If that is the case here, then the first step to really mastering this overly specific Legacy Weapon would be to actually come to understand the characteristics of the Giant Centipede, right? And while I think that a weapon like that is not nearly as powerful as something you would get from a Unique Monster, it should still be something that is really close to that, right?

「Alright, and there we have it. It should be about done now. And as for the inscription, let’s see…… Oh yes, how about that? Back in my day I used to combat things like that all the time, exterminating about seven legions of them, but not quite managing to make it to the eighth…… So how about naming this one a Hundred-Legged Centipede Shiki Eight Zero Point Five Thousand?」

Kuh…… I thought that since Weissash somehow resembled a Moon Rabbit that his naming sense would be more in a Japanese way, but as expected, it’s not that simple. More than that, it’s just plain old weird……

「When you compare that name to things such as Super-Expulsion or Absorption-Conversion, the naming sense hits differently on a whole another level…… But you must remember, this is only a foundation here. A groundwork, so to speak. The rest is going to be dependent on your skills alone.」

There were still some things that I wanted to ask Weissash about, and Emul seemed to be visibly repulsed by the strange contraption, but be that as it may I took it from Big Bro into my own hands. Now that I see it up close, this thing resembles a smoking tube to some extent. But aside from that I was drawing a huge blank in here.

「“Excess Mechanism – EXCEED CHARGE – ……」

The lines tracing all across the shaking rod then change colors to red and blue, separating like water and oil. But upon me speaking the activation word, the lines converge into one again, their colors mixing and creating a new one in place of the old two: this time that color is purple.

The words I have just spoken activate the principle power of this weapon. They stirred the materials that are infused in it, and in response they bring forth and enhance the destructive power that sleeps deep within this thing. And the name of that power is…….

「–––––– Activation –AWAKENING LIBERET–!!!」

The previous Exceed Charges that I was using were either so powerful that their usage would end up damaging the item itself, or something that needed an energy supply from the outside source in order to make it work properly and realize its full power. But this thing is nothing like that at all.

This particular Excess Mechanism is really unique when you compare it to all the other ones that I had the opportunity of using in the past. They were all acting outwards towards the enemies that I have been facing, but this one, for a change……

「ARE YOU…… POISONING YOURSELF……?」

「What didn’t you know? Not all poisons are bad for you if you keep to the appropriate dosages. Once you know what you are doing, any poison can actually become a sort of a panacea, or even a doping drug. But it’s a really advanced course for only those who really know what they are doing.」

Ogogogogogoh! Man, I knew it, poisoning yourself to this extent does feel terrible right from the get-go. What the thing in my arms does is essentially distributing the poison of the Female Giant Centipede and then distributing it all over my body. And the sensation of some foreign substance gradually spreading all over me is strange and uncomfortable, as if there was jelly filling up my blood vessels.

「Alright then…… No matter if it is the real world or inside of the system, it can be said that both poison and caffeine are pretty much the same thing, or that their effects are pretty much doubled…… and now I feel like it has been more than hundred years since we have met here! Accelerate with one step. Running for five meters with four steps, and with another four steps I manage to close the gap that was between Siegwurm and myself. I then activate the “Excess Mechanism” once more, changing the weapon in my hands into its proper halberd shape. I then swing my body around and take a shot at the dragon’s flank with my halberd.

「That oversized Giant Centipede……! I wonder if it is supposed to be a sign that I should be taking better care of myself a little bit more……!?」

I know that thanks to that my body is going to receive a tremendous power boost, but a prolonged use of poison just like that can’t possibly be good for my health! So it would be ideal if we were able to wrap this up quickly!

Truth to be told, the ability of this “Centipede Halberd” is closely related to the very nature of centipedes as species.

In the first place…… How exactly are you even able to move such a giant body around so swiftly, huh? Yeah, that is the key here.

Turns out that the key component for the Giant Centipedes to use their cannonballs is the potent and virulent poison that they concoct inside of their bodies. On the other hand, the Giant Spiders, which resemble tarantulas to some extent, can use their projectiles without the need of any such thing. Maybe it has something to do with the species being different, but I wouldn’t really know about that.

However, once you start to read into the flavor texts of both the Giant Centipede and Giant Spider, it turns out that their bodies produce one more kind of poison besides the one that they are using for the purpose of attacking.

That kind of poison is called “Mad Muscle Poison”, and it is a kind of a natural doping drug that only the Giant Centipedes secrete inside of their bodies. The way it works is that by poisoning itself rather than its enemies, it causes muscle tissue to enter the state of “over-activity” which gives them a boost to movement speed and overall power.

And this Centipede Halberd possesses a version of this poison that is diluted just as much as to make it possible for humans to use it without having to suffer any kind of a backlash. As a result, the dope spreads through Sanraku’s body, giving it a huge bonus in strength, but at the same time consuming “something” in return for it.

「Now! Let’s consume my MP in exchange for the increased physical stats all around!!」

And the purple tip of the weapon, which is a mixture of the two poisons, is not the “mad muscle poison” that is injected into the user, but the blade of the “gun venom” contaminates the enemy upon a successful hit and gradually eats away at them from the inside!!

「Now listen here…… This won’t be in effect for that long, so I have to do everything in my power while this thing is still active! Every second counts now!!!」

「NUH, OOOHHH……!!!」

「You know!? It doesn’t matter if you are just a plain ass screwdriver or a taxi driver! If you keep on slacking off with no end in sight, you’ll eventually fall into the wrong hands! And you wouldn’t want that to happen, right!?」

In response to the scream that I let out with all the might that was in my body, the Golden Scorpion Robe let out an ominous glow accompanied with the golden glow of the moon that peeked outside of the clouds.
