say this here: I don’t like cutting corners…… too much. A single digit here and there is fine, but overall, I like to experience what the game has in store for me to the fullest. So even though I really like the content here, you can bet your ass that if I am going to be able to get myself an overpowered sword that would require me investing my whole money and resources, I would craft the damn thing without a second thought. Of course, only if I knew that my investment would pay off in the end. That’s just the kind of player that I am!

「It took me a while to achieve the form that I should have had from the get go, but as I am right now I can take you on with my full power! So come right at me!」

「HOU, I SEE…… AND WHAT ABOUT THAT WEAPON OF THE GODS RIGHT BESIDE YOU?」

「It’s called Hundred-Legged Centipede Type Eight Zero Point Five Thousand…… So, can I take it as a sign that you know full well who the one who managed to create this thing is?」

The Sigmonia Frontline Valley, the place that literally recreates the never-ending battlefield. A place where giant spiders were locked in the endless conflict with the giant centipedes, using firepower strong enough to reshape the entire landscape with little to no effort at all. And this weapon is something that was made specifically out of the oversized centipedes.

And perhaps it was exactly the spiders versus centipedes death match over and over again, a certain thought occurred to me: could it be that there were actually more species there in the past, and right now only those two were left as the strongest ones, having eliminated their entire competition? So in a sense it was the showdown between two ultimate predators in that valley.

Now, here is the real kicker. This weapon right here was actually made out of a Giant Centipede that was even larger and far stronger than all of the usual Giant Centipedes that you could encounter in that death valley. If the male Giant Centipede was the size of a train, then for something to be much bigger than that it would have to mean that it was actually a Female Giant Centipede, right? Needless to say, the materials from a monster like that were all rare and all of the utmost quality!

「Normally I would never possibly work up enough courage and guts to even touch a thing like that directly, but as I was saying, my back is currently pressed against the wall really hard…… Then I guess that there is no other way for me but to suck it up and just do it! Or rather, have someone else to do it for me instead!」

「AND WHAT IT IS EXACTLY THAT YOU ARE HOPING TO ACCOMPLISH HERE?」

「You see, just a lightest of taps from this thing is more than enough to obliterate me on the spot. However, for as long as there are flames of motivation burning inside of my heart, I am going to keep on coming back to life over and over again. Until the moment I defeat you, I don’t even care if I’ll have to change into a literal zombie for that sake! So come on now! Let’s dance! Earlier we were rudely interrupted, but now we can fight to our heart’s content!」

「HAHAHA, KUHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!! YES! THAT’S GOOD! THOSE ARE SOME TRUE FIGHTING WORDS RIGHT THERE! WELL THEN, IF YOU CLAIM TO BE IMMORTAL LIKE THAT, ALLOW ME TO OBLITERATE THAT FALSE IMMORTALITY OF YOURS WITH ALL OF MY HEART AND ALL OF MY SOUL! GEZE UPON THIS! THIS IS THE “DRAGON KING X DRIVER” BEFIT OF THE ONE BLESSED WITH THE TITLE OF THE HEAVENLY EMPEROR!!!」

The heart of this thing is lit ablaze, so there is no use in talking right now! The time for words is over, and now it is the time for action! So let’s duke it all out between ourselves until we both turn into ashes and scatter on the wind!
